Heading out to the Davis Beer Shoppe in about half an hour to grab a few pints before the wife and I go see Civil War. Founder’s finally made it to California a few months back and they’ve got Devil Dancer and Mango Magnifico on tap.
Weird that there’s another Chronic out there. Lagunitas had a copper ale they called Kronik, but apparently couldn’t get label approval so that became their “Censored”.
I’m drinking a homebrew, but not sure exactly what it is. Some sort of Northwest-style Pale Ale, hopped heavy with Cascade. That’s pretty much all I brew.
I’ll have a couple Budweisers when I take the dogs out for their daily constitutional. Just about RIGHT NOW! They’re letting me know its “Dog O’clock”.
I had just cracked a Lakewood Brewing All Call ( a kolsch ) when I sat down to peruse the Dope. I’ve got their Rock Ryder ( an “American rye wheat” ) in the fridge, as well.
I’d intended to go to Four Corners’ brewery tour this afternoon and enjoy some El Superbee from a tap, but I had to clear up fraudulent charges to my ATM card, which made me late.
But! We’ll be going next Saturday, instead. So, I can have some tasty saison then.
Just picked up a dozen Early’s Hoppy Wheat. I’ve only had one, and it’s a drizzly day, but so far I think it’s a perfect late-spring beer. Reminds me a lot of Widmer’s Hefeweizen.
Just got back from a couple weeks in England where I enjoyed Sam Smiths India Ale, Okell’s IPA, Nicholson’s Pale Ale,Liverpool Craft Beer American Red, Galaxy Equinox IPA, Goddard’s Fuggle Red Ale, and many others.
Now that I’m back in Chicago and Memorial Day approaches, I’m eager to try the summer beer offerings before the inevitable pumpkin creep sets in!
Nothing today (yet) but starting about four pm yesterday I had a Naughty Nurse from City Steam, Hartford CT. Then a Route of All Evil (black ale) and an Ol’ Factory (dry hopped pils) both from Two Roads brewing in Stratford CT.
I’m in Chicago for a few days, so I sprung for an Illinois brew from Two Brothers: their French Amber Ale.
A little on the sweet side, so my next purchase was the new(ish) Pilsener from Great Lakes Brewing of Cleveland, called “Turntable” for some reason. That was pretty good.
I’ll need more tomorrow. I’ll be in the Whole Foods on Canal & Taylor, and there’s also a huge liquor wholesaler around the corner. Any recommendations for a good Chicago area dinnertime beer?
Ooooh! I found a Real Ale Brewing Company Grand Cru that I was holding in the back of the liquor cabinet, so I moved it to the fridge last night. It’s bottled with yeast, so I was giving it some time to work through the sugars.
Just opened it, and the original heavy sweetness and hoppyness have both mellowed out. It’s become pretty close to Chimay’s offering by the same name. Mmmmmmmmm.
Just did some chores around the house, so to reward myself I grabbed one of the wife’s beers, the Blood Orange Wit from Refuge Brewing. Just right for a warm Spring day.
