Wayward Pines Season 1

Who was the guy in the video at the Golden Gate Bridge? Are we suppose to understand how that video is on that computer in the underground room? It was indicated that there were many similar videos. Are we suppose to know yet what’s up with that?

Well, in the videos Theresa mentioned that there were other videos from other cities, so I suppose they could do this from another city, though it would be boring if were just more of the same.

I noticed that as well. I just chalked it up to she was (or appeared to be) mean and evil when Ethan wasn’t accepting of the ways of WP, but now that he has, she’s much nicer, she does still have a bit of an edge though.

Regarding the Golden Gate Bridge video, I don’t understand how they go that. You’d think cell towers would be down. My other question about that is, why would people who don’t believe anything they’ve been told about what’s on the outside, believe a video that could have been faked? ISTM, the best way to show them is take them up to hill or bluff that overlooks the fence and let them see for themselves. That (and the helicopter ride) is what got Ethan to change his mind.

The videos are records of the expeditions Pilcher’s Volunteers sent out after they were thawed out.

They recognize him as “Adam”. But at the end of the video, we hear, “Adam!” and he apparently drops the camera and it cuts to their reactions and they seem horrified. Was Adam someone they know, who recently went on this expedition and somehow sent a video back before he was killed? Or are we not suppose to know that yet? Which is to say, no spoilers please.

He was the supervisor, and as said upthread - this is one of the early expeditions before they understood the threat/etc.

That makes sense (as much as any of it makes sense…). I couldn’t figure it out. I suppose they took helicopters to various cities around the country. They would have had to carry extra fuel or maybe set up supply bases as they explored further and further from WP over time. You can only go so far on a tank of fuel, especially considering that you have to get back.

How they kept helicopters (and everything else, including cars and trucks) in working order for thousands of years while they were all frozen is something that I don’t understand. And what about fuel? Even if you could seal it up so it didn’t evaporate, would it still be usable after all that time? Either the writers are ignoring all of that or there’s still something more going on that we don’t know yet.

Maybe the rise of the abbies and the end of civilization happened much sooner and for different reasons than Pilcher is claiming.

And we still have the question about why dead rotting bodies are kept for days in that house instead of being removed immediately.

That’s where I’m still confused. If it was an early expedition before they understood the threat of the Abbies how could Burke’s wife, who says his name, recognize him? She was just revived, presumably, a short time ago.

Ke was Burke’s and Kate’s Supervisor in 2014 - he talked to Ms. Burke and was the one that told her he was in an accident, etc. THey showed him explicitely at the beginning of the episode (in 2014) talking to Pilcher asking to get Ethan back (pre-taking of Ms. Burke and Ben).

He was clearly a ‘volunteer’ at this point and was one of the first ones woke up and sent exploring.

As the credits rolled tonight: “Next week on the series finale…”

No more speculation about how it might continue is needed. Next week is all there is.

Ooookay. I didn’t pay attention to the “previously on…”, which would have been a big help to me.

Thank goodness. The first five episodes setting up the story were decent…the rest sucks. I would have stopped watching if I thought there were more than five more.

I’m hoping for a big reveal that will explain some of the inconsistencies and unanswered questions.

That’s what I’m hoping for. I don’t actually expect it. I expect that most of it is just lazy writing.

Me and my GF feel the same.

The first few episodes were interesting and reminded me of The Prisoner in some respects.

After the big reveal the show jumped the shark in a big way and plot holes galore came through.

Abbies? Really? :smack:

It’s bad enough that I wonder anyone thought to make a show of it.

Unless some justification appears in the finale, that one appears to have been for no other reason than gratuitous gore and creepiness to build interest.

Pilcher! Hopefully someone puts him and the blonde teacher out in the street with the abbies.

I think you could continue this into a series once Pilcher is gone. Your basic post-apocalyptic abbie variation on zombies.

Earlier there was an abbie inside the fence after Burke killed the Sheriff because they opened the gate to get out, then closed it immediately when they saw the body get dragged and heard lots of scary noises. At least that’s how i remember it.

Actually, now that I think about it, it may have been part of the whole “rule by fear” thing. “Don’t ask questions or talk about that past. If you do you’ll be murdered in the street and left to rot!”

Well fuck that.

Questions.

  1. What exactly happened? Who kept the town going?

  2. Is this how the book series ended? If not, how did it end?

The kids, AKA the First Generation, took over and locked all the adults away in the chryo tubes, built a statue to Pilcher and decided to continue with his plan.

As to how the book series ended, no, that’s not the way it ended. The book ends with people deciding they can’t survive the Abbies so they all go into suspension to wait another couple of thousand years to see if the world is better.

Does anyone know who the guy hanging from the lamppost was?
