We interrupt your regularly scheduled MMP to bring you this Early TV Mockumentary

Yay puppies!

(((Pie)))
Glory be. I think the kid’s asleep. Fifteen minutes of annoyed snorting and crying this time.

Wow…that was a lot of catchin’ up!

New time-saving tip (and additional advice) for QD: listen to all those internet strangers in the MMP. Recently, it was proven that we are not axe murderers. It has now also been proven that we are right about life choices for QD. (Did we not spend MONTHS back there somewhere telling you that you should just say yes?) A fall wedding sounds ideal. Especially if it helps you avoid an overdose of mother-daughter time.

And, seriously: Congratulations to both of you!!! We know you’re great for each other.

Welcome, Rick and pbbth and Beware of Doug and…who’d I miss?

When is Haze due back?

HfH would be interesting, I think, swampy . Although it would be difficult to deal with foreclosures… I’m sure there would be nice duties as well. Right?

Hugs for Pie, of course. Cool OP. Loved the pics, especially the Kuba Komet and the Philco Predicta. I liked to link to the TV museum, too, Sunspace.

Junior Rodeo video made me giggle, Spaz.

I was thinking about all you North Carolina/Virginia-ish Mumpers when they reported on tornados. And about our Missouri/Oklahoma Dopers, too. Seems like it’s natural disaster season. Tornados, cyclones, earthquakes - they’re everywhere!

Two of the hosts of All Things Considered are in China this week and were 60 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake there. It sounds HORRIBLE. Took me straight back to the last big earthquake in Mexico (September 1985). Didn’t hear from my family there for 4 days. Very scary. And it sounds like there was a lot more damage in China.
They played the description that Melissa Block recorded as the quake was happening. (Listen to the story that’s linked under the heading “A Quake’s Arrival.”) Not sure that anyone who’s been through anything like Northridge (or Mexico City) actually wants to listen to that. She was recording an interview at the time and just switched over to describing what was happening; she captured it really accurately, I thought.

Oh…my Mom is obsessive about flashlights too, MamaT; she also keeps her housekeys on her at all times now.

Way more than I actually intended to write about earthquakes…

Guess I’ll move on to whatever I was going to do tonight. I’ll report back later.

Hugs.

PUPPIES!

PUPPIES! I love puppies, except for puppy breath kisses.

swampy, where and when will the pics be available from tomorrow night’s events?

I’m eating dinner from both Arby’s and Sonic, because I wanted a cheeseburger and curly fries, and nowhere in town can I have both. :frowning:

I bought a bed today at the local thrift store for 50 bucks, I just need a frame for it. They’re delivering it on Wednesday. Walmart.com has some cheap bed frames that I’ll probably get. I had considered a futon, but then realized how much I hate sleeping on futons.

I have a sushi date with some people from work on Friday! Yay!

Hooray for puppies, kai!

Well, my evening plummeted further… I opened up some mail and discovered that apparently I had forgotten (amidst the 500,000 other pieces of mail) to make my payment to the Cleveland Clinic last month. So, as a token of their gratitude, they’re turning me over to a collection agency. I pretty much lost it after I read that. As a matter of fact, I got so upset that I actually ended up losing my lunch (N.O.L.). I talked with my parents a little bit and I guess I feel better. At least they felt sorry for me and my mom went shopping with me.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Yay for puppies kai!

donkeybear if you wanna know what goes on, you’ll just have to come hide in the bushes. :stuck_out_tongue: Oh wait, you can’t cause I yanked 'em up.

gt the upside would be giving people keys to their new homes, tellin’ 'em that they qualify and stuff like that there. Of course there’d be a lot of day to day dealing with financing, writing grants (I’m good at that), budgets, staffing and all those fun things.

I believe Haze was comin’ back today from Etlanner.

Off to do other stuff then go sleepify. I’s not sleepy yet though.

One down, four to go.

Yay for Puppies, Kai! Glad to hear that all is doing well too.

And a woo hoo for Swampy and the HfH possibility. I had to laugh at the thought of Emperor Swampy, though, no offense.

I am continuiing to hang in there, although I nearly bit someone’s head off at work today. Heh … and naturally I wanted to a cigarette badly. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll share what happened: I was working on the time cards - the book and time sheets were spread out over one section of my desk, but I was interrupted in that task to put together something else for my supervisor. At which point a co-worker stepped up to my desk and began to ask me about their leave. It was quite obvious that I was in the middle of working on something else. I bit my tongue, looked up what they asked me about, but then I couldn’t stand it any longer–I asked them what — they couldn’t see that I was in the middle of doing something else? Did they think that their question took precedence? Heh. I didn’t apologize either, because this particular person has a habit of interrupting me like that. They gave me wide leeway the rest of the day, btw. LOL I suppose I shall apologize tomorrow.

