Web site to check status of payment and enter bank account information is up.

So those of you getting Social Security, Railroad Retirement Board, Supplemental Security Income or Veterans Administration payment will get a “Payment Status Not Available”

SSI recipients should receive their checks automatically by early May.

Apparently, that has been the default message when the system is too overloaded to give you a correct response, per CNBC.

Got the same message.

I’m wondering if this also applies to people getting Federal pensions. I’m on CSRS and got “Payment Status Not Available”. I did file tax returns for 2018 and 2019, but did not get a refund, so the IRS does not have direct deposit info for me. My pension is directly deposited, however.

I received this same message for both my spouse and I (filed jointly). Both of my kids have received theirs though. Our 2019 fed refund posted yesterday so I expected the stimulus would be right behind it, but no such luck. I’m not really worried. We’re in a decent financial situation for the time being. But then I saw this news and I don’t know if maybe I should be concerned. What a shitshow.

Also got “payment status unavailable”, eligible joint filers with 2 kids ( 3 but the one born last month doesn’t count yet), and nothing unusual about our previous filings or history. Pretty angry that after all
the reports of people getting this message, the gvt responds by posting an updated explanation which lists a few edge case scenarios they say would cause that message, but no acknowledgment that normal eligible people might also be getting get that message, giving the seemingly large amount of people in that category even more reason to stress about it.

This is my situation, and they didn’t have my bank account on file, so I had to enter it.

Has anyone received the Payment Status Not Available message but also then been given the ability to enter banking info? The instructions say that the same Get My Payment link allows you to enter banking info.

If that option to move forward was available then I’d guess that the IRS was all set with your payment but didn’t know where to send it.

Yeah, also not able to determine my eligibility at this time. Good to know (I guess??) that it probably just means there’s too much traffic.

I also received that same message - married filed jointly.
I haven’t filed for 2019 yet, but I did file for 2018, but owed them money. Because of that I assume they don’t have my direct deposit information on file.
But if I go the ‘non filers’ page so that I can enter my bank info, it specifically states that you shouldn’t be here if you you did file one of the those years.
I can’t find an explanation for my case - filed, but no deposit info given. I guess you’re just stuck with the paper check mailed later? (which is fine as long as I’m assured of getting one)

Trying again right now and getting the current message:

"Please Wait
Due to high demand, you may have to wait longer than usual to access this site. We appreciate your patience.

What to expect: Please wait here. This page will refresh automatically to let you in.
If you’d like to try again later, you may exit or read our Frequently Asked Questions."

And after hanging for several minutes, I got the following message:

"Please Try Again Later
We are unable to provide you with the status of your payment or perform the action requested because:
The tax return information you entered does not match our records; or
You have already accessed the system the maximum number of times today.
Please come back after 24 hours and try again.

If you need additional help, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page."

So basically, don’t call us, we’ll call you.

I tried to enter my bank account information, but they said that it did not match. I had my copy of my 2018 return in front of me, so WHAT they think didn’t match is beyond me. I suspect it’s the post code—since I have a six-digit post code with letters, they probably have it encoded in a way that I cannot decrypt.

This is our exact scenario, didn’t file yet for 2019, owed and paid for 2018, and had the same conclusion about not doing the option for provide bank account info because their limited requirements for that did not apply to us

For anyone how religions but receiving the status not available message, could you post here if it ever changes? I haven’t heard any reports of anyone yet who have had that message change for them, will be good to know if there’s anyone out there who has this message that gets a positive resolution

I get social security checks deposited directly. So, they know who I am, fer sure. My banks is listed as getting the money yesterday. But nope. Specifically says if you get SS and don’t file because you don’t have to, they got you covered.

Anybody else? Getting a bit nervous.

Please, if you have an obligation to file a 2019 return or there is any chance that you will file a 2019 tax return, DO NOT USE THE NON-FILERS PORTAL.

What the non-filers portal does is creates a 2019 tax return (Form 1040) for you reporting that you received $1 in “Taxable Interest” income on line 2b and then e-files that just like a regular tax return. The reason it does that is because the IRS e-filing system has several defensive checks in it, one of them being that it won’t accept a $0 return, so it makes up a phony $1 in income to get around that check.

When you hit “submit” you’ve now filed a real tax return for 2019 saying you made $1 in income. Nobody gives a fork about the $1 if you really didn’t have any income, but if you did have income, you’ve just filed a false tax return. If later on you try to e-file a tax return for 2019, it will tell you that you’ve already filed. If you have real income to report, you’ll have to mail in an amended return (Form 1040X) instead of a normal return.

If you want to file a tax return for free and your income was under $69,000 go here:

I get direct deposit SS. So, they know me. My bank got theirs yesterday, according to that list. The website specifically says I should not bother them, they got it, do NOT file anything.

All maze, no cheese. Getting a bit worried. They still pissed about all those anti-war demonstrations?

I’m not getting one, even though I’m a so called “essential employee” and yes I’m still working thorough all this right now. I grossed over 100K last year and that is the cutoff. So I’m out here risking my self and all I get is a big f-u. I’m a blue collar working class man, still out here everyday traveling and staying in shitty hotels while working. Yes I grossed over 100K, but my net pay is like 40K less than that, I’m not rich.

Fuck this fucking bullshit country. I know I’ll be banned from this board eventually because I’ve been venting too much on everything but I’m just so frustrated.

My company took, and is still taking the Trump republican line. They did absolutely nothing at first, and are still doing the bare minimum now. They still have their strict employee availability policy in full effect. The fact that I’m not even going to get a part of the emergency bill is just over the top for me.
