From an SI article today - a fairly amazing statistic:
In fairness, Matt Ryan made his debut against them, so he could have posted a zero and it would have been a season high.
looks again
137?!?!?
Never mind.
Kyle Orton has a chance Sunday to set his career record twice this season.
(Who would’ve thought I’d be looking forward to starting Orton on my fantasy team?)
Really? I helped my country by electing a new president, give up all my football watching until now for my game to get blacked out? Then when I try to find the game on the radio, they’re crushed in a glorious manner?
Sonofabitch. I may have to take up drinking.
Lions held the Jags under 40 and still lost. With a defensive effort like that ,they should be proud. The Lions put 14 on the board.
Drew Stanton’s stats: 6/8 94 1 0.
I think the Lions have their franchise player.
Stop it. My sides. They’re split. The laughing. No mas.
Er… you can’t really read anything into garbage time stats like that. Not to mention half his yards came on a 50ish yard “throw it up and hope” pass to Calvin Johnson.
C’mon. The guy has a lifetime 75% completion percentage and has never, ever thrown an interception in the NFL. How can you argue with that?
Neither have I.
Expect a call.
Alright, but with my track record of ball security I’m holding out for starter money.
So, did Herm Edwards seal his fate by going for two and losing or does he deserve respect for having the cods to go for it? I say the former…though I realize the botched extra point earlier might have something to do with it.
Chris Mortensen pointed out on NBC that the Chiefs were missing three defensive starters at kickoff, and lost five more during the game- and thus Herm would have rightly believed that if the Chargers won the toss they’d probably score.
I think going for it was absolutely the right decision, even if the play call was half-baked.
Over the last eight or so seasons, 2-point conversions are almost exactly a coin flip (fail is leading succeed by 1).
Daunte may help. In the locker room talk he sounded different from the other players. They always talk about how hard they play and practice and how bad they feel…again.
He kind of called them out. He talked about effort and losing attitude. They have lost like 16 out of last 17. Some have lost their entire pro careers.
Daunte can’t hurt, but I think he wants to stay with a place for a while. I just don’t know if he can get that here in Detroit.
He can throw but he looked huge. Listed at 260. I think he could eat 260.
He was well know around here (UCF) as a buffet monster. He used to eat in class constantly- I had a 250 student lecture with him freshman year (he was a senior) and you could hear him and his friend munching from across the auditorium.
Course, nobody ever said anything to him, even though he wasn’t that popular on campus until he got drafted.
He’s always been as big as or bigger than the linebackers trying to take him down.
Lions cut Henson yesterday to pick up a kicker. Orlavsky probably needs an operation on his thumb. He refuses to get it ,because he does not want to pass up a chance to play.It is not throwing hand. That leaves us with Culpepper and Stanton. Dante has barely played in the last couple years. Stanton has not shown if he has what it takes to be a pro QB. The most important position on the team is completely unsettled.