Oh well, ack, time for the season finale of Medium!!! G’night all!

Those who scoff will be doomed to a lifetime of nasty papercuts and/or wearing shoes that don’t match outfits when I am made Emperor. Fear Me! :stuck_out_tongue:

PUPPIES!

Where’s the pictures hmm? impatient

Today I found my knitting journal. The one I had started intedning to write down important stuff like changes to patterns, stuff about swatches and yarn and my… measurements.

Well I’d tucked it away awhile ago and half of it got taken over by Ravlery but I found it again and was flipping through when I noticed something odd. You see, I measured myself not that long ago because I am working on a raglan top and I needed it to figure what to cast on etc and… well… between last year and this I’ve lost about two inches in my hips and waist and a smidge less on my bust!

Okay, I knew I was losing weight as my clothes fit differently and I’ve been buying smaller sized pants, but it’s kinda cool to confirm the actual numbers.

That earthquake recording wasn’t nearly as loud as Northridge, gt; you could hear people, whereas during Northridge, snowbunny and her brother were both screaming not ten feet from me, and I couldn’t hear a thing except the sound of the earth trying to shake itself to bits. Definitely not fun. At least my family didn’t have to worry; about 1/2 hour after the earthquake, a friend who lived about 20 miles further away from the epicenter got through to us, so I asked her to call my mom. So my mom was awakened by a total stranger at 5:30 a.m. telling her that her daughter and family were fine; she of course had been asleep and hadn’t heard the news yet.

I’m feeling pretty organized as far as packing and getting stuff ready to go. So tomorrow will be devoted to working on the house, getting it in decent shape so we won’t come home to a mess. I’ll also need to call the dog kennel in the morning to find out if they’re accessible yet – the road that runs past them was closed today because of flooding. I’m hoping the water recedes enough for the road to open by midday tomorrow, otherwise I don’t know what I’ll do with the dogs!

There goes the dryer. Whoever invented the dryer buzzer? Should be lashed with a multitude of wet noodles. What an obnoxious sound!

puppiespuppiesPuppiesPuppiesPuppiesPUPPIESPUPPIES!!! AAAAAAGH!!! WHERE R PIX PLZ?

ahem

So, how are the rest of you today?

I’m tired and punchy, can ya tell?

Pie, my dear, excellent OP, great pix, thank you! I am sorry you’re having a less than stellar day, allow me to offer a neck rub/head squash, good for what ails ya.

Welcome n00bz–guess since they followed me home I gets to keep 'em, right?

According to swampy, the only emperor is the emperor of paper cuts then? Cool. But owwie.

Spaz, for DVD envelopes you want Meritline, because they are the tits. I get all my envelopes there, along with printer ink, weird USB items (because I am a compleat geek sucker for ANYTHING USB. Anything. If there were a USB vibrator I would have one in my laptop bag. Don’t even think I’m kidding about this! Well, maybe a little…) and LED flashlights–they have a bazillion of 'em. A lot of their stuff is free shipping, and it actually pays to let them send you a newsletter because they have total giveaway loss leaders at least once a week. I love that place, it’s like Internet KMart!

Turkey burgers for dinner, nom nom nom–with avocado and asiago and seizure dressing, drool slurp! I had a Wendy’s frosty for lunch, it was soooo good. Tastes like childhood…

Good grief! I really, really miss being able to post from work. It takes forever to catch up with you people!

Welcome to our new folks.

The to-do at my sister’s place for Mother’s Days was nice. It’s obvious she spent a lot of time preparing for it and there must have been ten tons of food. Okay, well not ten tons, but there was A LOT. She had BBQ chicken breast, and leg/thigh quarters, American style potato salad, German potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, and two different styles of fruit salad. For dessert, she had angel food cake with strawberries, 'nilla ice cream and whipped cream. I was stuffed. In fact, I still felt stuffed this morning.

Bobbio, you sure do have some interesting weekends.

I’ll have to come back later, hubby wants to play WoW now.

Hugs to all in need and to everybody else just because…

Okay, impatient people! Here is a group shot, they aren’t even completely dry yet. I haven’t done official weights, but I am saying the black girl is about three ounces, and the big boy (second from the bottom) is around four and a half ounces.

