Ice cream sundae and salty fries. Usually, I alternate between the two so the sweet and salt cancel. Occasionally, I dip the fries in the sundae directly. All of this requires a big glass of ice water.
Wait, what? Vinegar and fries is not that unusual. Go to any Long John Silver or Irish/Scottish/English pub. Now, what did freak me out in Canada was when they asked me if I wanted gravy for my fries.
Me? I like peanut butter and hot peppers. Or peanut butter and cold cuts of any kind. Or peanut butter and pickles. Etc.
I don’t know if this is weird, but my husband thinks it’s bizarre.
Take cherry yogurt (the blended kind, not the fruit on the bottom kind). Put into bowl. Add diced Granny Smith apples and shredded or diced (very small pieces are best) sharp cheddar cheese (you can use nonfat cheese even for this one). Stir. Eat with a spoon.
I love salty and sweet together.
Another favorite is putting a dash of maple syrup in a ham and cheese omelet, or using a bit of maple sausage in cream of broccoli soup.
Pizza and scrambled eggs. I reheat a couple of slices on my pizza stone while I’m scrambling the eggs, then dump the eggs right on top of the slice and it’s definitely part of a well balanced breakfast. Yum.
Sometimes I crave weird foods randomly, and I don’t even always like them when I try them. A few months back, completely out of the blue, I got an INTENSE craving for peanut butter on a hamburger - something I’ve never heard of. I made it and it wasn’t really all that good.
Two days ago I got a craving for salami and cream cheese on a bagel - something else I’ve never heard of - but that was great.
