Well, The Bad Astronomer, if you’re ever gonna be in NYC let us know and we’ll have a gathering for you.
The rest of you who who might not be there (except Ringo, he’s excused cause he flew up here a couple of months ago), you gotta come up with better excuses that that.
I’m in! I could really use this right now. Obligations and stresses abound in my life right now. Drinking and intelligent conversation with Dopers seems like a great way to kick back for the evening. I haven’t made it to MPSIMS for a while, and I came in today hoping someone was planning a get together around here soon. Bildo, as usual, is on top of the game (do we get another speech?). I’ve long been a fan of Sue Duhnym’s posts and her username too! Also, I am, of course, a huge fan of the local NYC Dopers.
Rest assured. I’ll bring my nuts with me, even though another one cracked and broke off. I may have to retire them soon but for now there are still plenty left for rubbing . . .
Ouch! If one of my nuts cracked and broke off the last thing I would want is anyone to start rubbing the remains.
In fact, all that rubbing might have been what caused the nut to crack and fall off in the first place
I’m a tentative “yes” for dinner. A lot of those attending I didn’t have much of a chance to chat with in January, so this could give me another chance.
I’ll have a definite answer, Billdo, by tomorrow (Thursday) night. It’s dependent upon my energy level (I’m exhausted this week.) & the possible occurence of a freak weather pattern. I’ll post here, e-mail you, or both.
Aaarrrgh!!! I’m glad I checked this first. My wife won’t be around this weekend, so I was going to e-mail Daveguy to see if he was going to be coming my way and give me a lift.
Actually, I’m not sure if it is the right way, but I thought it was worth a try.
The only other way I could get there would be to use public transit and I just can’t affort to pay that much from here right now.
If you have a window and have looked out it today, you’ll know that we got quite a bit of snow today. Truthfully, I’m not even sure if it’s finished - I see snow whirling about, but I dunno whether it’s coming out of the sky or just being blown off of rooftops & the like.
My point being, I would very much like to come meet Sue & once again hang out with the Dopers whom I met at the NYC Fest (or before), but I think it’d be a wiser idea for me to stay home this go-round. Sue, I’m sure we’ll meet up eventually.
Just for your information, there’s almost no snow sticking in the City, and I know that 72nd street and its sidewalks will be clear by tomorrow evening. So, the City end shouldn’t be a problem, but I have no idea what the conditions will be on the island.
If tomorrow afternoon you decide you want to come and the weather works for you, just come on out. If not, we’ll see you next time.
It’s not so much the sidewalks, but the curb cuts that concern me. And, of course, what goes on out here. But yeah, if it looks okay out here tomorrow after I get out of class (1 PM), I may reconsider. If I do, I’ll leave a message here.
Well, I was out at 5PM and it was pretty slushy and crappy so I absolutely understand Cosmopolitan. I’ll look forward to meeting you sometime when there weather is better as I wouldn’t come into the city either.
I was out on the block that Home is on (the south side of 72nd between Broadway/Amsterdam & Columbus). The curb cuts are pretty clear, particularly the one on 72nd & Amsterdam in front of Gray’s Papaya, the nearest one to Home. I imagine it will be better tomorrow.
