Veronica Mars 10/31

So the consensus is: Veronica and Logan’s costumes suck, because nobody’s sure what they’re supposed to be.

Rob Thomas gave interviews where he said they liked the actor who played Lucky so they decided to bring him back as a different character. I don’t think there’s anything more to it than that. No identical cousins or anything.

Well, that’s a relief. Seriously though, I’m just trying to leave no stone unturned. This is Veronica Mars, after all.

True, there’s no reason to think they couldn’t make something wacky of that casting down the line.

A poster at other board I lurk at who is aquainted with Francis Capra posted this, but I’m not linking it because I’m not sure how the mods would like it:

So maybe he can’t take his proactive because of something else he is on, but in any case, sounds like the guy had a hard summer. Maybe this is why he wasn’t in the first few eps this season at all, despite being in the credits.

What breed is backup, BTW?

Weevil looks bloated, almost steroid bloated. And speaking of Weevil, it didn’t ring true that Roni turned on him that quickly. That Lamb (Mr Roboto) would go for it is a given, but I think it would be consistent with VM’s character to give him the benefit of a doubt.
At one point, it seemed like they were trying to misdirect us into thinking Logan was the robber.

I’m not sure I like how they’re pacing it this year. It seems as if RT got an order from the CW to make it more accesible to casual viewers, which is a shame, because, to me, he’s certainly proven that he can handle multiple storylines and still make it run smoothly.

The character VM now has a fan club in pizza dude. Cool. Being all Nancy Drew in a small SoCal town should draw attention to her, and it’s quite plausible that a pimply teen would start adoring her, to the point of starting a fan site.
Oh, and **Otto ** - get a pvr, dvr, TiVo.

I think Backup is a pit bull.

Hearing that Francis Capra was injured explains a lot. The same thing happened to my sister, who was a high school athlete (in 4+ sports). She got hurt, couldn’t play anything anymore, and she suddenly both gained weight and developed skin problems.

Poor Francis Capra. Knee injuries are indeed often treated with corticosteroid shots, which have the same water retention and other side effects of any steroid. cite.

So it may be pharmacological, not fat lazy actor syndrome. In which case, I’d like to point out, I called it two weeks ago.

I *believe *Backup 2.0 (it’s a different dog than in the pilot) is indeed a pit bull. but he looks a little tall for the breed. He’s referenced in this article about the attempt to change the image of the pit bull.

It’s worth noting, though, that lots of dogs are mistakenly identified as “pit bulls”, and I am not a dog breeder.

A point well taken. I also thought that was odd. Weevil even makes that case himself, with the line about “all we’ve been through,” and Roni makes a rather tart comeback to it. But really, Weevil’s been on her side and in the right–as far as a gang member can be–more often than not; why should she suddenly decide that he’s knocking over the campus casino? She should know better.

Back-up 2.0 is probably an American Staffordshire Terrier. He’s a bit tall for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (I tried to get photos with people so you could see the difference in size).

Capra looks like he’s on therapeutic steroids. He does not look good, But I love him anyway, and am thrilled each time he’s on an episode.

I don’t know about others here, but at my University (MSU), it was not considered cheating to get old tests. Basically, if a prof was too lazy to change his tests, than the test was fair game. In fact, I had one professor who gave out his old tests, with the catch that he wouldn’t give you the answers, and that you had to go to his office to get it.

Well, Weevil did kill a guy. Or set him up to be killed, actually. Maybe Veronica doesn’t think a robbery is past him. All that money would have been tempting.

Also she knew Weevil would have been interested in Lilly’s necklace, and that he was mad at Veronica for dating Logan. It did seem like a strange coincidence that she had just shown him the necklace, and then it gets stolen a few hours later.

Thumper deserved it, and Veronica knew that. She’s well acquainted with moral shades of gray. I don’t see why the necklace would be of particular interest to Weevil, even given his past relationship with Lilly. And it may have been a coincidence, but not a particularly strange one–there was a robbery later, they were taking jewelry, as often happens in robberies. Doesn’t automatically connect to Weevil.

Anyone catch the line at the police department when Lamb was doing the robot? One of the deputies says, “The sherriff’s doing the robot again!” I had to keep rewinding to giggle at that.

Loved seeing Cliff again, too.

But, neither did our Veronica! I re-watched the episode, and Miss Mars is clearly wearing a crew-neck.

I thogught they were supposed to characters from the Archie Comic. Veronica, as Veronica, and Logan as Reggie.

That wouldn’t explain why Logan greeted Veronica with “Wha’ happ’ning?” in an exaggerated Spanish accent. Reggie isn’t Latino.
