Wallace & Gromit movie to be released Oct. 14

I love Wallace & Gromit. My favorite scene, after the mice with sunglasses, is poor sleeping Wallace, in The Wrong Trousers, being dragged through the heist.

The trailer is a tad lackluster, IMO, but I’ll be in line anyway.

I’ll be taking 6 year-old Kizarvexilla to see that one when it comes out. Chicken Run is one of our favorite movies, and we only discovered Wallace & Grommit afterward. But we’re devoted fans now.

Ignore the trailer. It’s at least as good as, if not better just because of length, than the shorts!

Also, don’t let Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter throw you off: they’re not celebrity voices for the sake of celebrity voices. Not only are their characters hilarious, they blend in perfectly to the W&G village (universe just doesn’t seem charming enough).

Great visual gag from literally the first 30 seconds of the movie: Gromit graduated from Dogworts university

Yes it is at least as good as the previous efforts. The short shown before it was also hilarious. I don’t know who it was by, it was a computer animated short about some penguins, a polar bear, and being lonely at Christmas.

That was starring the penguins from Madagascar, who according to my gf were the best things about that movie.

No kidding; this year has been utter shiite for movies.

I’m always looking around for a copy of Electronics For Dogs. Anybody know where I can pick up a copy?

“It’s the wrong trousers, Gromit! The trousers–they’ve gone wrong!”

BTW, while we’re talking claymation, does anybody know what happened to the Spitting Image folks? We didn’t get much of their stuff over on this side of the Pond but they did a special on Reagan that was utterly hilarious.

Being plugged in the advertising along with Were-Rabbit. “The Madagascar Penguins in: A Christmas Caper.” PDI/Dreamworks production.

I’ve got a copy I can loan to you.

It’s not in the best of condition, though.
In fact, it’s a little dog-eared…

My favorite scenes… from The Wrong Trousers

-During opening title sequence, the camera pans what I believe to be the wall of Wallace’s bathroom. The cast reliefs that are on the wall appear to be fish. They are, in fact, rocket-ships.

-As the un-wake-able Wallace is being walked along the ceiling of the museum, we see in the out-of-focus foreground a small model showing pre-historic beings carrying spears and wearing loincloths; ostensibly for a hunt. They’re penguins.

In A Close Shave, W&G are hiding behind a fence. Wallace comments on Gromit’s predicament as an escapee from jail:

“They’ll hunt you down! Like…well…a dog.”

Sailboat

I saw Curse of the Were-Rabbit last night.

It’s not as good as The Wrong Trousers, but it’s probably the equal of A Close Shave. Very entertaining.

There was a cinemafull of kidlets, and the movie held their attention all the way through; they were entirely silent except for the regular punctuation of delighted squealing.

There’s a handful of rather subtle jokes that make adults guffaw but go totally over the heads of the squirts. “May contain nuts,” indeed.

If there’s any justice, it’ll be a massive hit.
