Well, it's .. sorry, what year is it? MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven-fifteen this mornin’. :sleeping_bed: 'Tis 35 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and N.O.S. for the day. The poke shoulder is in the slow cooker/oven thingy to do it’s thang. I shall also make the cake and a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea for tomorrow. Any need to feed today will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips, etc. Or it could be pizza. One never knows with us! Sloth and general overall uselessness shall be accomplished, as well.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I had 2 numbers… on two different tickets. Oh well…

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with no predicted change today, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “If every day is a little gift, today you basically get some fucking shitty re-gift. Hooray.” It’s not that bad out there, it was grey and raining when I left the house at 8am, came back at 11am and it’s bright and shiny instead. The intervening hours were spent in the gym wearing myself out so I can have guilt-free Chinese for lunch.

Shadow, our grumpy old man, is of an indeterminate age. He is also skinny, prone to over-grooming and looks very much like an elderly gent. He’s still fairly mobile, doesn’t go outside much but doesn’t have much trouble getting round the house. Occasionally he needs a bit of help getting on to a lap, but he does have a very charmed life. We have had him for over a decade, he was an adult stray when we got him - the vet estimated his age at around the same as Ophelia, she was 18.5yrs old when she left us last month, I am guessing he is probably a bit older than she was. To be honest, I always thought he would be the first to go but he’s hanging on. He gets all sorts of fancy food and lots of treats, plus bits of human food when he wants them so he is not doing so badly.

So this morning I’ve done the gym thing (360 HIIT, spin and then a dumbbell circuit class), home to get tidied up and drink lots of tea, and we’re shortly going to head out to town for errands and lunch at the Good Chinese Place. Nothing else in my plan for today, it’s ‘im indoors’ turn to cook tonight so I foresee an amount of slothage in my future.

Moooom glad to hear FCD and the hospice folks are in charge of meds, MIL has enough to deal with for herself. I hope his passing is quick and peaceful.

doggio if you’re flinging margaritas around with reckless abandon, hurl one my way please!

rocking_chair I had automated feeders for our two older cats, they worked pretty well although they both seemed to think they should get other food in between. We have dry food down all the time so there’s no chance the mogs will starve. The feeders don’t work so well with Whisper, he simply can’t squeeze his fat face in there!

Ho hum…onwards and upwards…also did not win the Euromillions last night so I suppose I’ll have to plan for going to work on Monday.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Sloth is on the agenda for the day.

Yesterday, when I got to the clerk’s office, the kiosk to get a DL was out of order (here, we get tags at the county clerk’s office, license at the DMV, but smaller clerk’s branches usually have a kiosk to renew). While I was googling the hours for the DMV, I took a look at my license. Apparently, unnoticed by me, the state has gone from 5 years to 8 and I’m not due until 2026. I can live with that.

The music and company was good last night and we all enjoyed ourselves.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’m not sure when my license is up for renewal - I suppose I could check…

Showered, dressed, and I’ve got a load in the washer. I think I’ve picked up all of the toys and the vacuum is standing ready. I also swapped out the bag in the recycle can - it was kinda full. Just waiting to find out when FCD is planning to come home. Oh, yeah, and it’s critter fountain day, plus the cat box requires scoopage. It never ends, does it?

Good morning.

It’s currently 45 degrees, with an expected high of 50. The morning will contain light rain, and the afternoon shall be cloudy.

Polar seems to be doing a little better, although he still refuses to climb stairs.

I’m glad that FCD and hospice staff are in charge of the meds, FCM. I hold out hope that FiL passing will be peaceful.

Today’s agenda includes cleaning, dusting, roll-sucking, and floor washing. I’ll also try to get laundry done since everyone will be here tomorrow. Sundays are my usual laundry days.

Tomorrow morning I’ll head to the grocery store to pick up the birthday dinner ingredients and then wait for the kids and grandkids to descend upon the house.

I have been forgiven for the vet visit. The first read on the libre was in the 300s. Hopefully he keeps it on long enough to get a good chart on what is going on.

The auto feeder was the only way we could get him to lose weight. It has saved breakable and my legs. Sometimes if he feels I’m not listening to his food complaints he would swipe his claw at my leg, and sink his claws and teeth into my ankles if he was fast enough. Like I was a gazelle he was bringing down. This earned him time in “time out”.

Lager is like a wicked smart 3 year old.

After driving around MSP to find the pet store and buying an off-brand (for $2.75/can) because they don’t carry Fancy Feast, we arrived back home to find. . .the “delayed” Chewy shipment sitting in the mailroom. Life is odd, sometimes.

At least we got the police report on the check fraud and emailed it to the CU, so we should see repayment in the next couple of weeks.

Have a good weekend, all!

FCM, you made me check my Mega Millions tickets and…nada. Had two of the numbers on one line, but not the Megaball, so now have to decide if another Tennessee trip is worth it. Indoor Soccer today, will be around 11-5pm to pinch-hit either refereeing or fill-in coaching. At least it’ll get me out of the house and in moderately polite company.

rocker, glad your cat has learned (I hope) that biting the hand (or leg) than feeds him isn’t a great idea.

