Very Superstitious-A Hockey Mojo MMP

Dang, Rebo, I won’t be complaining about my meds any time soon…

Muppet, you have my deepest sympathies. Meetings do well and truly suck!!!

Aw, swampy, you don’t look like you’re reading the wrong stuff at all! And looking at YP, I figure you can take him easy in best 2 outta 3 falls! :stuck_out_tongue:

My siding and insulation has just been delivered! Huzzah!! The sliding door has a handle, and the trim around the windows is going on right now. I love it when a plan comes together!! You have no idea how happy I am that the aluminum siding will go away.

Meanwhile, I emptied the dishwasher, cleaned dead leaves out of my plants, gave the pothos a haircut and planted the cuttings in another pot, vacuumed the dining room, and moved the table back. Plus I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer that probably are ready for the dryer. Very productive day.

Taz almost escaped - my fault - but I grabbed him and the window guy was ready on the other side of the door - he knows stoopit cat isn’t supposed to go outside. We are talking about screening our front porch - it’s not huge, but it’ll make a nice place for the kittehs to get out when the weather’s nice, and we can put a couple of chairs out there. I want to tile it - right now it’s covered with peeling paint. I think the last owners just slapped some paint on it to sell it, not prepping the surface or anything. Anyway, we’ll lay a low brick wall, tile the floor, make some humongo screen panels, and we should be good to go.

Not this weekend, tho…

I’m in a good mood - can you tell?

swampy, reading the wrong lesson made the local news??? Boy, that’s a bit too much scrutiny for me!

soapy, have you checked with the local shelter? Kitteh may have been picked up.

boofae, you are my hero! You really know how to enjoy life.

I am really, really glad it’s Firday. That is all.

Tupug

Young Priest is kinda cute. Needs to shave, though.

ETA: I called the shelter yesterday, nothing. I’m going to put up signs in a few minutes. :frowning:

Hope the kitty comes home soon. :frowning:

A new server for one of our main data analysis tools was installed last night. The upgrade includes a new front end. Everyone’s bitching and moaning today about how hard it is to find anything on the new software. Plus, we’ve managed to bring the new server to its knees in an hour. I don’t know if that’s a sign that we code really badly and need to figure out how to write more efficient code or if we’re just really intensive users and they need to take that into account when deciding what server to install. Oh well. At least I don’t have anything super major important to run today.

I baked two loaves of rye bread - mine with molasses, a little cocoa powder, and charnushka seeds and KT’s with caraway seeds in a very traditional rye - on Wednesday. They’re sooooooooooo good. Well, mine is. KT says his is too but since I can’t stand caraway, I can’t attest to its quality. Last night I made (heated up, didn’t make from scratch) gnocchi with homemade pesto (in the freezer from last summer’s basil), peas, and toasted walnuts. It was excellent. Toasting the walnuts first made the dish. And a good accompaniment to some tuna steaks that I grilled outside. Yummmmmmmmm!

Cain’t be ye, that guy looks respectable!

Yesterday’s meeting of the gaming club was pretty empty, but we got some of the folk with the strongest Scottish accents. In a world that in some respects gets more homogeinised every day, I love hearing people say things like “ye heigh” (“this high”).

I have translated to English (sort of) the stuff I have to subtitle for my aptly-named Subtitling class; the sort-of is because the comedian talking uses accents and smooshed-up grammar, and I’ve respected that. Now I have to actually stick them onto the movie, which is the painful part…

KIIIIITTYYYYYY! TNC2.00000000! C’mon, we want you both within reach of a camera!

All righty then… I just finished cleaning up the leaves that SIL raked from the back of the house. I’m thinking about having a little mid-day meal before attacking the priming and painting. I needed to add more filler to the window frame since the first batch shrunk. So once I can sand it smooth, I’ll go get a little primer. Maybe I’ll wait till tomorrow to paint. We shall see.

It’s so loverly out, I’m thinking maybe I’ll take my new loppers and cut up the downed branches that are all over the yard. Good excuse for getting some fresh air and sunshine, right?

AUGH!

