We need a new show to watch, and apparently we're way too picky

I’m subscribing to this thread because I relate to the OP. My wife and I are looking for a good comedies.

I came here years ago asking a similar question. The Dopers then suggested Modern Family and we loved it!

Looking for another one. We have tried Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but NO. I don’t like laugh tracks to tell me when to laugh.

I’m hoping to find some help here. My wife likes shows that make her laugh. I prefer drama or documentaries or history shows. Yeah I know, boring. Anyway, what can you recommend we try watching? I’m talking current, regular TV shows and not something on Netflix or other downloads. We don’t have HBO or Showtime. We have a fairly basic DirecTV package.
