Well, I think I will claim this thread as my official welcome to the site! Between Lupi and shewhoROCKSonwater, I suddenly feel very welcome and somewhat saddened to be taking a brief leave of absence. Rest assured, I will be back and I will be a much more happy snowman, being back in Ohio (Columbus, even! GO BUCKS!).

[fierra], I’ve decided for this post to just go with whatever names the creative juices come up with for DW and struut. It’s a tedious process and sometimes you end up with things like the “rocks on water” in an effort to maintian a theme. I’m sorry. I’m not actually creative, I just pretend I am (btw, I can’t think of anything for your name, or you’d be chortling to yourself right now…I told you I wasn’t creative).
fierra, now that you point it out, I suppose I would be lupine, as opposed to canine. Lupus Dirus it is, though that’s starting to sound more like a disease than a constellation! Dire Wolf I shall remain. Nevertheless, canis dirus is still a creative attempt, snow. Give yerself a little credit! And in the Olympic spirit, I’ll give you a 9.5 for causeforconcern lupinetypecreature.
I can’t come up with anything for fierra, except for maybe something in the fiery motif. I know there used to be a model of Oldsmobile called Fierra, but our auburn beauty can hardly be compared to a piece of machinery.

I know about the troll, but whenever I ask Mark if he could feed the dogs, he always asks what to…even the old thread might have got indigestion if forced to eat troll…
Lucy is feeling fine, eating her dinner, went back to vets for a check up yesterday, & her mouth is healing fine, her heart still sounds clear & she has no sign of infection, but needs to finish the antibiotics anyway. She’s not up to playing with the other dogs yet as they use their paws & might catch her in the mouth!(I have two scratches on my lip today from Val - I bent down to talk to him as he tried to paw upwards for attention…)
Now then, about that grooming, I’ll just start by your ears, with this tangle here…

Speaking of grooming pleasure, do your dogs like to be vacuumed? A lot of dogs are terrified of the horrible monster vacuum cleaner and bark like maniacs, but both my dogs love it! (just the hose with a small attachment, not the motorized beater bar/brush, of course…)
They will both nudge each other out of the way to be vacuumed, I guess it feels good. I had to get Duke used to it (I rescued him from death row at the pound, and he’s a little nervous - someone must have abused him). He loves it now.
fierra, your doggies have floppy ears - ever had any problems with ear infections? My oldest (12 1/2), Grizzly, has had chronic ear infections for most of his life. I have spent probably around $5000 over the last 10 years with 12 different vets, and no one can cure him. I will probably post a thread about this. I have seen some of Michi’s posts, she may have some advice, or other posters. I have tried it all, from 5 different antibiotics, to home remedies, cooking for him, allergy tests, and on and on. Sigh. It always breaks my heart to see him when he hangs his head to the side. He is otherwise happy and healthy, though deaf now, so he’s not suffering, just uncomfortable at times. I have had him since he was 4 weeks old - another rescue from a junkyard (along with many others that I found homes for).
DW: they do occasionally, although usually the tricolour, since his fur is thicker & so his ears get hotter…it usually clears up quite quickly & I usually (not always, sometimes I forget or feel lazy) do weekly ear checks to make sure they’re not starting to look hot or mucky. If they are, I clean them quickly & if it continues put canker powder in or go to the vet (depending on how miserable the dog looks).
