We interrupt your regularly scheduled MMP to bring you this Early TV Mockumentary

Finally home from work. Difficult pt late in the day. He should have been straightforward, but he wasn’t. He also was slightly senile and was quite a handful. Luckily, the floor had a bed right away. I still had to call 10 people and do other things. What the hell, it’s money.

Off to bed–too tired to really read thread.

Ack! No, someone else can do the 19th. I don’t even have a way to get my pictures off my camera till I get home the 22nd! Bad snowbunny for volunteering me in error! (She just stopped by after work to visit, and fortunately mentioned it so I could scroll through the MMP and find it.)

We had a lovely day today, took a trip up to Stanley, which involves going across a pass at 8750 feet. Talk about gorgeous! You all will see photos a week from Monday. NOT next Monday! Next Monday we’re going back up to Stanley, this time with snowbunny, who hasn’t been up there yet because the road just opened for the first time since she’s lived here. Between the altitude and all that fresh air, I am even MORE tired, though. So I’m not even going to skim the rest of the MMP, just assume that all is crazy as always. Talk to you guys later!

Mahna[sup]2[/sup], if I was ever with someone whose anus tasted like thousand island dressing, we’d have to have a serious talk about his Hidden Valley.

Er, donkeybear? Um, just… ewww. shudder

Just got home after a nommy bacon cheeseburger and fries at Old Chicago–we went after attending the Grandkid’s school play, “Attack of the Pom-Pom Zombies.” It’s a tradition–each new class of sixth graders acts in the play which is directed by the eighth graders for a final class project. It’s always the same play but they tweak it a bit–it’s a tradition. Anyway, the kids were hysterically funny and Jr and another actor were the Upstaging Twins From Hell–mugging and drinking the mustard and ketchup bottles, etc. All part of their characters, all improv, screamingly amusing. The kid is an amazing comic actor, no stage fright or nervousness at all and he puts it all across with his rubber face and nuanced voice–he has a very expressive vocal range, comes from being raised by an operatically emotional mom and a crazy, hyperverbal grandma I guess…

The SO captured quite a lot of the action on his cameraphone–sound quality is minimal but I really want to review the footage to see how it comes across–if it’s intelligible I’ll post a link. I really need(read: want!) to get a digicam to get a record of this stuff to embarrass Jr with by showing it to his prom dates. He’s pretty unembarrassable, though, he gets teased so much he just lets it all roll off and then slings it back. I sure wish I had his poise when I was that age!

If I weren’t so stuffed I’d be jonesing for hummus right now–I love that shit. The Lucky Labrador pub does a wicked hummus with lethal amounts of raw garlic smushed up in it that’s to die for. They serve it with cucumbers and sourdough bread and it’s really nom nom. My favorite is either jalapeno or with roasted red pepper on top. With Trader Joe’s naan bread… snarf!

It was soooooo hot today I was just dragging around–couldn’t eat all day until somebody got smart and brought me a chocolate Frosty from Wendy’s. That lowered my core temp enough to allow rational thought and got the old blood sugar into reasonable range. For having been raised in the Sacramento Valley in nonairconditioned houses I’ve certainly become a big old wimp about heat…

So yeah, I’m really baked at the moment… yawn!

Kids!

Just got back from Mohegan Sun. Gambled some, watched an MMA event with a couple of friends, ogled all the damn fine women (chicks dig dressing up for a casino).

Next week I should be back on my normal MMP posting rotation. These past two weeks have been nuts with plans and sickness. But I’m feeling fit as a fiddle now, and I’ve had a night of blackjack and booze.

Alls well.

Grr. Grrrrr. Holiday weekend, and it’s supposed to rain all the time. Sigh. We were going out yard-sae-in today! Maybe the rain will hold off.

Poor little JoeDawg. He suffers.

Good to see you back, bb! Night crew is back on!

Hope you’re feeling better, Mahna. Chinese food helps with colds. Well, Sriracha helps with colds. Actually, with everything. Except ice cream.

Ack. Driving Husband came over last night, nd Nat has officially started to freak out at Strangers. Even Strangers he’s seen every week since he was born. He presented Driving Husband with the Gift of Real Tears. It was so funny (I’m a bad mother). Every time he was facing DH directly, his eyes got red, his chin wrinkled, his lip quivered, he looked appalled and terrified, and he bawled. He looks so cute when he does that.