Puppies!

Hi. Feel a tad better.

ZOMG!!11one! Puppiez!!!

Welcome Rick and Doug. It is also customary to offer swampy, Vbob and myself beerverages.

{{{{Pie}}}}

{{{{FCM}}}}

swampy, I wouldn’t want to meet Jimmy Carter. What if the killer rabbit came back?

Awww… cute puppies!

Tigs the last dryer I had made that terrible noise. You could hear it all the way upstairs ::shudder::

PUPPIES!!! Too bad you’re not closer, imagine a puppy/kitten playdate!!

swampy - no bushes? Sounds like an invitation to me. Email’s in the profile if you want to buy a plane ticket (I’m a poor college graduate) :stuck_out_tongue:

Puppies! What breed are they? It’s a little hard to tell from the pics.

db What will it be? I’m about to pour a single malt.

I skimmed, sorry. I just got back from Atlanta - well, I got back a few hours ago. The Guy picked me up from the airport (it’s sooooooooo nice to have someone to come meet you!) and stayed for a bit, but had to leave early because of morning classes. Boo.

But it was an absolutely lovely weekend. J (childhood best friend) and I talked ourselves hoarse, and her family was just as wonderful as I remembered them. Her mom (I call her aunt) cooked up a storm and fed us like she was fattening us for Thanksgiving.

Missed you guys! I’ll catch up a bit tomorrow.

Well, we WoWed it up for a bit, and now I’m running spybot on the PC.

I’m being taken out for lunch by my office mates this coming Wednesday because it’s my birthday come Monday, the 19th. My boss will be out of town, so we’re doing it early.

They asked me to pick a place, but I wanted to be sure that everyone would have something to choose from the menu and like it, so I opted for Red Robin. Yeah, it ain’t the poshest of places, but one of my co-workers doesn’t like Mexican (which I love), and I know I can get a salad at Red Robin and not feel too overly guilty.

I’m taking off from work an extra two hours early this coming Friday because it’s supposed to maaaaaybe hit 90 degrees, so we want to take the boat out and play. Yesterday, I don’t think temps got much above the high 40s. I’m so ready for warmth and sun.

I’m sorry to read your day was TeH Suck, Pie. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

I’m taking my daughter Senior Ball dress shopping Wednesday night. You hear that sound? It’s more money slipping out of my fingers…

Hopefully, it’ll be a pleasant experience. The last time we bought a formal dress for her, we had a hell of a time. She’s got curves, so finding a dress was very difficult. We ended up getting a dress from Macy’s (at the time it was still called the Bon Marche) and she received so many compliments on it. It is a stunning dress, and the best part was that no other girl had a dress like it because they had all gone to the local size 0 store. So, many of the girls ended up wearing the same dress. Everyone loved my daughter’s. I hope we have the same luck this time.

I guess I should see if spybot is done so I can go to bed. Nighty-night folks.

Glad to hear your feeling a little bit better, DB. I’d come down there and *comfort you * but I don’t have any money for gas. :frowning:

Taters just reminded me of something funny. I was talking to my best friend yesterday. She was convinced that my birthday was May 20 instead of June 20 “because that’s what she had written in her calendar.” :smack:

Welcome back, Haze, glad to hear that you had a good time.

{{{beebs}}}

Last night as I was laying in bed I was about ready to go through the roof. One of my employees suggested doing a summer/graduation menu and I thought it was a great idea. So I asked her if she would come up with one and price it out for me. And, that she should let me know if she needed any prices. Now, keep in mind that first of all, I was going to pay her for doing this. Second, this is the person who has been a caterer for the last 25 years. Well, as I was laying in bed checking my email I got one from her and there was a list of 25 FREAKING PRICES THAT SHE NEEDED! Ok, I can see one or two things that she couldn’t find on her own, but she didn’t even try. It wouldn’t take me too much more time to price it out myself than it would to look up all that stuff so I’m going to write back to her this morning and explain to her several ways to look up prices.

All that being said, I am feeling better today. I’m wondering, though, if I’m still caught up in this every two weeks PMS and so on. Because this morning there are parts of me that indicate it might be so. I guess it’s a good thing, then, that I have an appointment this thursday with the ob/gyn people. It’s also going to be a bit strange because approximately 2 hours before my appointment I’ll be fixing lunch for them. :dubious: I can think of an extremely crude joke about this, but it’s too early for that. :stuck_out_tongue:
