"Weeds" - some background please!

We recently added Showtime. I’ve seen 5 or 6 random episodes of Weeds. While I’m a great admirer of Mary-Louise Parker’s ass  I doubt I’m ever going to become a real fan of the show. Too confusing to follow all the various threads that are running simultaneously.

Caught an episode last week where 2 guys dressed in what appear to be camo uniforms are goofing around in a desert setting and suddenly one of them is hit by an enormous dart traveling faster than the eye can follow.

What was that all about? Never saw the characters before or anything that seems to even remotely link it to MLP’s butt!

Can anyone give me the background on this? If this is the current season - as opposed to a rerun - spoiler it.

Thanks!

One of those guys - the one spared from the dart - is Mary Louise Parker’s brother in law on the show. He had been trying to draft dodge in a number of ways - rabbinical school, losing toes to a dog, but they didn’t work.

If you need a whole synospsis of the show - you’re better off renting the previous 2 seasons - soooo much has happened. It’s one of my favorite shows, and I think it’s worth a chance.

Does he know… there isn’t a draft?

I don’t remember the exact way it went down, so I may have explained that a bit wrong - but the Army got him somehow. Maybe he signed up a long time ago (he’s older, not 18-22 or anything like that, at least 30+) and dodged his service or something then they found him, I don’t remember. So sorry for confusion.

Andy, MLP’s brother-in-law, signed on for National Guard duty before the Iraq conflict began. His unit finally got called up for service (must be THE last one to do so.)

I love this show. We rented season 1 a month ago, and finished Season 2 earlier this week. But we don’t have ShoTime. Anybody got a lead on the first couple of episodes we missed this season, like maybe taped/DVD copies I could borrow to catch up?

He signed up for the National Guard to either, sleep with a girl, get drugs, get out of legal trouble-- I don’t remember which. Then his National Guard unit got called to Iraq. It’s not like he ever did any duty with the NG.

This show is a must-see for us. We just switched cable providers and are paying extra for the movie channel package just to get Showtime. I think it includes about 15 Showtime channels, 10-15 Encores, Sundance, Independant Film Channel, etc, just so we can watch this one stinkin’ show which we love. And Californication. Will probably drop it when the season ends.

Biggirl you’re right. It was to avoid going to jail.

Years ago, in Colorado, he was trying to impress a girl, and there was Jaegermeister, so he signed up for the army reserves.

He went to Alaska to be “off the grid” Andy, but was put back on when he was busted for posession.

Then he went to Rabinnical school, but quit after he lost two toes at the growhouse. He then went to the army, but found out that not having a couple toes no longer exempts him from service, and was forced in to the army. Where he met his “Battle Buddy” Rodiguez, who was the one killed by that drone.

Sean Factotum All the episodes are available online. I won’t post the link, but if you want it, PM or email me.

Is there a story behind the drone or was it just a bad day in Bedrock for Rodiguez? It just seemed so unrelated to everything else.

Him and Rodriguez were the worst team on the base… Or something like that. Andy’s anti-military stance is quite well known, and seems to be a bit of a troublemaker, and is exceedingly lazy.

They were going to “strap that cellphone to a mule” until they showed up.