I’m a bad mother.

Thanks. I think Mr. Lissar is very cute. I’m not totally sold on the beard, but it’s possible he’ll get rid of it for summer. Oh, lord, it just occurred to me that Nat might freak if he shaved.

Up caffeinated, off to work.

:waves at beebs:

Ah, yes, babies and their phases. Faraway Best Friend’s children went through those phases with me (although they see me much less frequently). Worst was when they were between 3 and 5 or so. We finally concluded that they thought I was trying to become their Mommy because I was the only other person they knew who also spoke English with them and German with Dad. They’re still really embarrassed that they ever went through that phase, so there’s that…

And laughing at him is probably the best reaction…If you stress about it, he’ll get more stressed and then it’ll be lather, rinse, repeat.

Hi beebs!

swampy is hereby noted as being Monday’s host with the most…ETA: I’ve even updated my sig, so there! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m going out the door and won’t be back till tomorrow sometime.

Everyone have a lovely Saturday and Sunday!

Hugs.

I kinda sorta almost slept in this morning - yay! I actually woke up around 5 to answer nature’s call, and I couldn’t doze off again, so I turned on the TV (quietly, so as not to disturb my sweetie.) Early morning TV is really crap - mostly bad infomercials, including one that was running simultaneously on 3 channels!!

After about an hour, I got up and took the doggies out, then fed them, and crawled back into bed. **FCD ** kinda, sorta woke up, so I handed him the clicker, and he managed to find an episode of Law and Order at that ungodly hour! And while he was channel surfing, I dozed off and drifted thru a couple of weird dreams, including one where we decided to go out for lunch, all scraggly looking after boat work, and we ended up in a rather snooty restaurant where they wouldn’t let us sit together, because that place specialized in “mingling.” Plus they insulted my footwear. So we decided to leave. And about then, I woke up again - it was about 8:20. So dang, I kinda sorta slept in!

I’m breakfasted and partially caffeinated. **FCD ** is on his way to futz about on the boat. I’m going to move the old computer desk from the green bedroom to the living room and set up the kids’ computer. Along the way, I’ll organize some crap and ready their bedroom and bathroom for tomorrow.

Cleo was just now wandering about unmolested - good for her. Unfortunately, it appears the cat wars is manifesting itself in random peeing. Yesterday, I caught Taz marking Cleo’s bean bag chair, and this morning, **FCD ** thought he found a damp spot in the guest room closet. I do not need pee-wars!!! Idiot felines!

I’m giving myself a little time to read the funnies, the off to labor. With frequent breaks. Because I’m old. And I deserve it, dammit!

Happy Saturday!

doggio - buy a throw away and have it developed onto a CD - we need those kitteh pics!

my world is still pink. I spoke with younger nephew, the computer geek turned law student. He says it sounds like a video card problem, which is not a home fix. So I have to find an Apple store out here 'cause I am NOT lugging this into NYC.

Thing is - If I go to an Apple store, I’ll start drooling over all the pretty new 2008 iMacs and talk about your entrance fees…

anyone got a spare $200K so I can get out of debt? (and have some leftover to fix up the house?)

Gettin’ ready to pack and head out the door to some mountains! (Got hold of Mr. Neveranswersthephone yesterday, finally. I don’t like to drop in completely unannounced after a 6-hour drive).

Don’t tear up the place too badly. See y’all on Tuesday afternoon.

Okay, really need to pack before I light WOWCrack Roommate’s kids on fire.

Good morning everyone! The sun is out, it’s warm, and it actually sort of feel like an early summer morning.

Tonight we’re going out to dinner to celebrate my birthday (which is this coming Monday). I don’t know what’s happening after dinner.

We maaaay go out on the boat today, but it seems like a lot to cram in today because of tonight’s dinner plans.

Hmmm, other than that, I got nothin’. I guess I’ll finish my coffee and clean up. Smooches and hugs to all.

hackcoughsniffle

Wouldn’t you know it, we’re out of cold meds. And it’s drizzling outside.

I think I’ll just spend the day lying around and reading bad chick lit. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

It’s a beautiful day in the neeeeeeeeeeeighborhood ~~

Stupid weatherman, threatening us with rain. Forsooth, thou art foolish, o man of weather.

