We interrupt your regularly scheduled MMP to bring you this Early TV Mockumentary

Yeesh, how long has it been since I’ve posted to the MMP? Must have been all week!

Still up over my eyeballs in work, and generally not feeling terribly communicative, but getting very slightly better as evidenced by the fact I’m actually posting.

Skimmed very lightly, all I remember is {{{MBG}}} on the knee and {{{Haze}}} for the parental problems.

I did notice you managed plenty of TMI without me around…

We try, we try… I’d been wondering where you were

Nice to see you stop by SO.

Sorry to hear your SO’s story, Smarty. Even though it hurt, it’ll be better in the long run that he checked in with his brother; otherwise he’d be wondering what he’d missed by not contacting him under those circumstances. But still, :frowning: .

Too bad about the blow-out with mom, Haze. Sometimes they can’t help themselves. But, yeah, you’re a grown-up. My mom overdoes it in the “I know what’s best for my children” department. Smiling and nodding has served me well over the years. (Yes, I’ve been grown up for a while; no, she doesn’t quite get that.)

Those breakfast bars sound yummy, Muppet. But, yeah, no need for the sugar.

Hmmmm…hymns and swampy sounds like a promising combination for tomorrow.

Off to get a few groceries. I’ve decided that I’m not doing too much of consequence the rest of the day. Started on that plan by taking a nap. Go me!

Back later.

Recipe time!! I just made a double of this recipe - it’s baking as I write this. Note that you don’t precook the pasta.

Super easy lasagne

Preheat oven to 350F
Mix together:
2 eggs, beaten
16 oz ricotta or cottage cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan
2 tablespoons parsley flakes
layer with:
4 cups spaghetti sauce
3 cups shredded mozzarella
1 pound uncooked lasagne noodles
Layer as follows:
1 cup sauce
noodles
1/3 of the cheese mixture
3/4 cup mozzarella
3 times total, followed by
1 layer noodles
1 cup sauce
3/4 cup mozzarella
3/4 cup water, poured over the whole pan

Cover tightly.
Bake 1 hour or until bubbly
Uncover and let sit 15 minutes.

I make my sauce with ground beef, onions, mushrooms, diced tomatoes and the usual spices. Any sauce will do. I’ve also made a veggie lasagne with meatless sauce, and I mix shredded carrots and chopped spinach in with the cheese. It’s an easily adaptable recipe.

Those bars look good, except for the *%^%&!ing unneccessary quotation marks. Argh.
Huh. There’s a Child Tax Benefit cheque deposited into my account. With the date of May 20th. That’s odd. I think I will refrain from spending the money until the actual date.
Mahna, I’m really, really grateful that my MiL is a) not a great housekeeper, and b) has up to eight cats at any time. I hate doing extra tidying. I think that’s what QD’s real purpose in lif is- to keep my home sort of tidy. Good luck with the inlaws and the dinner party.
Nat’s trying to fit an entire folding chair in his mouth. Good for him.

C’mon Nat! You can get that chair in your mouth. I know you can do it!

I sorta kinda have the MMP put together. I need to go back to it and do a little editin’. I’m thinkin’ I may put it up before I go sleepy bye tonight. It won’t be after midnight here but for some of us it’ll already be Monday so that counts. After all it will be Monday somewhere!

I have a major case of the blahs. Nuttin’ upsettin’ me or anything, I’m just all blah. Maybe a soak in the tub and a glass of wine in a little while will help. It’s usually a pretty good remedy for blah.

ETA: MOOOOOOM I have a remarkably similar lasagna recipe. Imagine that. We should collaborate on a cookbook… “Cookin’ For The Lazy”.

The newlyweds have achieved Virginia! They should be here before 9, so yay!

We ate part of one of the lasagnes - I wish I’d used a little more sauce. Other than that, it was good. I have a chunk packaged for lunch tomorrow, 3 meals’ worth in the freezer, and just under half of one in the fridge for the kids.

Laundry is done. Rain is still falling. Weekend is almost gone. Ah well…

swampy, not all of my meals are lazy. It just happens that the lasagne is super-simple. Of course, I didn’t give the instructions for my sketty sauce, since I have no idea of how much of each ingredient I use. Kinda the way I make soups.

I was only gone for 5 hours while I was at work! How did everyone post so much?!

Lasagna sounds delicious, but I finally have another sushi date. Man I’m kind-of seeing (MIKS?) didn’t want to even though I offered to pay so I’m taking another friend. But he’s paying for his own. So there.

SUSHISUSHISUSHISUSHI

MOOOOOOM that’d be the beauty of the cookbook. I cook a lot like that too. Soups, stews, etc. are just usually what’s on hand or what I feel would be good that day. Imagine us detailin’ how to clean out the fridge and make supper at the same time. There’s all kinds of wondrous recipes we could share like my famous Eyetalian chicken! Take one whole chicken. Plop it down in your crockpot. Pour a bottle of your favorite Eyetalian dressin’ over it. Cook. We’d have our own Food Network show in no time. Think of the fame and fortune that awaits!

