I’m glad we are all here as a community of Dopers.
We are the same. And we are all different. But mostly, we are all similar. In many ways, like a family.
I am grateful that we are here with each other.
A big inclusive loving Doper hug to all of you — well to those who would welcome it. For those who would not welcome it, I simply smile, make eye contact from a comfortable distance and politely nod my head and say, “Holiday greetings, fellow Doper” to you.
We are not alone. Here at the SDMB, in a way we are all together.
The Happiest of Holidays to us all. As happy as we can make it.
The phrase “From your mouth to God’s ear” comes to mind. So take it in that spirit even though it’s from an atheist.
And yes: we are here together; and yes, that counts. May we all be together even if at long distance with those with whom we wish to be together. And if some of them are gone: then together in memory.
We’re all in a lot of tribes we make, when you think about it. Our work family, our neighbour tribe, our relatives, our specific interests, ski crowds, club tribe, football clan, etc.
Of all the tribes I’m in, this one is definitely the weirdest.
I’m so glad you are all here, posting what you think and wonder about, showing me that I’m not so different. I love that I can toss a pun out here and know somebody will catch it, or say something poorly and have you all shoot holes in it.
We are us and we are all the better for the Straight Dope.
It all will be shiny and bright and not at all purple, say our lawyers, in 2022. Pantone has invented a totally new color that will transform our world.
Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives. Rekindling gratitude for some of the qualities that blue represents complemented by a new perspective that resonates today, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri places the future ahead in a new light.
I couldn’t have said this better myself. Or at all.
Create your own colors, everyone. That’s what a new year is for. And then post them here. What better place?
I invented (ummm, found) a new color.
I call it red mud clay pink.
Get a white sock wet at the pond. It’s permanently stained. Once you wash it, even with bleach it comes from the dryer a lovely pink shade.
I’ve never seen this color on any cloth. Believe me, I’ve looked.
I’m waiting on the big textile Mills to pay me for the use of my ‘new’ color.
Yep the big bucks are coming my way. Any day now, I’ll be rollin’ in the dough.
