When I moved out, my mother sold the house, moved out of state, (having remarried my father) and lost most of my childhood stuff (and my sibs’ stuff, too).
I will be glad when my kids move out, but sad as well. I revel in Daughter finding herself in college, but sometimes I just miss my little girl. Parenthood is complicated!
(and with that stunning grasp of the obvious, I shall retire).
TH is watching The Da Vinci Code on TV. I believe that is valid grounds for divorce in most states.
I know it’s hard to see your daughter move out, Taters. At least it’s much easier to stay in touch than it used to be, what with facebook and e-mail and texting and cell phones.
ETA: I didn’t move out. My mom did. Seriously.
Finished a scarf and have started the matching headband. Need to sew some more buttons on my coat. Very exciting.
Am watching Season 1 of Castle while knitting and uploading pictures.
I just knitted my way thru Down Periscope. That movie is so stupid, but I love it. Plus I got a lot of knitting done.
It’s under 20°F out there right now - mid-teens forecast for tonight. swell. I took some ibuprofen after we shoveled, and I don’t hurt too much. My bed is warming up (I love my electric mattress pad) and I will soon crawl under the covers. All of a sudden, I’m tired.
Should I watch Harry Potter 2, 3, or 4? Or should I watch a ST movie? Or a completely different movie? Or just channel surf? I don’t want to read right now–I want to be entertained by bright moving objects and humor or a good story.
Gah.
And the more I wishy-wash around, the later it gets… Like sand through an hour glass, my night off is disappearing right before my eyes.
One good thing about snow, FCM, it’s insulating. No, really. I know you hate it, but it’s a good thing when you have temps that match mine. Since we finally got some I was able to turn my heat down. All we need now is some more. I think I’m going to have to break out a snow dance.
This is just totally f’ed up, all the snow is back east? WTF, Gaia? WTF???
Why do people keep moving the finish line in the rat race? DH has been working as a temp at a place that he seems to like, and it’s a temp-to-hire position. To be hired, he has to submit an application at the corporate HR site. He’s done this, and this morning, gets an email that his application is rejected. No word as to why.
Naturally, this comes the day after I’ve spent a large amount of money on a new TV.
No snow in our immediate forecast. I took advantage of the non-raining day to break down a mountain of boxes in the garage and take them to the recycling place. Down where SIL lives, they have The Green Box, and IIRC, someone here has the “convenience center.” For us, the closest we get to a cute name would be the West Meck Recycling Center. The place was busy - everyone’s had to wait a couple of weeks due to the bad weather.
Now slip, slip slip and slide…Ice creamy ice creamy cakes! That stupid Baskin Robbins ad has been playing at every commercial break. ARGH!
Is there a way to find out the why? Can he ask someone to follow up or intervene? Even if he doesn’t wind up getting the job, it could tell him something that would be useful for the next time.
Oh, I know, those get installed later. I was looking for the Giggles one and the OhWow one, mostly…
Attention please! Public service warning! Please remember to clean the lint off the dryers before and after each load! Thanks!
Seriously, I just moved my clothes from the washer to the dryer and there was so much lint on the filter it came off in a single piece. Eeek![sup]10[/sup]
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on a chilly but lookin’ to be a nice Sunday mornin’.
Today is brunch Sunday at church. This means good eats! I made a bunch of pimento cheese sammiches ‘cause I had a bunch of cheese and a big jar of pimento peppers. Ya know though, what with all the gratin’ of cheese, choppin’ of peppers, mixin’ and sammich makin’ (that included cuttin’ said sammiches in half all delicate like) I think it would have been easier to make a casserole. I swear it was a lot more work. However, I make good homemade pimento cheese so my co-parishoners are in for a treat. Plus I made a gallon of tea. I always do that. I’m nice dammit!
Nava cleanin’ the lint trap is an absolute must after every dryer load. I am surprised at the numbers of people who just don’t.
rigs what did ya end up watchin’?
Sends snowy thoughts to snowbunny.
Oh and this afternoon, I need to defilthyfy da cave. It kinda needs it.
Well, the bad news is the damned Driveway Shoveling Fairy didn’t come during the night, that bitch!!!
The good news is the sky is blue and it’s supposed to be sunny all day. So while we’re out there shoveling, we’ll be blinded by the reflected light. yay.
gt, I woke up around 4-something but I dozed on and off till Scruffy demanded to go out. **FCD **snuggled close and he’s a source of much body heat, whereas I get cold just looking at pictures of winter. So I absorbed some of his heat and enjoyed a drowsy cuddle.
Of course, all that warmth is gone, since I had to let the dogs out. Although, due to the depth of the snow, they were decidedly confined to the tiny area I’d cleared for them. And speaking of clearing snow, while I was drowsing this morning, I got to thinking that it’s been a while since we got a delivery of heating oil and it’d probably be a good idea to make a path to the tank, then dig out the fill pipes… yet another chore.
All purtified for churchification. Plus I made scrambled aigs, sausage and toast for brekkie cause I was hongry and the smell of stuff cookin’ caused the emergence of OYKW from the bedroom.
Just talked to my mom - she was without power for about 24 hours, but it came back on in the wee hours of the morning, so she’s relieved.
Guess it’s time to start shoveling. ugh. I tried calling someone to plow, but as might be expected, the plows are pretty well booked up. So we’ll do what we can and hope our neighbor comes by.
Have I mentioned that I hate snow? Or that we’re supposed to get more on Tuesday??
So sorry about the huge snowfall. Good luck digging out.
Should put on a load of laundry before heading off to church. Mr. Lissar isn’t feeling great, so I’m leaving him a Relaxing Toddler to play with for an hour while I vanish.
