Watch band snugness and gender

You got the stainless-and-gold Sub with the blue face? SWEET! If I ever wanted a watch with gold on it, it would be that one. (I’m partial to stainless, but the gold looks good on the particular watch you linked.)

You can get fake bracelets that look close to the originals. Here’s one for $20. Of course you can get better quality ones, and even outstanding counterfeits. Of course, you can find used genuine bracelets as well.

I know about the ‘sticker shock’ of genuine parts. I currently have the orignal bracelet on my GMT II; but I found a new, genuine Jubilee bracelet for it. And I did have to do some searching. Rolex discontinued the Jubilee option before I bought mine, so they wouldn’t sell me one. It took a while to find a jeweler who had one with the correct end links. Here’s a comparison of the two styles. The Oyster bracelet (how it looks currently) is from the Rolex site from about eight years ago. The Jubilee (flashy) bracelet is from the site, and I stuck it onto the original image.

I’ve been thinking about putting the grey-and-black ‘James Bond’ NATO band on my Sub. Maybe I’ll do that when it’s time to overhaul the GMT II. I’m not sure how the James Bond strap would look with a blue-faced Sub. (Mine’s black.)
