Want to know what hell is?

Nav, wally, and fuzzy:
Allow me to respectfully ask again: What of all the good people in this world who do not follow the teachings of Jesus? If they live a good life, and follow God’s commandments in their own way, won’t they be forgiven by Jesus and be saved?

Soup allow me to respectfully state it again:

There is only ONE WAY! (John 14:6)

Stop telling God what to do.

Soup, it’s my opinion that a benevolent God would condemn a soul for all of eternnity.

What happens to people who have never heard of Jesus? Are they condemned also.

That’s an absurdity.

If you read the book of Job, you will see that the entire time Job is being tested he realizes his inability to reconcile himself with God, regardless of the things he does in the world. He understands God’s grace alone will bring him into reconciliation. Job’s faith that God would provide the “means for reconciliation” (Jesus Christ the Messiah) resulted in Job’s salvation. Even when the Messiah had not yet come, people believed in God to provide the “means for reconciliation,” by which they received their salvation.

There is only ONE WAY! (John 14:6)

I read Job. What impressed me about God is that He knows that indiscriminantly killing all of a man’s children is ok, as long as the man gets some more kids later…

For what it’s worth, I don’t believe that God really thinks that way. It’s my belief that the book of Job is a non-inspired “morality play” and should never have been included in the cannon.

navx2man:
Forgive my ignorance. What is the source of that quote "Jesus is perfect and without sin . . . "?

I cannot quote Scripture and I certainly cannot refute anything said here through specific examples. I can only offer what I believe. I’ve been taught Jesus loves us all, and came to us as a teacher. He offers the lesson, and like any students, results vary. Some of us “get it” better than others. Some take parts of what He taught and apply them to our lives in different ways. But He is there to teach us the lessons whenever we need it. I don’t believe He will punish the students that don’t get it, if someone truly makes the effort, they will be forgiven. If someone chooses a different teacher to reach the same goals, they will have salvation. I think only someone who refuses to try to learn will suffer, but not through punishment. They will be just be lost. Whether that means damnation or (to continue my school analogy) simply being “left back”, I can’t say. I think there is a force that would like to see us fail, which is why Jesus has tried to make it easy for us to follow Him.

Heck, if you put enough gun powder behind it, anything works in a cannon.

Now the canon is a different matter.

Hey…it’d give a whole new meaning to “spreading the word”!

I meant to say a benevolent God would NOT condemn a person for eternity.

Exactly, Wally, but the God of the OT is not benevolent. Those who argue that the OT is the literal and inspired truth, and who also believe that the character of God does not change, do not worship a benevolent God.

They often claim to, but the proof is in teh details.

WallyM7: Jesus loves you and so do I. Now will you repent and ask God to save your soul?

Jesus doesn’t love anyone. He’s dead.
And your posts clearly show that you don’t love anyone either.

Oh, and please don’t pray for me. I’ll do my own.

A seminar on time travel will be held two weeks ago.

Now, now. The death of an intellect does not imply that Jesus is dead.

“It is lucky for rulers that men do not think.” — Adolf Hitler

Jesus isn’t dead he lives in me! Of course your to busy sticking your head in the sand to see the truth. Why can’t you understand Jesus lovesyou and he died for you and he would do it again even if you were the only one

Isn’t it crowded in there?

I doubt it.

Yeah, but you can drive in the carpool lane; particularly since Jesus is a trinity.

Condemnant qui non intelligent

David what are you an atheist or what?

Thank you, Lib, for choosing a great time to pick up on my straight line!

GG: What ever gave you that idea?
