Well, it's .. sorry, what year is it? MMP

What? The? Hell? USPS?

I know, first world problem here, but the tracking on this package is making NO sense. It started in Springvale, Utah, bound for Sacramento, California. The stop in Denver, Colorado, already seems a little odd, but it’s usual for stuff coming from Utah for some reason. What doesn’t make sense are the next several stops: Amarillo, Texas (going the wrong direction here, guys), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (slight degree of logic here with going a little north), and Memphis, Tennessee (WAY the wrong way here!).

Come on, nice snails, this package needed to go WEST from its origin, so why is it now in the Eastern time zone, when it started from Mountain time and needs to reach a destination in Pacific time?

They still think they’re running on time for delivery on Thursday, which is still within delivery time estimate at the time I placed the order, and there’s nothing time-critical here (just some books). Still, the routing is making even less sense than USPS usually does.

He wakes me because he comes to bed. He takes the water reservoir out of his BPAP machine, turns on the bathroom light while leaving the door open, refills the reservoir, shuffles back to the nightstand puts everything back to together, puts his mask on and adjusts it, and then flings himself into bed. EVERY.NIGHT. I’ve asked him countless times to refill his reservoir when he wakes in the morning so he doesn’t need to do it at night. He remembers for a night or two. Then there’s tossing, turning, scratching, and leg twitches. On most weekend nights, I will eventually give up and go to the guest room, but I like my bed better, damn it.

Eh, that’s not long after I went to bed.

Man, that is way too much mental effort for something still within the delivery window. I mean, unless this is like TV for you?

Me, I send things off, retain the tracking slip, and only expend further energy IF the damn thing doesn’t arrive. Until then, it’s in Og’s hands, and out of mine.

Refill it for him? Might be worth the extra sleep.

Alternate suggestion: get a way more comfy “guest” bed. Make that your space.

@swampbear Hippie Birdie to OYKW!

@purplehorseshoe feel better soonest :ramen::tea:(hot soup and tea!)

@Sticks_and_Scones same. Imma try to do better too.

2023 will be like 2022 I reckon. Some ups some downs and some meh. I did hear a good idea, and I plan to try to implement it, is to think back every week what was the best thing that happened , write it down, and put it in a jar or something . Then at the end of the year reminisce about all the good stuff that happened.

Spent NYE talking to The Ex. We have a surprisingly close friendship (although there are reasons we aren’t married anymore and that is not going to change anytime soon) I decided the other day that he’s really my ride or die. Against all odds he’s the one I count on to always have my back. So there’s that. I normally go over to my folks but they were out of town, and it wasn’t such a bad night. Sipped a little Orange & SoCo (they don’t call me Janis for nothin’) , and watched the fireworks. Today, there will be shopping both online and off, I need to write a letter to my pen pal, and some picking up and general house irk will ensue. Then it’s back to the salt mines tomorrow. Happy New Year, Everymumper!

Had a cheese omelet with auteed 'shrooms and sauasage for brunch. The fog has burned off, and it’s partly cloudy. I may wash the outside windows today.

When did Alex Catt start sleeping with you?

Yes!

Considering I’ve had Hawaii bound stuff in our Missroute pile befre, it doesn’t seem too crazy.

I’m having the usual cognitive distortion about it being 2023, but I’m happy that it’s here.

I’ve realized that my father will turn 75 this year! I might try to do something special for him. When he turned 70, I got his youngest brother to come from NYC to surprise him; for 75, I might see if the two youngest brothers could come here (the other lives in FL). He’s the second oldest of six, but everyone lives out of state and his other three siblings aren’t able to travel. Luckily his birthday isn’t until October, so I have time to plan…but, that’s also when the two youngest brothers’ birthdays are. Why yes, my grandparents’ anniversary was in January. We’ll see.

My usual breakfast is a vanilla protein shake + 8 oz of cold brew concentrate, which makes for a nice coffee shake. Today I decided to try mixing the cold brew with a chocolate shake instead of vanilla, hoping for a mocha outcome…it didn’t work (I couldn’t taste any coffee at all). But even though I didn’t care for it, it was nice to try something different. Someone in my post-op support group recently posted that he mixes instant coffee into protein shakes: that would be a lot cheaper than the concentrate (and I could get decaf), so I’ll get a small jar the next time I go to the grocery store and try it out.

Like boofae, I go back to work tomorrow. I’m mostly ready, but staycations aren’t the same since I started working from home: I find myself wishing that I’d be going to an office (with people) tomorrow, vs just turning on different computers in the same room I’ve spent every morning in while I was off work. I’ve missed the office-related interpersonal stuff since the pandemic started, but these days I sometimes also miss there being a physical separation between home and work. Still, I needed the past week off and am glad I took it.

I’m also glad there’s another federal/company holiday in two weeks.