Whew! Got a lot done here. I brought the old computer desk out and set up the computer for the kids. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find all of my daughter’s stuff - can’t remember which box we crammed the cords into - but I did find her power strip and a mouse, and I had an extra CPU power cord in the basement, as well as a network cable to run from the router to the CPU. I just tested it out, and it all runs peachy-keen. Their printer is set up also, and I was able to bring her desk chair out of the garage and into the living room.

Dunno what I’m going to do with the recliner, tho…

I also found the two big bags of hangers and I put them on the portable clothes rack that I bought last week. They won’t be able to hang all of their stuff, but they can unpack enough to get them by until we finish the apartment. I also installed the two clothes bars in the blue-bedroom closet and took down the extra shelf temporarily. When they move downstairs, I’m getting my closet back for storage.

I need to sort thru some crap in the garage - mostly mine - to get ready for when we move the storage shelves from the basement to the garage. Gonna wait a bit on that, tho. At one point, I was bending over looking at labels on some boxes, and my back suddenly protested violently. I hurt my lower back over 20 years ago, but I just felt the same sproinnnnnggggg that I experienced back then. So I decided I needed a break.

Taz is still being a brat. Earlier this morning, Taz and Scruffy were nose to nose, sniffing, then Taz raised a paw and whapped poor old Scruff upside the head. OK, I laughed, but still… Cleo is getting braver, but she still doesn’t like Taz. I know she’ll be glad when her mommy gets here tomorrow.

Still need to do their bathroom and put on clean sheets. But it’s break time.

Any restaurant that insults footwear is not worth goin’ to. Maybe the dream is an omen about a new restaurant openin’ nearby where footwear snark runs amok. The nerve!

Howdy Y’all! I spent the mornin’ cleanin’ the pool and all the stuff around the pool. I’s tahred! Everything’s all clean and shiny though. Mayhaps we shall go lounge there this afternoon. It’s warmed up a bunch since early this mornin’. Ah, pool season is officially here! YAY!!!

JoeDawg is being made to endure couch time and treats right now. Even when I’m busy I make time to ensure his disciplined routine is not interrupted. If I let up the next thing you know he’ll be spoiled rotten and I just cannot have that.

Ok, it has been declared to be pool time, so I guess that means I need to go put on a bathing suit and put glop all over myself. Well, actually I will put glop all over ol’ y’all know who and he’ll do the same for me. We’re unselfish like that.

Ok, pool time! Even got my shades…

I could use some pool time. Or hot tub time. But instead, I’ll have laundry time and cleaning the bathroom time.

rah.

OK, I am impressed. My kid just called. She got a phone call from a manager at Publix. If you recall my tale of the wedding, Publix goofed up and didn’t have her wedding cake ready in time, although it did arrive and apparently, it was quite good. I don’t know - I didn’t have any.

I went to the Publix website and picked the “Contact Us” link, and sent them an email telling them about the whole fiasco. I stated the facts, including that it was delivered and set up and we were ultimately pleased with it, but that it was a stressor I didn’t need. I made no threats and I didn’t ask for anything from them, mostly because there’s no Publix near where we live. I would have liked a note of apology, but honestly, I’d forgotten about it.

Back to the phone call. The manager was very apologetic while talking to my daughter and commented on how nice my note was in spite of everything, and she kept asking what they could do. The kid said that it didn’t matter because we live so far away, and we did get the cake after all. But, bottom line, they’re sending us a full refund.

Dang!

I suddenly feel like I need to make a donation with part or all of that money. I mean, we did get the cake and it only delayed things about 30 minutes…

Anyway, if you live near a Publix, you should shop there because they’re good folks.

I am out of flour. I am OUT OF FLOUR. How is it that I am out of flour?

I need to bake gingerbread! With cream cheese sauce! Although I think I’ll change up the recipe a little.
Right now I’m cooking black beans for refried bean tacos. And I baked two kinds of bread from frozen dough. I feel very domestic. More domestic than usual.

I’ve taken my shower, started a load of laundry and have started cleaning.

I bribed my son with ten bucks to clean the kitchen top to bottom. This will free up time for me to do other things.

Obviously, we didn’t go out on the boat. There’s too much to do here. Hubby wants to wash the rigs and cut the grass. It is absolutely beautiful outside. I’d rather be outside working in the yard, but the house is a mess. I can’t stand it. I’ve got to clean it.

Okay, back to chores.

Toodles…
