I just remembered that Matt Millen is unemployed. That makes me happy.
He kept his job for 7 years, did a wretched job and made 5 million dollars per year. That makes me less than happy.

There is no football substance here. The Lions defense has allowed the weakest QBs in the NFL to string career days against them. J.T. O’Sullivan, Aaron Rogers and Orton have posted their career games against the Lions this young season. We can not score . We can not defend. I took my dogs for a walk during the game.
Which raises the question- would you rather be the Rams, losing every game with Pro Bowl talent all over the roster, or the Lions, losing every game with Arena Bowl talent all over the roster?

I keep them on leashes. They want to kill,kill.kill. Strange how beagles are so sweet and manageable until they get on a trail. Then they do not know I exist.
The Lions are sad. We have drafted and signed for speed the last couple seasons. How about drafting for the ability to tackle. This year we were to emphasize the run. We are at the bottom of the NFL in running. What we make a point of in our drafting and planning, fails miserably. All pro players have talent ,strength and power. Yet ours do not perform. I do not get it.
Is the neocon concept of ownership ,hands off hire pros to do it, a mistake? Should the owners get more involved. They just hire people and stand back and watch the conflagration. Would we be better off with top down micromanagement? Football has turned very ugly around here.
That’s because of shitty playcalling and because your D lets you get behind three scores in EVERY game, though. The backs and line are solid.
Thats what I hear. I am looking hard but it is difficult to see. I wanted to believe. I hate to think the entire program need to be blown up . I am getting there though.
You can score rapidly on the ground too. If you chew up chunks of yardage against your opponent you can demoralize them. It is not happening.
So, yeah. Another week, another loss. Martz was obviously the scapegoat. At least last year, we were dangerous. This year, we’re just a joke. We need to play the Rams. I’d watch that.
Loser has to open a university and play in Division 1-A.

No doubt. There are no walk-ons in the NFL.
The more I watch the NFL, though, the more I think an association football-style division system would be great- every year the bottom two-ish teams go down to the minor leagues, top two-ish minor league teams come to the NFL.
Not with the amount of money that’s in the NFL. No way, no how, no McCain.

True- but if the NFL was running the lower division(s), I bet they wouldn’t mind so much.
The one thing I really like about baseball is that it has a viable minor league, since it’s run by MLB. Independent minor leagues are just way too likely to go bust.
How cool would an NFL Division 2 be? No more whining about expansion, every major-ish city finally gets a team, etc.
