Penn totally deserved it. However, the Depp fangirl in me is disappointed.
Well, there’s always ROTK for Best Picture.
Good for Penn, that was a great performance. I figured Murray was the favorite and Depp moved up after winning the SAG award.
Well, Penn made it to the latter half of his first sentence before the politics emerged. Much longer than I had anticipated.
So, drm, what did you win?
(I’m chalking this up to silver linings and all that.)
Now we just wait through another 75 minutes of buttkissing and commercials before they open the last envelope?
Did anyone else besides me think that Sean Penn basically did his “I wish I were Rober De Niro” act in Mystic River? Feh.

This year’s ceremony seems remarkable for having no particularly memorable speeches or incidents. No one hijacked with a (major) political speech, no streaker, no embarassing moments nothing unexpected. Kinda dull, unless you’re a big LOTR fan (I’m not).
Jackson’s gonna have to build a new wing onto his house to hold all of those little golden men.
Okay, I know he doesn’t get to take all of them home.
Who gets to take home a best picture oscar? Or do all the memebers the principle cast get a copy?
Murray should have been more gracious.
I was hoping he would win, but he could have applauded Penn. It sort of pisses me off that he didn’t.
only $10, but it’s ten bucks I didn’t have yesterday. In all honesty, I thought it was a great performance in Mystic River, but I thought he was better in 21 Grams. It was one of my favorites of last year.
Well, my all-time favorite Peter Jackson film is still **Bad Taste ** – which is probably a confession on my part of same. But I swear, that shaky, handheld-cam DIY flick had a style, an attitude, and a zero-budget, we’re-best-buds-doing-this-on-the-weekends-over-a-period-of-four-years verve all its own.
Hard to believe the same guy went on to everything that followed…

What other films have swept the board? By that I mean won everything they have been nominated in (for the sake of argument where nominated for uhh… 6 or more categories.