FCM, I feel somewhat for MIL; I remember my dad was completely lost after my mom died and even though he lived 10 years more, he never was quite the same. Hold strong. When it gets too tough, remember that story with Toby and all the other stories with Roxy and Toby.

shoe, hope your meal (once decided upon) was quite filling.

To all, the ‘old cat’ stories are nice to read, even if I’m not a cat person, but tinged with knowledge that all things pass, often sooner than we want them too…

OK, enough maudlin’ about. Have broken fast and am now ready to face the day. All y’all take care.

At the apartment. I helped FCD change and wash his dad. Then I made lunch. It’s sad here…

Happy Saturday!

I also once had a cat, Smokey, who lived to 18. Her decline happened relatively quickly: within two weeks of noticing any issues, it was obviously time to put her to sleep. At around 16 she developed hyperthyroidism, which was cured by radioactive iodine treatment. When I picked her up from the treatment center the tech recommended that I use a certain type of litter for a while, and wear gloves when cleaning the box, in case any lingering radioactivity passed via her urine/feces. I highly amused myself by asking, “If she bites me while she’s still radioactive, will I turn into cat woman?” The tech wasn’t nearly as amused.

I showered this morning, like a good human, and have started my laundry. That’s about it for the day, though.

I had plans for this evening, but I just cancelled. A couple is hosting a piano bar kind of thing in their condo, and the musicians are two really great guys (a pianist and a trumpet player) who I used to sing with pretty regularly but haven’t seen in years. They do this piano bar/open mic thing at the condo from time to time, and also occasionally at an Italian restaurant not far from me. I’ve been meaning to get to one for a while, and a little over a week ago I RSVPed to tonight’s gathering…but since then I’ve seen photos of past events with them/hosted by this couple, and the attendees seem to be all of the people I didn’t care for when I used to go sing with them. Plus, the next two weekends will be kind of busy. So, my inner “just stay home with the doggy tonight!” voice has gotten very loud. The guys will be at the Italian place again in a couple of weeks, so maybe I’ll try to go to that. I would like to see/sing with them again at some point.

Now, the rest of my plans for the day look a lot like my plans for the days I was off work last week: I’ll adjourn to the living room for lunch and to read for a few hours, then I’ll turn the TV on. I’m a little more than halfway through S6 of The Good Wife, and am holding off on watching anything else until I finish it (there are seven seasons). Current shows that I like have come back from the winter haitus, but those episodes can keep each other company on my TiVo’s hard drive for a while.

This made me curious about how feline blood glucose levels compare to ours (I know a lot about the latter, but nothing about the former), so I did some quick Googling and it seems like they’re similar: our “normal” range ends at 100, and theirs tops out at 120. So, now I know that the 300s for a cat is…not great. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that Lager’s monitor stays on long enough to be helpful!

I’m sorry you and FCD (and MIL, et al) are going through this tough, tough thing. :people_hugging:

Good evening!

Went for a loooong walk today and now both hubby and I have stiff muscles. We’re getting old.

Due to various reasons we got out of the habit of taking longer walks, or any walks at all, so we trying to do better since the weather’s being too nice. How nice? I saw a mosquito this morning.

I am so sorry. :people_hugging:

Lager has been bouncing around from 21 to over 400. He is a difficult boy.

Back from a grocery run (mostly usual routine needs, but did pick up another couple of things of pepperoni sticks for the “no cook food” inventory) and feeding the car. Cloudy and a bit windy just now, rain expected this evening, Monday’s going to be an intense one according to the guessers.

Gave my carless friend yet another ride. I’m happy to help him out, but it irritates me that this is all because he’s doing a favor for his deadbeat roommates (they need pet supplies - they don’t even have jobs let alone cars) so it’s like this chain of enabling.

Whatever. Home again, briefly, and have let the Howling Monkey out for a bit.

I went with the potato/sausage/bacon/onions hash, thanks. There’s a pic over in the “What’s For Dinner?” thread.

I got into my wife’s pants.

Her Levi’s were a little tight for her, so she gave them to me. They’re like my 501s, only they have a zipper. I’m wearing them now. She said, ‘I hate it. You keep getting skinnier, and I keep getting fatter.’

Jack Sprat would eat no fat/
His wife would eat no lean/
And so between the two of them/
They licked the platter clean.

Howdy Y’all! We have accomplished the makeage of foodstuffs for tomorrow. Go Us! Also, nappage has been achieved. It has been decided that we shall get some Li’l Caesar’s pepperoni pizza for sup. I know, I know, but sometimes we really want their pepperorini pizza. It shall be made healthy with the addition of sallit.

MOOOOOOM a death watch is a sad thing to go through. I hope everyone will be at peace when the inevitable happens.

Oopsie down time is a good Sattidy night activity, IMO.

Mrs. L.A. is eating her leftover Schnitzel. Goo is really liking the green beans. Like, grabbing them out of her fingers. (Cat Mom tries to bite or tear off a little piece, and Goo doesn’t want to wait.)

Howdy all. Watching the KC and LV game while wearing my new Mahomes jersey. My Sonnyboy just had to make sure I had one.

Swampy I am still laughing about the “Frawgs and Dawgs!

FCM continued hugs and good vibes for that horrible situation.
