Vintage shows I wish they'd air instead of reality shows

The Felix the Cat screen test?
Hitler opening the 1936 Olympics?
Live boxing matches from Madison Square Garden, broadcast over a whopping 10 mile radius?

I’ll second The Monkees–Nickelodeon used to show it when I was coming home from school. I loved that show, and the music is classic too.

I’d watch 'em, if it were even possible to show them–did they even have recording capabilities back then?

Another vote for Perry Mason and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

I’d like to add the original Kolchak, The Night Stalker.

I happen to be lucky enough to have a PBS channel that plays One Foot In The Grave, but would like to see them bring back Allo, Allo ,as well.

That would be Northern Exposure.

I’d like to add Wonderfalls to the list.

The Larry Sanders Show. Even more pressing since only the first season is on DVD.

Off-topic a little, but I’ve been watching some TV series instantly on Netflix, like Kolshack that someone mentioned above.

If you have broadband and a Netflix account, you can watch some of these.

CPO Sharkey

Open All Night
Hot L Baltimore
Threat Matrix

The original miniseries, Rich Man Poor Man, with Nick Nolte and Peter Strauss as two brothers and Ed Asner as their father, whose lives take dramatically different paths. The show contains deep moral messages about following one’s dreams and the corruption of power. And has a lot of really memorable characters.

For a little variety, I wouldn’t mind seeing The Midnight Special.

I’d go for:
The Man and the Challenge
Peter Gunn
The Ernie Kovacs Show

along with a boatload of the shows already mentioned.

You guys have such great memories…so many of these shows I’d forgotten about. So many were so very good…or just fun. Sigh.

how about some shows from the UK?

Black Books

or

Spaced (STILL waiting for the DVD in the US) ??

What, The Young Ones, One Foot in the Grave, Doctor Who, and Hamish Macbeth don’t count?

I want to see the mini-series of yore return.

Let’s run Roots, Shogun, The Thorn Birds, Lonesome Dove, The Stand and all the other good, long (at least six hours long) mini-series, the ones that did justice to the book. I heard a rumor TNT did a four hour mini-series of Mists of Avalon a few years back…but I’m sure that’s just a rumor.

(Yes, I know Roots is on TVOne right this very minute and Sci-Fi Channel airs **The Stand ** every one in awhile.)

Surely I’m not the only one who’d be happy to see episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place re-aired?

It is a mini-series.

I know. I saw it. I watched it with my SILs. They came over both nights and we ate caviar and crackers and sipped wine. I had turned them on to the book and they were as eager for the mini-series as I was. I taped it while I was watching so I could keep it.

When it was over I said, “Well, shit” and rewound the tape. A friend of mine at work and I hugged each other in despair the next day.

I’m treating it like Star Trek V or Highlander III…it never happened.

Ok, my suggestions: It’s About Time, The Flip Wilson Show, the Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Wonderful World of Disney, Welcome Back Kotter

(ETA: Replying to Ivylass) Ah, gotcha. I haven’t seen it. Is it really that bad? It strays from the plot/spirit of the book that much?!
