We’re back from [del]eatin’ all the bacon in the world[/del] the pancake brekkie. ‘Twas really good. Also been to the likker sto’. Now cookage shall begin shortly.
Higgs and I snoozed on the recliner till **FCD **came out and woke us up. So I showered and we went to breakfast, after which he went to work and I went to WalMart, which was blessedly empty at that hour.
When I came home, I checked my computer connections, popped off the cover and dusted it out, then tried to start it. Nada. I can’t imagine it’s related to our power outage, since it was off at the time. Anyway, I emailed a local place to find out their hours and if they still do hardware repair. Their website is heavy on “cloud” stuff. So we shall see. I’m guessing power supply - how expensive can that be? But I was also thinking about getting a new one, so maybe I’ll just need them to recover my data/pics/docs. We shall see.
Guess I should do a chore or two, ya think?
I have jambalaya started. Other stuff will be added when needed. OYKW has gone to procure shrimpies, which will be the last thing to go in. I’m glad I pigged out earlier cause da cave smells so nummy! If’n I was hongry 'twould be torture!
That would be my guess.
$40 if you buy it on the web, $200 if someone does it for you.
I don’t DIY with computer hardware as I have no knowledge or training. I’ve got a BIL who is a computer guy, but by the time I drive the 90 minutes there and back twice, plus listen to him drone on and on, I’d rather pay a pro.
The power supply is all plugs that won’t go in the wrong direction or socket. Manufacturers have begun using their own plug configuration, though.
I was going to replace the PS for a guy at work, but when I heard that the Dell motherboard sometimes dies with the PS, he backed out. I found a junker PS that would fit, and sure enough the MB was fried.
You’re already way over my head…
OK, I just did the dishes, tidied the kitchen, tossed a load in the washer, vacuumed and… … … dusted! Go me! I actually worked up a sweat. So now I’m taking a break. Because I can.
What’s the next step past blurf? Slept very badly last night, facing a Saturday evening closing shift. Yee-haw.
flytrap fried some guy’s mother’s board. How is that so hard to understand MOOOOOOM?
Speakin’ of 'puter related stuff, OYKW wants an iphone. What? One can surf the net on an iphone so that makes it ‘puter related, sorta, kinda. Anywho, since he is upgrade eligible, this shall be done, I guess. When I told him this could happen RIGHT NOW as in order it, see if’n it’s available at the local sto’, and if’n it is, he could have it in his paws this afternoon. Then he said he wants to think about it a day or two. :dubious:
ETA:
nettie I believe the next step is BLERGH.
Foe giggles and grins, unplug the power cord from both ends and plug back in. You don’t have a UPS/surge suppressor for the computer? Put one on the Hexmass list.
I already did the unplugging thing. I pulled it out from under the desk and put it on the counter - partly to dust it, partly to check if maybe it was the outlet, but it wasn’t. I was hoping maybe one of the cats has knocked the plug loose, but no such luck.
I’ve found a couple of local places - waiting for messages back from them, tho I don’t expect to hear anything till Monday.
Make a spice and beer run. Next up, hockey.
The new (to me) 'puter is mostly hooked up. I have to make a run to :eek:WallyWorld:eek: for another power strip (apartment was built in the early 90s, not nearly enough electrical outlets) and a new remote for the teevee(the old one died last night), then it’s time to hook up the second monitor and install more software.
Blergh! I have a cold and just feel grumpy. Oh, and my MiL is back. She left for only two weeks. :smack:
{{{Gotti}}} sorry about your friend. He looked like a lot of fun.
Hopefully Ruble survived. I guess we’ll hear later. :dubious:
**FCD **is home. He’s braver than I - he opened up the 'puter and found the power supply part number, and I’ve ordered one. We’ve got a 30-day return window, so if that’s not the problem, we’re still OK, I guess. Meanwhile, I’ve got the laptop connected directly to the modem and I’ve plugged in my keyboard. Except for the smaller screen, it’s like being on my other computer.
I think tomorrow, I’ll do a major overhaul of this desk and stuff. It’s a mess.
**red **- this house was built in '75 and it doesn’t have nearly as many outlets as I think it should have. Far too many wind up way behind furniture. But we deal…
I’m jealous.
**BBBobbio **- you can love **doggio **too - it’s not a contest!
:dubious:
(Emoticonversation)

I love you, doggio.

**BBBobbio **- you can love **doggio **too - it’s not a contest!
kind of pointless now for me to say “I love you, Bobbio.” huh?