Paving crews are putting the much-needed final layer of paving on streets in this neighborhood, but beeep beeep they’re making a lot of beeep beeep beeep beeep beeep noise in the process. Why does it always seem that paving is done entirely with the machines in reverse? beeep beeep

**gotti **- they do it just to piss you off. :stuck_out_tongue:

Afternoon, all. Urgh. Nat woke me up at four this morning (he only woke briefly) but I spent the next hour fighting the desire to throw up, threw up, and then the alarm went off.

So Attacks Husband and my MiL got Nat all morning, and I stayed in bed. Feel sort of bleary in spite of it.
Hope the kitty comes back. (((Soapy)))
All sleepy. Time for another nap.

That’s just the half of it - I’m basically a full blood Siberian. I’m surprised they don’t mention me by name after all the blue-jeans and records Dad and I smuggled in during the “Old Days”.

soapy - prayers that kitty makes a fast and healthy return. I prefer pets to most people I know and how I felt when one went astray. It was never fun in any fashion.

Sooooooooooooo not into doing work. Can someone make the next 3 hours go by so I can go home?

Well, it looks like we’re putting in a deck tomorrow… Life is never dull at FairyChatEstates…

Life would be so much easier if the rest of my team wasn’t as opinionated and outspoken as I am, dammit.

(Until then, I’ll have to live with the fact that we’ll spend at least four hours a week pummelling each other into submission over fundamental differences of opinion)

I need a beer.

Actually, I need several beers. Mmmmm… beer.

No kitty, but apparently everyone in the neighborhood behind my parcel of land knows my cats! I was handing out flyers and they all knew Smokey and he brother. One man said her saw her yesterday, so that’s good news. He also asked if I wanted a chihuaua puppy. Yeah, no.

So, I am more hopeful now. Still wish she’d come back already.

I just woke up from a mediocre nap. I wasn’t wearing my CPAP mask and apparently I should have been. Sometimes I can get away with it and sometimes I can’t.

Not sure what’s going on this evening, but I hope to go out traveling in the sunshine tomorrow.

YP and I had a talk. He apologized for what he said. It’s like I thought when I calmed down, a case of mouth engaging before brain. The wrong reading did throw off his sermon as part of it did concern what was supposed to have been the reading. He even said, without me mentioning it, that he will set the record straight concerning the fact that I was given the wrong reading in front of the congregation on Sunday. See, he’s a good guy basically.

Ok, gotta go get dindin ready.

Ok. Call off the posse

Unless you’re still having a fish fry?

Then we roll to St. Pat’s!

Let’s head for St. Pat’s anyway. I need chips. I’m glad he apologized.
Talked to my midwife about booking a c-section next week, because kidlet doesn’t seem to be moving down in a “Let’s leave” sort of way. If I happen to go into labour we can cancel the section (obviously).
Right. Dinnertime. Provided by the pizza guy.

Oh, I started a thread about kid’s recordings- if anyone has any opinions, head on over. I need toddler music and stories for Gnat.

Fish and Chips is next Firday night. However, you have to do Stations of The Cross first. It’s Lent after all. We must suffer before we eat.

MMMMMM… smoked chicken boobs. ‘Twas good. Plus I have a bunch for Sunday. Have I mentioned that beside the fact that I shall spend all day tomorrow cookin’ for our St. Pat’s Celebration, I have nine people comin’ over for lunch after church Sunday? Fortunately one person is bringing a seven layer sallit (YUM!), one is bringing homemade rolls and one is bringing dessert. Oh and one other person is bringing wine. I shall have green beans (gotta have a green veggie after all) and company smashed N.O.T., which I have already made up and just need to heat through. Good thing da cave is presentable right now. Also, I am insane.

The smoker is cleaned, the green beer (once again I saved the day!) has been delivered and stuck in the fridge at church, and all the veggies, corned beef and beast roasts for the stew are at the church. All that’s left is to spend all day choppin’ and cookin’.

Unstick TNC version 2.0!

Ugh. I have a headache and I don’t feel like picking up my room and packing. But I have to. :frowning:
