The Ford Family still owns them. That is the root of all evil. They change coaches like underwear. The team has no continuity . Every player with any talent knows he will be around longer than the coach. Marinelli has his son in law on the staff. Hard to believe he was the best man available.
He was the Bucs’ linebackers coach before following Papa Marinelli to Detroit, and he didn’t get the Bucs’ job through Marinelli.
The problem with the Lions’ defense isn’t coaching. They run the Tampa 2 almost exactly the way Monte Kiffin does. The problem is that the FIVE former Bucs players they signed to run it were backups or spot starters for the Bucs, except Dwight Smith and Brian Kelly- and Kelly is three years and about four knee surgeries past his prime. I’ve always thought Smith was a terrific player, especially in Tampa, but it’s worth noting that New Orleans and Minnesota both waived him (and it’s not like either team is known for secondary play).
This play-by-play guy on NFL Network for the Jets/Pats game might be the most brutal commentator I’ve ever heard. If I found out tomorrow that this guy was working JV Middle School Football games in New Mexico last week I wouldn’t be even slightly surprised.
I’ve never been a huge fan of whichever Gumbel usually works for NFL Network, but now I’m praying for his return. Praying.
Gus Frerotte isn’t terrible, given some protection and a running game, which he has. Taverius Jackson is terrible. At least Gus is a vet and can manage an offense, Jackson is clueless.
Just be sure to put extra pads on the walls and goalposts…
Amazing. Gus Frerotte is on the same team as other people that have done really bad things and Frerotte is the one that gets the shit.

The hits just keep on coming. Lions lost again,now 0 -10. They did not play badly. Actually had a couple leads. They gave up like 270 yards on the ground though. Why can’t a pro football player tackle? Why can’t a whole defense tackle on a one on one situation?
Brand spankin new QB .Daunte .threw 2 bad intercepts just like every Lion QB does.
At least Daunte put up some points, though. You’re in every game now, whereas for the first 6 weeks of the season every game was over by halftime.

I must tell you Detroit fans that Shaun Rogers is probably the best D-lineman I’ve ever seen.
I feel bad for him. He got out of one suckhole to end up in another. Yet the season is practically over and he’s still out there giving full effort. I’ve gotta give the guy credit - it’s too bad he’s surrounded by 10 members of some high school’s JV team.
