Have they not heard of teleconferencing? Or do they like paying for employees to drive for hours and hours?? I always loved when I had to fly somewhere, stay overnight and all that, just for a 2 hour meeting because someone thought it was important that my butt occupy a chair.
Almost done with this last batch of drawings, which is good, because there’s a batch that I did ages ago coming out of check for some minor fixes. Busy busy!!

Flytrap He did the night before I was to take my son out to fly in a cessna for his 4th birthday. I signed up for an introductory flying lesson just so he could go up in a plane. Everybody thought I’d chicken out, but I did it. He had a fantastic time.

Just bringing my head above water for a moment to say hello.
New editing system at work was turned on Monday - it’s been interesting to say the least. Very stressful. Although we have had high definition newsgathering for years our fieldwork was technically ‘enhanced standard definition’ which is hard to tell that it wasn’t full HD. It was widescreen but just a tad fuzzier.
So with the new editing comes all new computers, new systems, new workflow and a whole new way to do everything. And since we are still responsible for doing our daily jobs, these first few days have been nail biters.
Get to go camping (well, technically log cabining) with my kids next week. Gotta go look for what is left of my camping gear.

Me and the Old Wench like 36 years. Had I done anything else that day I would have at least gotten a parole hearing by now. My dog’s license had to be renewed yearly - my drivers license every 3 years. But marriage? No-oooooo. Pardon me while I go in a closet and sob.

Anyway, last night’s laser thing wound up not happening, 'cos only 4 of us showed, which isn’t really enough for a game- so we just went to the pub instead. Fun, but not exactly the plan…
Up early (for me) going with PB’s Ma to her friend’s Funeral., So PB is the the kitchen making breakfast & I am showered, makeuped & appropriately (I hope!) attired. I will probably sleep on the way to Springfield. Also, my eyes are really bugging me this morning, all cloudy & sting-y & watery. blurf.

Giggity… So whose fault was it that the new edit controllers are so different? And couldn’t they just change the decks and leave the controls alone?
When I was in high school, some <mumble mumble> years ago, we had a Sony edit controller that drove a pair of U-Matic decks, and if we ever had the massive bucks to upgrade, it could also handle Betacam decks. I’d like to think that today, going from EDTV (guessing you used to shoot 480i?) to full-on HD would be even easier than it was back when our “portable” ENG rig weighed 30 pounds and used 20 minute tapes, and engineers stared at vectorscopes while twiddling things. (Is there really even anything left to twiddle now that everything between the camera lens and my eyes is digital?)

Went home yesterday and TheElf made me chili while I napped. He’s a good elf. Then there was knitting and then bedtime.
The first day of Spring in KC and it’s sunny, but not warm. The second day of Spring will bring snow or rain. As will the 3rd, and the 4th. And maybe the 5th, 6th and 7th. I am soooo ready for some permanent warm weather!
In other news, I still haven’t put the buttons on the vest I’m making or finished cutting out the pattern pieces for the coat. If I could do this stuff here at irk it’d be done by now. My job mostly involves being in my office so that if they need me to do some drafting I’m there to do it. For at least the last year that has meant that I haven’t had much billable work. They don’t mind the knitting, but I haven’t had the nerve to ask the boss if I can bring my sewing project in.
