I’ve done some pretty cool things in my life & have a few more on my bucket list; however, becoming a human crop is not one of them! I’ll pass on this DopeFest. Thanks for asking though.
Thanks, I think. Just one question, though: Tough as I’d kick their arse if they tried or tough as in gamey & not tender & I’d fail the QC checks?
I think the big difference today is everything is software driven. We moved from Avid editing to Edius editing. The idea of nonlinear editing remains the same; the workflow, keyboard layout and methods of making effects are all different. I don’t have a good analogy beyond perhaps being used to working with a PC and Microsoft Office for the last 10 years and being handed a Mac with Pages and being told “make a 20 page technical document like you did yesterday by 5pm and don’t make any errors!”
As for camera twiddling there is plenty to do, in fact high def is far less forgiving when it comes to focus & other details. White balance, audio levels, filter wheel, shutter - it’s all still there.
There is however, I shit you not, an “Easy” button on the side of the camera you can hit for the moment when too much is happening and you need to get that shot RIGHT NOW and don’t have time to preset anything. That puts everything other than focus into AUTO mode and you just have to worry about point / focus / record.
10,694 days for me - it’ll be 30 years on Dec 9. Not bad for only knowing him 4 weeks before we eloped.
Almost lunch time - at last! Three unexpected drawing crawled out of the woodwork. I’ve been saying naughty things about the alleged “engineer” who came up with this monstrosity. I know for a fact the guy had no engineering education - he was a draftsman who convinced someone that he could design. Um, no he couldn’t. I could have designed something to serve the same purpose which would have cost less, been built faster, and weighed less (a consideration in a UAV.) Instead, I’m redrawing his crap because that’s what they built.
Hey, that link wasn’t because I thought your math required checking, it was because I knew mine would be way off it I tried to do it manually! :o
**Bobbio **-- according to the ratio we’ve come up with, 70 will be the new 14.
By the time I’m 80 I’ll be allowed to drive. Of course by then I’ll probably be too dangerous on the road to drive… (or not. My father is nearly 82 and drives just fine.)
This is the first day this week I haven’t come to work tired. I still didn’t manage to get here early, but that’s probably not too likely. (I swear my bed’s gravitational field is triple in the mornings).
I really need to do something with my windows. I have those cheap ugly venetian blinds. They don’t block enough light at night - that side of the apt. is lit up by the street lamps. I wonder if I can get or make an automatic curtain opening thingy… And I’m thinking heavily of putting frosted vinyl cling on the windows so I don’t have to worry about people peeking in when I do have the blinds open.
I’ve often said that my heart and mind are still in their early 30s (figuratively speaking) and my physical body feels like it’s in its 80s - so it all balances out to my chronological age.
I sent Mrs. Jim a note and the divorce ball is rolling. It is time to end the marriage that was a bad idea from the beginning and never really was a marriage at all.
Don’t take it personally, Nuts, I think it has something to do with being over this side of the pond - they miss my buffday every year too
I am somewhat blurfy today, this whole stoopit HR thing has given me a sick headache. I was feeling rough yesterday and not much better today. I just want to go back to work, dammit!
Taco soup for N.O.L. Good choice on a coolish day.
I do not have a list of Mumper birthdays. I sing real loud when I happen to know but I don’t always know. Mayhaps we should do sump’n about this? Do folks want to PM me with birthdays so’s I can compile a list? Does somebody have another suggestion about this? I’m good either way.
Spidey have you found a restaurant that sells tires yet? I ask cause you said you wanted to eat at a restaurant with tires or recommended by a tire manufacturer or some such.
Sari I’ve been to two dopefests, a good sized one in Seattle (that got titled “swampfest” cause I started a thread about goin’ to Seattle and wantin’ to meet dopers) and a smaller one in Tampa. Both were a ton 'o fun!
Showery weather here today, projected high 59. We’re supposed to hit 70 by the weekend.
Must do some defilthifying and cooking ahead today myself, since tomorrow’s the day I’m gone basically all day volunteering. At least I might even have a useful energy level today (been really tired for most of the last week, I suspect due to no caffeine in system. I really needed to at least cut back quite a bit).
Princess Razorfang Scissorpaws is feeling a bit clingy today, apparently. Usually she does that on Friday.
