It’s interesting the police here still aren’t totally sure it was murder - there was clearly someone else involved in the death (i.e. whoever closed the padlock), but it could be a weird sex game gone wrong, or a drug overdose followed by a panicked attempt to clean things up, so a suicide who asked a friend to help make sure he didn’t leave a horrible mess behind.
It’s not even clear whether he was dead when he got in the bag (I think this is probably though).

Well… latest update is that a female police officer has tested the scenario using a similar sports bag, and it turns out not only is it possible to climb in and zip the bag up, it’s also possible to close a padlock from inside.
So the “weird sex game gone wrong” theory isn’t perhaps so far fetched.
Cmon, guys, British Intelligence, mysterious death. It doesn’t PROVE the death was related to his work, but I’d be working that angle REALLY HARD if there were no other obvious ones. Odds are someone has given the cops the “back off” sign.