In other news, I am less blah now. Tub soakage is soon to follow which will take care of the rest of the blahness. I have read copious amounts of stuff about HfH and feel all kinds of prepared to talk like I have good sense tomorrow. Reckon I’ll actually pull that off? The MMP is ready. I’ll put it up before I go beddy bye so’s the night shift can have sump’n to play with, poor things.

cb I understand about that relationship. I’ve had a few like that and they’re nice. Enjoy. Eat some unagi and think of me, ok? I like unagi. A lot. Or drink a Japanese beer in my honor. I’m good either way.

Bath time!

I’ve been hiding from a migraine all day - so, I didin’t read much
{{{{hugs}}}} for all who need it

and the actual numbers for Abigail Valentine (pics can be found here are 6 lbs 15 oz (so my brother got the pounds wrong on the message he left me) and 19 inches long (is that what I said yesterday?)
My brother just called - back from visiting the newcomer, and said “all her fingers and toes are in the right places” Cousin and I will be going up in August for a visit - there will be more pics then.
I am going to take some more tylenol and go back to bed

Thank you, everyone, for the encouragment. I was talking to Mr Cheerio today - his family is Georgian and they have a suprisingly similar culture, so he’s always much more understanding of my parental problems (as opposed to The Guy or the others, who never quite understand why I care so much about what my parents say) - and he basically told me what SmartAleq said, and encouraged me to stick to my guns. I know my parents are going to give me a huge guilt trip about the whole thing. I’ve decided I’m not going to talk to them about it anymore until I’ve made up my mind, then deliver the news to them with a “This is my decision, and it’s not changing. I hope you can be happy for me.”

Easier said than done. I’m such a mama’s girl. :smack:

I reeeeeeeeeeeally miss The Guy right now. Hopefully I’ll see him tomorrow - he gets back from the Twin Cities tonight.

SmartAleq, that sucks about your in-laws. It always amazes me how kin can be so hateful towards each other. Hugs for you and yours!

Leftovers for dinner tonight, w00t.

BioRosie linky no worky.

SmartiePants I neglected to say this earlier, but SO did the right thing. His brother will either come around or not. Just let SO know that a whole bunch of complete strangers who care say he did the right thing. Ya know that old adage…

You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your [del]friends’s noses[/del] family.

We gotta deal with the family we got dealt.

Tub soak and wineage accomplished. Blahs obliterated. YAY!

Stay tuned for your upcomin’ brand spankin’ new MMP! It shall appear shortly before I deem it to be beddy bye time.

Back from churchification. We had really short readings, apparently to balance out the length of today’s Whiskeypalian lectionary. We use what you read today at the Easter Vigil, swampy. At my church it takes extra long because we sing between the days in the reading. We can draw it out to prolly 15 minutes.

Hope the interview goes really really well tomorrow.

I’m considering what else to do tonight. Nothing much appeals. Might just crawl into beddie bye extra early. At least I’ll have a slightly shortened week. (I’m taking off early on Friday to go see Indiana Jones with one of my friends.) And then a long weekend!!!

GT

They’re almost here!!! <happy dance> Just over 14 hours - they’re young - they can take it.

<more happy dancing>

I wet to Target after work and bought a digital camera. Good thing too, because I got the kitten when I got home. Her name is Thrakazog. Nelly is ecstatic, the cat somewhat less so.

Stick to your guns, Haze.

{{{{Aleq}}}}

Babeeeeee kitteeeeeh!!! Squeeeeee!!!

Ahem.

What a cutie.

So, we went to see Prince Caspian.

I found it meh. I am finding 99.999% of my life meh right now, so I’m not sure if it’s the film or me. Lots of bloodless battles. Lots of stilted dialogue. I’m not sure Lucy can act. Edmund is quite good; Susan seems to be ok, but mumbles a bit. Peter is good. Caspian is ok and the baddie is bad. I had trouble with the centaurs–surely the most awkwardly gaited figures on film, ever. The badger was ok, and the mouse (Reepacheep) was funny. There were some good lines. I kept seeing echoes of LOTR, though.

Meh. Going to bed soon. I’d like to not be in such a funk, but despite several years of therapy, I find I cannot just “change my mood”. And that’s enough pity party for one night.

rigs as long as the badger was good, what more could ya want.

doggio cute kitteh! And this from someone who ain’t a big kitteh person.

MOOOOOOOOOOM yay for the honeymooners/newlyweds arrivin’!

And now… the much anticipated… long awaited… new MMP is heah! Go forth and enjoy.

KITTY!!!

I see Nat is picking up his mother’s habit of stuffing his face with whatever is lying around.

Mini dinner party went well. Everyone was very impressed with the meal and particularly with the ice cream, and the guests were sent on their way with full bellies.

MIL is lovely (in small controlled doses)… she’s just led a very sheltered life is all. She’d probably faint over dead if she realised that she just ate dinner in what once was the neighbourhood crackhouse.

Hope your head feels better soon, rosie. Migraines are Teh Suck.

Thanks, all, for the good wishes–Himself is feeling much better, due to the lovely day we had (which is amply documented with pictures in the new MMP.) He was feeling quite dejected but a big dose of happy family and cute kids cheered us both right up and reminded us that even though some parts of the family can be mean and hateful we really do have a huge bunch of total sweethearts on whom we can rely and who love us. I sincerely doubt that Himself’s brother can say the same. They say living well is the best revenge, and I think I’ve never seen a more perfect illustration of that adage than Himself and Bro.

That idiot totally cut off his nose to spite his face–what a dumbass! :smack:
