I’m starting the thread because I didn’t see one. I did have something to say but now I’ve forgotten it - perhaps other posts will jog my memory
So talk amongst yourselves - I’ll give you a topic - Did Frances Coppola gain weight over the summer?
Yes. Also I like that they had him working with Keith first - maybe now we’ll get more then “Eli” “Sheriff” though I kinda like that exchange. I agree with other people that it’s less dark, but I think it’s because Veronica is. Though maybe this arc will get darker.
I didn’t mind the MOTW, I like that both Veronica and Logan compromised.
I wish we’d get more on how the Dick/Logan living together was going. Missed seeing Wallace and Mac.
You know, I was thinking that Weevil looked a little puffy. I guess the food’s pretty good in county.
But really, pleading down murder to assault and getting out of prison in three months? I want Weevil’s lawyer, because there’s some people that needs killin’. Too bad that Weevil didn’t work out at Keith’s. Would’ve been a nice way to get Keith and Weevil into the show.
The MOTW are seeming kind of obvious to me. I dunno if they’re writing them simpler or if I’m just in the writers’ groove or I’m just wicked smart. I lean toward the latter. Heh.
What’s MOTW? Message of the Week?
Mystery of the Week
pretty nice (and awfully large) dorm room that pit boss had - and what would the dean say if he knew there was underage gambling on his campus?
(no, that wasn’t what I originally wanted to say either. >sigh< guess I’ll have to wait for January reruns since CW ain’t encoring on Sundays)
Weevil didn’t actually kill that guy himself, right? Just handed him over to the Fitzpatricks. Maybe that’s why he got off on assault.
Weevil seemed kindof tame in this episode, not like himself. It’s hard to imagine Weevil from last season taking a janitor job. I guess it’s better than jail.
So Veronica came up with the $2000 to fix the Dean’s car?
no, when she realized it was the Dean’s son who trashed the car and not some students, she decided to secure Weevil a job instead of cash for the work done. And Weevil would rather have the job than go back to jail. I noticed Weevil seems happy, proud of doing a good job, when he’s working - so maybe that means he never really was a “bad seed” just fell in with the bad PCHers at an early age and never found anything better. Now he has self respect. (and a short fuse). He’ll turn out to be very helpful to V this year.
Also the job gets him onto the campus where he and V can interact more freely. And I’m glad V realized just how insane she was getting regarding Logan.
I missed the first episode of the season - was anything said about Duncan and baby Lilly?
He set events in motion knowing that the likelihood was that a death would result. That’s depraved indifference, which in at least some jurisdictions equals murder. Other jurisdictions it’s manslaughter. Either way getting it pled down to assault with three months or less in jail is a hell of a deal. Based on what we know of Weevil’s past, I’m surprised to learn that he doesn’t have two prior felony convictions since he wasn’t sent up under California’s three strikes law.
It’s hard to imagine Weevil from last season taking a janitor job.
[/QUOTE]
He’s not a janitor, he’s a maintenance worker. He’s repairing machinery and the like which he clearly enjoys and is good at, so I can see him being very happy in the job.
No.
And as long as he can restrain himself from knocking any snotty students, professors, or other staff around, it should work out fine.
Oh, crap. :smack:
Only that Duncan wouldn’t be needing his argyle sweater collection anymore.
When Logan showed up and said he was in trouble I immediately thought he was the rapist.
I think my dislike of Logan is making me go weird. Weirder.
One of Veronica’s producers is pitching a show about girl superheroes to the CW. It’s Diane Ruggiero–the woman who wrote last week’s episode. Isn’t V enough of a pocket-sized superhero already?
Loved seeing Weevil, though he did get a bit pudgeriffic.
The only thing I don’t like about VM is her glibness, the snappy comebacks. Sometimes it feels superficial, like a barrier to keep people from getting close.
For whatever reason, I’m really hating the relationship between Veronica and Duncan. Too smoochy I think. I mean, Veronica doesn’t seem to be a PDA kind of girl.
I want it stopped, so we can see he date some college boys!
Oh, and I hate the way they depict the college feminists. It’s so far over the top as to make them cartoonish and really unlikable, when they actually have a pretty legitimate beef.
Weevil is played by Francis Capra–not a Coppola. However, given his previously noted gourmand proclivities, the Coppola mistake is easy to understand.
It’s not good food in “county”; someone specifically mentioned Chino, which would be a state prison, not a county facility. Not that I’ve been…
I found the MOTW rather pedestrian. Don’t know if there were hidden clues to the larger mystery; didn’t notice anything interesting, but that’s not definitive.
Too much pendulum action on Veronica and Logan’s relationship. Are they solid, or having problems? Make a decision, folks.
No Mac? No Wallace? No good.
And by the way, since when does Roni believe anything Dick says? Maybe that’s why the whole mistrust thing seemed annoying–she initially based it on the word of Mr. Unstable. She knows better, or should.
The whole superhyperfeminists vs. Hearst Lampoon thing didn’t ring true. Some dudes publishing a humor rag are responsible for a series of rapes? Based on very little evidence (and its the first time we’ve heard of them)? All that seemed very out of joint.
All in all, not a great episode.
I said Veronica and Duncan. I meant Veronica and Logan.
I still hate it though.
yeah - I meant Francis Capra - he is related to THE Frank Capra, isn’t he? like a grandson or nephew?
as for the rape - that’s part of the MOTSeason - it will probably tie in with Parker’s rape and shearing - which was one of the MOTWs last season
I believe Francis Capra is Frank Capra’s great-grandson.
Slightly off topic, but probably of interest to any who have not already heard it: reports say that starting in January, college students will be included in the Nielsen ratings. Apparently, they’ve just learned that kids in dorms watch TV. Anyhoo, this could mean an upward bump for VM’s ratings, which could translate to longer series life, which will make us happier. In theory, at least. Something to ponder.
Actually, though it’s been a while since I’ve been in college full time, there’s a certain segment of college feminists who this portrayal absolutely nails.