There are one or two things I could do today, but nothing that can’t wait…so, it shall. I like the habit I’ve gotten into of reading for a while at lunchtime and not watching TV* until late afternoon/early evening, so I plan to do more of that. Yesterday afternoon I was able to turn off the heat and actually open a couple of windows for a little while; I’m hoping for a repeat of that, as well (I only kept the windows open for an hour or two, but I didn’t have to turn the heat back on until shortly before I went to bed).

*At first I typed “not turning the TV on,” but that’s not accurate: I have the TV on while I’m reading, but the show is always something I don’t care about and the volume is always super low (lately it’s been re-runs of Emergency!). I spend all morning in a silent house with no problem, but for some reason by the time I’m ready to do some reading I want some kind of background noise.

Happy birthday to the one who loves/puts up with our swampy!

Earlier this morning, FB reminded me that I had a cold on this day in 2016. My response was to go buy a piano. I’m not sayin’ you should buy a piano, but my cold was gone by the time it was delivered…

I usually find it best not to watch/look at such things…much like sausage being made.

So far there was snuggle time with lager, and giving koritza a new catnip mouse. I did put 2 items into storage and pick up some post and a package.

For 2022 I read 155 books, and grew 6.75 inches of hair. A somewhat productive year…

I’m compulsive enough to want to know where my stuff is.

If you have a cable provider that has the Music Choice collection of channels, I find that a good source of background sound. For some reason, Xfinity does the caller ID display for the landline on the TV screen, so if I’m using the Fire stick or Blu-ray player or the TV is off, no caller ID display.

I do get those channels, but music actually doesn’t work for me as background noise while I’m reading…and, the TV doesn’t work as background noise while I’m editing (which, when working, is the time silence bothers me the most). Brains are weird.

I got what I wanted to get done in the yard. I guess I’ve earned chillage!

Had a nice and quick COVID-delayed Christmas with the fam. Now readying to do some house cleaning and reorgaizng (an all-winter task) lest we otherwise be killed by cascading stacks of books and blankets.

Despite a certain quantity of marzipan, I weight less after Christmas (observed). Later this week, I’ll give the 8-week Ozempic results, though I don’t get my comparison A1c for another 4.

Happy Moonday!
I am so out of sync, it feels like Toosday!

Happy Birthday OYKW!

Wet 46 degrees at the park this morning. Barky and Humpy were there, which was a surprise.
I should have left the park earlier as I had a dr appt at 10.
We stopped to pick up scripts on the way home, and the girl at the window must be new. She was having problems with everything.
I microwaved a breakfast bowl and gave out all the pills. I left later than I wanted to, but still made it to the appointment 5 minutes early.
Of course, you’re supposed to arrive 15 minutes early.

This morning has been messy anyway.
I woke up at 330 but thought it was 530.
I got in the bath, only to have no hot water because my son had just taken a shower.
Then I went back to bed and slept through the alarms.
I forgot all the papers I needed to take with me to the dr.
Including directions, I couldn’t remember if I turn onto Potomac or Mulberry. One nice thing, the parking lot was mostly empty, so I got a spot close to the door.

Now Cerby is driving up nuts. The neighbor is having some roof irk done and Cerby was losing his mind. He’s being quiet right now, don’t know how long it will last.
You would swear we were beating him by the way he yelps and screams.
The roofer is doing some irk on our side too, and the neighbor is paying for the whole job. Unfortunately, I think the part being fixed has nothing to do with the leak. He’s fixing some loose shingles on the front part of the roof.
I’m going to try to catch him before he leaves, but right now he’s up there somewhere and I’m not going to call him down.

Ripple’s leg looks worse. The crater is getting bigger every day. The vet is closed today, but they are supposed to call me about the surgery and I’m going to see if they can do it sooner.
At least he is not hurting or anything. He ran around the park and had a good time this morning.
He went on the small side with Lucy dad and Echo.
I don’t know what it is about the small side that gets them so excited. It’s like they know they don’t belong there and get a thrill from being bad.
I like it because there are benches nearer the gate and I don’t have to walk as far on my bad knee.

We had been going on the small side since it is less muddy, but the park person told us we can’t anymore as somebody complained. Lucy dad won’t care, he always does what he wants and people leave him alone.
For some reason some people think he looks scary, I think he looks like a big teddy bear.

Happy Birthday, OYKW! That’s right isn’t it? It’s today?

Feel better Shoe.

I hope you can get Ripples leg wound sorted out soon Sari.

I noticed a ‘health’ app on my iPhone the other day and set it up, mostly. It keeps track of my sleep, and some other stuff. This morning it says I was in bed 9hrs and 43min, but slept 6hrs and 35min. It’s been like that for the few days I’ve had it active. I always felt like I wasn’t getting enough sleep when I was working for the man and getting up at 4:30 in the early, early dark. Although 6 anna half hours beats Mom and Taters so I guess I shouldn’t complain.
It’s nice being retired.

I’ll second the idea of getting a better guest bed, Taters, and just moving in there.

Let’s make this year is better’n last.

Sincerest apologies for not participating in the previous MMP thread. You all know how busy Christmas gets.

