Virtual Sunday dinner thread

Okay, we haven’t got together for dinner in quite a while.

I didn’t want to hijack this thread. http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=806760

So, everyone is invited to Sunday dinner at my place! Just one rule, if requested you must supply recipes. Even if it’s just showing the reciept from the store deli!

As requested by swampbear, I’ll make a pecan pie. I’m also making a squash pie, very similar to pumpkin pie. I do dinner rolls really well to, but can somebody else supply some good jelly/jam?

Well, I have a friend who makes strawberry jam with jalapenos which is really wonderful. Can I bring a jar of that even though I didn’t make it?

Tomorrow Sunday or a Virtual Sunday?
I just got some pumpkin spice Kisses & I have lots of cream cheese so I could do my pumpkin cheese cake; however, I have to be out really early tomorrow & won’t be home until mid/late afternoon, which means I don’t have time to make it for tomorrow’s dinner.
Also, what if it’s only a kinda-sorta framework of a recipe; you know, like a pinch of this & a dash of that?

It’s Virtual Sunday, so no matter when you get here you were here!:stuck_out_tongue: And any kind of directions is okay.

Go for it! I guess I should require the recipes, but we can exchange info!

My oven’s up and operating again, so I’ll bring rosemary lemon roasted chicken.

Bump

We have a good start here but there’s room for more!

I’m in for apple dumplings and cream.

We seem to have a lot of dessert (not that there is anything wrong with that). Maybe I should bring my Shakertown Corn Pudding, or some Scalloped Oysters?

Can I bring appetizers? I’ll need to use your back yard grill, a metal tray, a pot, three sticks of butter, a dip serving bowl, two large salad bowls, a pair of tongs, and a plastic cooler filled with ice and beer.

puts down a 30lb sack of steamer clams

I’ll put the two salad bowls and the dipping bowl on your kitchen table and bring the cooler, the tongs, the butter, the pot, and the cooler to your grill.

I’m heating the butter in the pot and will pour it into the serving bowl when it melts.

I’ll use the lit grill and the tongs to cook and turn over the clams until they open, which I’ll then put on the metal tray. When the tray gets full, someone needs to empty them into the first salad bowl. The second bowl is for shells.
Steamers are best eaten in the kitchen after being dipped in drawn butter and they go great with beer and good conversation.

As for the beer… here… have one…!

Lemon bars for dessert? Brussels sprouts with browned butter(thank you Martha Stewart) to accompany the main course?

I’ll be making a BIG pot of escarole soup with meatballs and shredded chicken, sometimes known as Italian Wedding Soup, for Thanksgiving dinner(family tradition), but Icould be persuaded to make some for OUR dinner.

Burp. Scuse me, can I have another beer?* I’ve never had the clams, but they are good too!

Please, please!

If it’s just a virtual Sunday, can it be a virtual Easter Sunday? That means that dandelions would be in season, and I can bring my gramma’s dandelion salad with bacon dressing (which is incidentally my absolute favorite food).

Bring whatever you like, it sounds like something I’d like to try!

Okay, it’s been a while, but how about I bring a perok?* Fish pie, but it’s much better than it sounds! Of course a pan of alogics (fry bread) just because, and maybe some cold boiled and sliced octo with a dip straight out of the village to snack on with the steamers and beer!

*It’s not bad grammar if I am using village speak, dat’s da way we talk up dere in da willage!

Shall I bring the Frank’s ™ hot sauce?
