Welcome back, Dr. House: 4/28

I thought the episode was… confusing.

Cutthroat Bitch works at the hospital now? I somehow forgot that.

Cutthroat Bitch (aka Amber Volakis) does not work there, but she agreed to penalties for breach of contract in the shared custody arrangement. Since Cuddy was the arbitrator, she decided a fitting “cutting a finger” penalty was making them change bedsheets.

The solution at the end had something to do with a dormant parasite the nice guy picked up ten years ago in Costa Rica doing Habitat for Humanity. Did they say the parasite caused the positive syphilis test?

As for the good doctor House, I have a theory that House *does *have syphilis. It makes more sense that he was blindsided by the blood test and figured out the best method of damage control is to purposely feed Wilson some misinformation knowing he would share it with Amber. If Amber tells the team, they would not suspect it was a lie.

Far fetched, manipulative, and conniving? Wherever would I get that idea?

My favorite line of the night came, unexpectedly, from Cameron: “I don’t sleep with everybody who’s better than Hitler!”

PLUS, then CTB tells Taub, Thirteen, Foreman and Kutner, who* then * go and tell Cameron and Chase! This place is a HIPAA lawsuit waiting to happen! Not that House would sue them for that, because he does the same thing himself, but it happens to everybody every week.

Not a good episode. I usually love Wilson, but that was a little too much spinelessness for me. And why would House go along with that sort of “punishment”? Cuddy can’t even get him to work in the clinic.

The POTW looked and sounded a lot like John Goodman.

My family is new to House this season, so over the hiatus we watched the previous 3 seasons. Perhaps it is the recency of those shows that caused last night’s to be such a letdown for me.

Sure don’t see the dynamics of the new 3 to be anywhere near the old. And House just seemed to be mugging for the camera a bit. Thought the CTB/Wilson/House bit way too farfetched - hope it does not go on for long. Anyone know how many eps CTB is signed up for?

And I can’t figure out exactly what the heck Foreman’s role is supposed to be - not to mention Cameron and Chase.

But for me the whole show was saved by that near-ending bit - the almost mumbling aside “I wonder what else I don’t like?”, followed by a muted look of terror by his wife. Awesome!

That was the only part of the show I enjoyed. I stopped watching awhile ago, and was determined to give the show another try, but I don’t know - I just may stick with Intervention on A&E - I’m not liking these new characters and such. Then again, I’m pretty adverse to change anyway, so I’m sure it’s just me. I just don’t like it much anymore.

Dammit! I didn’t realize it was on. I will try to watch it on the website later.

Thank god it’s back… I could use a House fix.

I did not diagnose the patient but I had an idea that whatever he had related to his brief mention of being in the Peace Corp but they threw me off with the false positive syphyllis. It seemed odd that they would get the diagnosis that early in the show but I figured he’d have something else on top of the syphyllis.

It was also odd that House did not get the diagnosis. See what happens when House is nice?

I don’t think House really has syphyllis because doesn’t it eventually destroy your brain? I can’t see him just ignoring something like that. He doesn’t care about his personality, he cares about his thinking ability.

House might be quietly treating his syphilis and still want the others to think he doesn’t have it.

So, what’s the deal with Thirteen? Is she bisexual, or are the others just giving her a hard time? I must admit, it makes her character a lot more interesting.

Syphilis can (and does) lie dormant for years until it reawakens. There was a woman on the show who had (IMS) stage 4 (3?) syphilis which affected her brain–her sexual inhibitions were basically gone and she had the hots for Ashton Kucher.

If House does have syphilis (didn’t that result come up in an earlier show–the one where he is trying to get into that Boston study to get a thing implanted in his brain and they all think he is dying?), he is also aware that it can be treated.
13 is bisexual–I think that one pt diagnosed her (or it came out with that pt)–the one who reflected everyone’s personality. I find her boring, no matter how she’s bent. I find most of them boring. I miss the old House.

He was pretending to have brain cancer so he could score drugs.

That was one of many cases that House has ripped off from Dr. Oliver Sacks’ The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.

Demi Moore has the clap? Who knew.

CTB is smoking hot. I loved:

“It’s my fault, I had to took a shower”
“That was my fault”

And:

“If he’s not in bed til midnight we won’t be asleep til 2:00”

[paraphrasing]
“31?”
“Yeah, you like it both ways, right?”
Nice line by House.

That is THE fatal flaw in House and in shows like it, where there’s a repeating formula every episode. In this case, it’s (1) see patient’s symptom, (2) start diagnosing patient, (3) make false or incomplete diagnosis, (4) rinse and repeat 3 as necessary, (5) make correct diagnosis at end of show.

I thought so, too. I kept waiting for Roseanne to show up and break the guy’s wife in half like a matchstick.

I thought House was on Tuesdays. Has the schedule changed?
AFAIC, they can continue to rip off of Oliver Sacks–his books contain some of the most interesting neurology I’ve ever seen.

And I hate CTB. She is not hot, but then I’m female…
