Carol is the best choice. Pragmatic and willing to do what needs to be done, even if it’s not very pretty.
I understand voting for Daryl, but he’s better as a #2 or an enforcer. Point him in a direction, and he’ll get done what needs getting done, but actually finding that direction might not be his forte.
Glenn might be good, but… he’s too preoccupied with Maggie, seemingly even more than Rick is concerned with Carl and lil Asskicker, put her in trouble and he’d not be able to think about what’s best for the group.
Abraham is too hard assed, he’d piss off too much of the group too often.
Carl could probably get there someday, but not today.
Michonne, too much of a loner, and even though she’s working on that, she’s too used to deciding just for herself, even if she’ll fight to the death for her friends if she has to.
The rest, I don’t see as having much leadership potential.
I went with Glenn, mostly because of the way he went off in search of Maggie when they were separated…
He actually took the time to assemble some body armor and gather some supplies and weapons. From what we’ve been shown on TV, he’s been the only one that has demonstrated some ability to think beyond the next 45 seconds or so. Plus, he seems to have something of a sense of morality, or ethics, or whatever you want to call it, such that he could actually articulate it to the rest of the group, and finally develop some rules for survival in the new world.
As of now, virtually everything our group has developed has been pretty ad hoc. Their time at the prison was as structured and well-thought-out as anything they’ve done, and it clearly was only hanging on by a thread. They did stuff there, but they didn’t accomplish anything. I get the feeling that Glenn as benevolent dictator would have accomplished more.
I agree - Daryl is just about the best right-hand man you could ask for, provided he’s bought into your leadership.
While I agree that Glenn is incredibly preoccupied with Maggie, I get the feeling that he knows this and so, should something happen that puts Maggie in peril, he’d either abdicate, or go it alone, or otherwise insulate the rest of the group from his possibly impaired decision-making.
Tyrese is the one I would most want to follow, if I were part of that group. Maggie would be another good choice. Carol has lost too much of her soul, which is the same problem Rick has.
Probably Carol, or probably Michonne. I’m torn. Much as I love Darryl, I don’t think he’s all that smart, he would make a terrible, terrible leader. I would hope he would be a stolid, dependable, backup #2 man behind any new leader.
