Buh! The work day ended on a bad note. Eleventh hour changes to something I turned over to the requestors two days ago. They had the gall to inform me five minutes before a meeting with one of the Deputy Commanders; the purpose of which was to brief on the aforementioned project.
Fortunately, the deputy cancelled the meeting.
I can’t convince these people that my numbers will never match theirs for open schedules unless we’re both running the data at the EXACT SAME FUCKING TIME. There’s way more to it than that, but that’s the tip of the iceburg. I’m so sick of this project.
Every time I hand it back, they tell me it’s good, and then at the last minute, they change their minds about how the want the data arrayed and calculated. In the meantime, they’re telling the Command Group that I’M the hold up. This is what really sticks in my craw.
Unfortunately, my division chief will not let me tell them to stuff it and do themselves. We had a loooooooooooooong discussion. I was so angry I had to get up and walk out. This is not typical of me. I would never walk out on a boss like that, but I was losing control of my emotions and wasn’t going to let it happen in front of him.
So, tomorrow and next week, I have to start all fucking over.
I’m going to document, document, document. I’m going to get their “requirements” in writing. I’m going to document and screen shot all my source data, and I’m telling them what the cut off for the data is. We’re going to go over everything TOGETHER with a fine tooth comb, I don’t care how fucking late I make them stay. God knows, I’ve stayed late often enough because of them.
Rosie, are you in pain from PT? I hope you feel better soon!
So, I watched the movie and it was wonderful as usual. After that I finished checking over my essay which I will hopefully get to submit tomorrow afternoon. Now, I suppose, it’s going to be time for bed.
Thanks, guys. There’s no “summer break” as such, since we have to deliver the dissertation in september, and it’s for consulting jobs. Some involve the same final client Supermegaboss is in, but Sheboss isn’t anywhere near the radar. Her company is a small firm whose market share was based on being backed by a certain political party which uses it as “retirement pastures” and which is on the wane right now (and I’m not crying, either about the firm or about the politics). The Big Firms don’t hire people with experience, anyway, at least in Spain. They’ve got this mantra about “house-grown talent” and hire only people fresh from college with high GPAs; for this particular Big Firm, it turns out that half of their Spanish workers are subcontractors from my agent Hiring us like that is more expensive, but hey, we’re not home-grown! They can’t hire us directly! We might have some Horrid Customs Acquired Elsewhere! Never mind that there have been projects where everybody was from my agent except for some (not all) of the Juniors… rosie, dear, big girl or not, you’re not supposed to wrap yourself around the therapist.
Gratz on being a Real Analyst now, Muppet
Taters, that sucks more than Monica Lewinsky. I hope things get better soon.
Kitteh? Come home! Right now! Or some other kitteh will be getting all the treats and scritches, and you don’t want that to happen, do you?
So after work last night I went to the pub with my friend who’s getting married in August. We had some stuff to talk about as I’m organising a pamper day for a group of us, and I needed some extra dates from her. Had a fun evening, and since she missed my buffday, she bought me dinner. Result! Anyway, now I have a bunch of dates to work on, I’ve chosen the spa we’re going to and booked myself and a friend in for a day so we can test it out. Well, we couldn’t really take her somewhere we’d never tried, could we?
'im indoors is off up to Scotland today for a visit and will be gone until Tuesday. Four whole nights without him! Woot! I will be doing the usual shopping and domestic stuff tonight, tomorrow I have some clearing up to do at home and my friend’s coming to help me put some stuff up in the roof. On Sunday I am going to clean out my half of the study room (I only get half of the room because he’s got a broken multi-gym that takes up the other half, that he doesn’t use and refuses to get rid of). After that, there may be some Wii stuff and there may be some sofa-based vegging. And lots of cat fussing.
Up early, because apparently there’s some unwritten law that I can’t sleep in. Ever. Oh well…
I need to get to the hardware store when it opens anyway - I need some plastic wood to patch a couple of holes before I do my painting today. They open at 7, so I’ll head down early enough to grab a McBreakfast, then get my patch, and scoot back home. It’s gonna be another busy day.
