For those who asked, here are my wedding clothes (sangeet lehenga, pink reception saree and red wedding saree) hot off my parents’ smartphones in Mumbai as of 1 day ago. My parents landed at 12 am and coolly purchased my, my fiance’s and my sister’s wedding clothes in one 3 hour endorphin fueled shopping spree by 11 am.
Those are gorgeous!! The first one especially, the dark red on ivory is stunning. And that model has a great sense of humor and sales, frankly - what must be done simply must be done!
And thanks to the links at the bottom of the page I’m pretty sure the rest of my day’s productivity is shot.
Thanks guys! I had a moment of shock when I saw them pop up in my email this morning and it hit me that I’m getting married in a few months…in these clothes. Which apparently have been given a good breaking in by some dude in Bombay!
Overall I’d say my parents hit it out of the park for both my and my sister’s weddings. I never thought that neither one of us would get that dress shopping experience, but c’est la vie. What matters more is that I met someone amazing, of course, the lovely outfits are just gravy.
Oh yes, I think red and gold combos are so stunning. I wonder what would happen if a Western bride wore a Western style dress that was bright red? You probably can’t even get them.
I think those saris looked stunning. I am so envious.
I know a seamstress who does nothing but “ceremony dresses” (mainly bridals and first communions). She’d probably be willing to make a colorful dress: I know she’s done some with a bit of color (slashed sleeves with the undercloth in blue satin, a navy-blue corset). My aunt got married in red the second time, but it was a power suit rather than a bridal.
Now all I need me is a groom… mwahahaha!
And those are gorgeous, but I’m reasonably sure the groom prefers you to the model (nice 'stache on him, though).
Congratulations! You are so lucky to be having an Indian wedding - the outfits are absolutely amazing. To me traditional Indian women’s clothing is the epitome of beauty. A friend of mine who lives here in California is from way up in the north of India, and she’s marrying a guy from Chennai . . . in Chennai. Her inlaws are shopping for all the stuff and sending pictures every day. So far she hasn’t had any pics of male shop owners doing the modeling though!
I wore a red and gold salwar kameez last year for Diwali and I swear that was the best I’ve EVER looked.
Thank you all! And Zsofia, congrats and good luck with the upcoming nuptials.
I’ll try to post pics from the wedding when I am back, of me wearing the outfits rather than some dude. Of course, I’m going to be in m-f-ing BHUTAN for my honeymoon so will probably not show face until well after the wedding.
