I have to finish creating four illustrated cards tonight. I have two and a half to ink and then to scan and color them, which is the easy part. I guess I had better put on a movie and get back to work. I’m not planning on sleeping tonight.
After the cards are done, I have a buttload of stuff due Thursday night. Then I have to pack up and move out of the dorms for Spring break. Which is no vacation at all, just a chance to work on homework without being distracted by classes. me = sad kitty.
I do get one day of fun. I’m going to the Lompoc Renaissance Faire for one day with my guild. I’m trying to get my parents to come.
Yay! I’m off work Saturday. I’m taking one day of vacation time because dammit, I want a three-day weekend. Due to it being a resort and all we never ever ever ever get a holiday. Not one. So I’m going to take Saturday just because I want to. (It’s my birthday present to me. Sunday…yikes! Another one!)
It’s Mud Season. Egad. The snow is melting everywhere. The road in front of my house…dirt. Eeeew. It won’t last too long, but it’s kinda icky while it does. At least it’ll all be frozen in the morning.
OK – let’s try this. Print out a picture of a cute baby. Any cute baby from the internet will do. Then print my picture. Hold both next to your womb and shake the baby picture and say “this is you after a normal natural birth”. Then shake my picture and say “this is you from a C-section. Do you really really want that?”
Seriously Lis – we’ll keep you all in our prayers and best vibes. May this be the biggest hurdle and may it get much lower over the coming days.

Saint Patrick was a gentleman,
Who through strategy and stealth,
Drove all the snakes from Ireland,
Here’s a toasting to his health.
But not too many toastings
Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good Saint Patrick
And see all those snakes again.

I have one left to finish inking, then on to coloring…
I’m entertaining myself by watching really old episodes of You Can’t Do That on Television. I can tell spring has come - it’s 2 in the morning and 80 degrees in my room, with the window open and fan going.
Ah, St Patrick’s Day. I remember the first St Patrick’s Day I spent in Chicago. We started drinking at 10 in the morning and I had a hangover by 5. I ended the day hungover and high. Jesus Christ.
I have read but not retained, as usual…quiet week here on campus so I think I might try to get my hair cut today or tomorrow, depending on what appointments they’ve got at the salon here. They’re rarely busy so I should be able to get something easily enough. Hopefully it will be today because I didn’t wash my hair this morning and am feeling monumentally scruffy.
Last night I went to a performance of a Nell Gwynne monologue, done by a lady I’ve seen in various guises before. She does an awesome Elizabeth I, and manages to look incredibly fearsome in all her finery - apparently the Lizzie costume weighs 4st 3lbs (that’s 59lbs to you furriners) and the bodice alone has 80m of steel in it. Anyway, her Nell Gwynne was very entertaining and well worth the £5 we spent on the tickets. Her next performance is going to be Boudicca, so I’m looking forward t that.
Off in search of tea now, something has to make the morning bearable!
Good morning! We decided to change our alarm from 5 to 6, so I sorta got to sleep in. FCD and daughter have both gone to work. I’m about to hit the shower, then go out to get a sody and a biscuit for breakfast before beginning the happy job of denuding my windows! The contractors should be here in about 90 minutes or so.
**rosie **- I watched about 30 seconds of that video and got bored almost immediately. Maybe I’m humor impaired this morning…
I dreamed last night that I got a job in Australia, and while talking to my future boss on the phone (he had an American accent) I was suddenly transported to Australia. Then I woke up, so I have no idea where it was heading.
OK, and to continue my family’s long-standing St. Pat’s Day tradition:
The river is a nice, deep green. Lovely day for it, too. Since I now work at a Catholic hospital, I’m in camouflage --I’m wearing green today. Since I’m Orange Irish, I have orange undies on. Just sharin’.
Good morning! And a good top o’ the morning to all,
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
My daughter didn’t get the video either, FCM - sorry Rosie although I did (LOL!) so it was a 50/50 in my house this morning.
Was a bit late getting in, but am staying a bit later so I can make a little more credit time. It’s not too bad once I get the gears moving and have had a bite to eat. Og help me, I am actually going to go for as long as I can without taking leave - which is why I do need to build up that credit time!
Again, why does everything take longer than I think it will?
I have five hours to finish these cards. I have one 90% colored (enough to show), one about 30% colored (the fact that I kept having to go back into Photoshop to fix the lineart is slowing me down), and one a half more to ink, scan, and color. And inking takes the longest. ARGH.
On the plus side, they look really fricking awesome, especially this latest one.