I also need to contact our contractor and find out when the siding guys are coming. Also to verify that I don’t need to be here for them. So I’ll email him as soon as I post this.
Taz has made his mark on the newest window. There was evidence of kitteh claws in the not-quite-set caulk - apparently he sought to hang from the window edge in order to look outside. I’m going to need to re-caulk about 7 or 8 inches in total. Idiot feline.
Haze, your “overheard at the office” gave me a disturbing mental image of my office…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ and not goin’ to irk!
Soapy kitty, come back!
In a bit Ima go fire up (well, it’s electric so more like plug in) the smoker and smoke chicken boobs, a beef roast and a pork roast. MMMMMMM… smoked flesh! Chicken and sump’n shall be dindin tonight. Need to figure all that out.
Also, I have one very important and crucial task to complete today. I must go pick up a keg of green beer for tomorrow. This is a tremendous responsibility I must bear. Hee! Bear! Get It?
The screw holes in the window frame have been filled. According to the directions, the filler needs to dry for about 2 hours. Then I can sand and (if necessary) refill any gaps. Otherwise, I’m good to prime. Then I can scrub the other frames, paint them, then come back and paint this one. I foresee a messy day.
I think I’m gonna ask SIL to rake the blown leaves away from the back of the house. Then I can drag out the sucker/mulcher and pick them up. Tomorrow’s gonna be another gorgeous day - I foresee yard work being accomplished! I’d love for the siding guys come tomorrow, too, since we might get some rain on Mon and Tues. We shall see…
**rigs **- thanks for the comments. There was a major :smack: in there for me. I hadn’t thought about whiners who’d bitch about every little thing, expecting a hospital stay to be like a 5-star resort. I also hadn’t considered the night shift. And don’t worry, I won’t be baking myself. With my sweetie in the hospital, I don’t expect to be doing much domestical stuff at all. Thank goodness for McKay’s bakery! Oh, and the stores are full of Peeps! Surely all the nurses would love Peeps!!
As much as those little marshmallow Peeps oogy me, I gotta admit the chawklit covered ones are good. Weird when you bite into 'em and see yellow marshmallow, but good.
Smoker is smokin’ away! I’m usin’ a combo of apple and pecan chips which should flavor the boobs and roasts up nice. Plus I used some of Burly Butcher’s <snerk> Butt Rub <snerk>.
Speakin’ of which, the <snerk> Butt Rub <snerk> caused me to quote Shakespeare. I opened the cabinet where it lives and didn’t see it. Where’s the <Snerk> Butt Rub <snerk> I said to myself. I searched and found it towards the back of the cabinet. When I saw it, I said…
Wait for it…
Wait for it…
Be patient…
“Ah! There’s the rub!”
And y’all think I ain’t all couth and cultured!
Oh and I has a N.O.L. invite from OYKW to go eat Mexican vittles at the good Mexican place.
Read all, retained nothing. Gah - I’m getting old. Had a major brain fart that lasted a few days. I filled a prescription for glucose test strips last Saturday. I already had some left over from a previous scrip, and I thought those were the new prescription, and thought I was out of test strips already! :smack: I’m an idiot. And by the way - this shit is expensive! $100 for 100 test strips, $50 for 200 needles, close to $800 for my insulin for 3 months. I wish our company hadn’t gone to this new insurance plan. It bites.
Speaking of biting - I’m hungry. It’s time for breakfast. Laterz!
Nava, that certainly goes a long way towards explaining why the folks brought over by our Big Consulting Partner are barely out of the nursery. I’ve never seen a lot so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, yet so green. They make me feel decrepit.
Sending some come-home vibes your way, Soapy. Hope the kitteh makes an appearance soon.
Soooooooo sleepy. Hopefully today won’t be too hectic, but considering my calendar is a solid block of back-to-back-to-back-to-back meetings, that’s probably wishful thinking.
