Man that guy was freaking awesome. That double-move after the reception at about a minute into the video against the Bucs is incredible.
I wish he’d never retired when he did. I wasn’t finished watching the best RB of my lifetime.

I had season tickets during his whole career. I remember when he was a rookie and they showed some game film from an exhibition game. I thought, he can not be that good they must have done something with the film. He was.
He was indeed. Talk about a special talent. Him and Jim Brown are the best ever. I don’t care what he didn’t win or whom he played for. That guy was electric. Nobody compares, not anyone. Keep your Emmitt’s, LT’s, Payton’s, etc.
Barry was the shit. I loved that move he put on the Packers in that video, that extra “hop-step” to keep his legs free from tacklers to get himself pointed upfield and moving. His combination of speed and vision is incredibly rare. Not to mention his longevity (even though he retired early) playing for a shit team like the Lions and receiveing the pounding he did playing for them.
The high lite film misses the point. He did something like that every game. He made incredible runs to get 4 or 5 yards too. He used to blow defenders knees out. I wonder if the opponents enjoyed playing against him. They sure showed respect.
Well, he blew one knee out. Just certain-Hall-of-Famer Rod Woodson’s knee.
Football substance will not be seen in Detroit. They did not sell out, so no local TV. They have sold out for years. The economy sucks and the Lions do not deserve support. If they do not sell out for a while. The games will not be on TV. Fans will kind of forget about them. So doesn’t blacking out a game have a reverse effect? Wont it result in less attendance in the future?
It is supposed to prompt the opposite: the need to see the team will drive people to actually head to the stadium, rather than sitting on their sorry behinds at home drinking refridgerator beer and channel-surfing when the Lions prove to be something other than a professional football team.
I think that you are in for some lean times on the TV in Detroit on Sunday. You could always turn to Fox Soccer Channel and watch real football.
I will watch racquetball on line. Championship match at 1
Record in tact. Lost again.
Pity they don’t play the Bungles this year.
You’re right. They were worried about CERN opening up a black hole. Two teams can’t lose the same game. A void would open up and swallow everyone.
You could have a 0-0 tie, but that might imply each team’s defenses did well and that’s unlikely.
I’m willing to say at this point that the Browns got the better deal out of the Rogers for Bodden + 3rd trade. Rogers is just awesome. For some stupid reason the Jags kept trying to run up the gut on us and Rogers just owned them. And he blocked a kick too.
How has Bodden done this year?
Definitely agree with that one, although I suppose it depends on whether Andre Fluellen (the FSU DT the Lions drafted with the pick) turns out to be any good. He’s barely sniffed the field thus far.
Bodden was pretty bad up until a couple of weeks ago- he didn’t even make the starting lineup for the first few weeks of the season, though he has now.
I’m too busy getting our next president into office. I haven’t watched a down of any kind of football all year long. I haven’t watched any baseball after the All-Star break.
Bodden has been largely absent. I told you that Big Baby was nice.
Well, at least you’re on one winning team (for now).
HEY! I resemble that remark!

Actually it IS a pity they don’t play. What a titanic struggle that would be…one for the ages, I tell ya.
Historically the Lions never seem to adjust at halftime. I do not know if that is over rated, but we seem to stick with what failed in the first half.
The clamor for Stanton to get a couple starts in getting louder. Orlavsky has had only 3 starts but does not seem to be a play maker. He is just a QB. Perhaps a professional backup for 15 years. But, not a starter.
Stanton can run and make something out of nothing. That is dangerous because they get hurt. Then you have to go to a QB with a different philosophy. Nothing helps.
The Lions tried out Daunte Culpepper yesterday. How is that different than Kitna? If coach thinks a couple victories will save his job ,he is nuts. If he plays for the future and shows some progress, he has a chance.
Culpepper is only 31 years old. If he could get back to even 90% of what he once was (remember, it was only four seasons ago that he set the NFL record for combined rushing/passing yardage and would have been a slam-dunk MVP choice if not for Manning’s 49 TDs) he could be the future, or at least be the guy for four years.
Culpepper cancelled an appointment with the Chiefs citing better opportunities elsewhere.
Being dropped in favor of Detroit has to sting.