It’s my mom’s birthday today, so we’re going to see The Fabelmans in theatres, then we’ll get pizza for dinner afterwards.

I also recently redid my avatar to look a little cleaner. See if you can spot the differences!

Howdy, y’all. Was a light day at the shop today, I was home by noon. The rest of the week is looking busy, though. I get to toss around a bunch of plywood and steel pipe.

shoe Hope the cold clears soon!

sari Give Ripple some skritches and hope the sound clears up.

Hippy Buthuthday, OYKW

Happy Birthday OYKW. Good on both of you for surviving another year

Isn’t it nice? I sure do like snow a lot better now that I don’t have to actually go out and do anything in it.

Silly birds!

I moved the finch sock today because I thought the bigger birds were scaring the little finches. The finches had no issues with the move, but GG suddenly has NEW and DIFFERENT birds to watch and has been stampeding from bed to catio and back much to VBC’s annoyance. She wants to use the bed for a nap, thank you very much!

What a horrible waste of a perfectly acceptable sloth day! (I hope you are on the ground floor.)

I’m worried and I haven’t even seen it. You must be going out of your mind. I hope the vet can do the surgery soon.

Yep, and nice sheets, a pretty comforter and black out curtains.

Welcome back Godbod and happy birthday to your most wonderous progenitor.

The sun is out, the sleet has melted off and our front bog looks like a parking lot again.

We think the water company has a leak at the valve in front of our yard. We shut our water off at the main and aren’t showing any leaks so it is on the water company’s side.

I’m conflicted about this because while I don’t want the water to be wasted, I also don’t want the water company bringing in a backhoe to dig up the valve. When it has happened in the past, they always end up in our yard and never clean up the big mess they make, so we have to pay to have it done. If we call them now, they will get in the mud and tear things up and make a horrible mess and will refuse to take any responsibility for the extensive damage they will cause.

I think I’m going to ignore the leak for a few days. Maybe it isn’t even a leak, maybe it is just standing water with wind ripples. I should probably be back in my stitching room instead of staring out the front windows anyhow. Out of sight, out of mind, that’s my motto!

Howdy Y’all! I donned appropriate attire, braved the great unwashed, and got the ice cream cake from DQ. I was so worn out by that, I needed a nap when I got back to da cave. The things we do for love. Or for the one we tolerate more than we tolerate most others. We often say to each other, “I guess it must be love 'cause I put up with you.”

OYKW says thanks for all the bday wishes from complete strangers. I told him that, as far as I know, most of you are probably not axe murderers. I mean, I’ve met some of y’all, and so far I haven’t been chased with an axe. I consider that to be a positive thing.

{{{Sticky Buns}}} :: tacklehug :: do come back and play some more!

shoe hope you’re over your cold soonest. May the turkey visit your corn.

GodBod happy bd to your mom.

Everyone else, retention is not so good right now, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, noogies, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Well, Costco was a futile effort. The parking lot was completely full, with motorized vultures circling endlessly. It spilled over into the Home Despot next door, as well. From the looks of things, it was mostly irate people who hated what they got and were there to return whatever it was. We gave up and returned home, where I made a big batch of Chex mix.

Every time I walk into the bedroom today, Allie seems to be inching closer to Buddy (who’s pretty much been in the same spot the whole time, mostly sleeping).

Imgur

Afternoon all. Made it to the gym where I did my swimming and sauna, but the scale says 10+ days of sloth added 4lbs to my body, so need to work that off again. Seeing about donating my remaining Pepsi 12-packs so I can get started on the 0-calorie stuff, which will help, just need to get back in exercise mode.

Nettie, is that because she’s more accepting of him, or is she planning a sneak attack? Nice picture, both are beautiful. As for the mail, I can see Denver as being a central point for most Western states, but the other stops don’t make much sense (Memphis is a major UPS hub, if the USPS handed it off to them for delivery…well, hope it makes it by Thursday.

Cookie, Kroger was fairly busy today as was the gym, lots of people have the day off I guess.

Taters, I concur with others in sprucing up the guest room if husband-unit continues his bad habits… A little lesson from Lysistrata of Greek mythology might do wonders for his evening rituals…

JtC, hope the water leak can be fixed without too many issues. I had one inside the house last year and it cost me about $4,000 to fix.

Godbod, no problem, glad you like us well enough to come back. And happy Mom-Day birthday! Let us know how the movie was (haven’t been in a theater in 2 years…)

Sari, can understand Cerby a little but; roof work, even if it’s next door, can be irritating. And best wishes to Ripple.

Oopsie, that’s a nice thing you’re planning for Dad-Birthday. Hope it works out. And I usually have the TV on for maybe 1-2 hours a day, I manage quite well in a mostly-silent house.

shoe, much too late, but toast and cheese sounds pretty good to me. And feel better soon!

OK, maybe watch some college tackleball and decide what to get for dinner. All y’all have a good evening.
