So it’s called “Crimson Room”, requires flash, and it’s basically a Myst sorta game. Took me about an hour and a single, very obscure hint from a friend (I’m weak, I know, but the game was killing my brain). I just wanted to spread the pain :D.
Ah… I got it too finally. Probably around 30 minutes. My favorite parts are the bad translations. “There is no strange thing.” “The key does not suit.” Ha ha ha.
So much of it, though, was just clicking until you find the right spot. That’s not very innovative, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I did get chills when that shadow pointed to the spot on the wall. Like some something out of a ghost movie. Heh.
On the web? Not necessarily…, but games similar to it are Myst, The 7th Guest, and Phantasmagoria as well I think. They’re fun, but they just get too frustrating for me. I like logic puzzles, crosswords and the like just piss me off a lot of the time :p.
Finding the battery took the longest for me. And I was basically doing the right thing to find it. Click everywhere conceivable, and stumble across it on the 1000th click.
There’s nothing exactly like this that I know of, but I have samorost and Chasm handy, so I’ll mention those.
For free? I did I quick search and found Motas, which might keep you busy for a while. There’s also The Stone, which is not free (though there are some free puzzles if you’re interested) and involves massive web searches for information instead of clickfests. I got into it way back when it was a flat fee (and there still were actual Stones) so I don’t feel bad about never finishing those.
That was entertaining way to spend a half hour, but I can’t help feeling that the purpose of the final item could’ve been replaced with a good, swift kick right from the start.
I’ve got the box, put the two rings on it, have three keys, a tape and a power cord. Last time I got this far I got a battery too but this time round I can’t find it.
What the hell do I do know and is it worth it?
