Well, Somebody's Gotta Do The MMP

Have said higher-ups never heard of conference calls? I hope you’re at least being reimbursed for the gas!

Thanks for the calculator link. You’ve got me beat by a bit. 6552 days so far.

Thank you Brother Mumper but I have exactly $0 invested in Mrs. Jim emotionally. I cut up our rings with bolt cutters and left about 4 months in. I was crazy when we got married but I got over it quickly, have no idea why she married me. She has avoided getting divorced because, I think, it is a crutch for her as it won’t allow her to commit. Haven’t heard from her in years til a few months ago and the duration thing today spurred me to action. I need to do this before she disappears again.

If the gang wishes I will tell the sorrid tale of how I got married and why. But ya’ll gotta ask beware it will take a bit.

I am hungry gotta go eat

Jim

Waydaminnit… we are talking about how long we’ve been married.

Bliss does not figure in these kinds of calculations…

Well… a happy birthday to anyone and everyone whose birthdays I missed! I am sorry. :frowning:

Happy Wednesday, at least the week is half over, right? BooFae, I hope you don’t have the Norovirus - someone even gave that stuff to the Queen, right? I guess she’s doing better, but my gosh they had to hospitalize her! And I am starting to get really paranoid every time I see those shingles commercials! I keep meaning to get the vaccine but what if it just ends up triggering an attack? I remember how sick I was when I had chicken pox in the first place! LOL … shudder!

I made some Irish soda bread yesterday but it didn’t quite turn out right. It was a bit wet. I think the ingredients need to be tweaked for the altitude of Albuquerque maybe. Ah well, it still tasted good although I didn’t put enough raisins in it, according to my daughter!

Hope everyone has a good day today.

You’ve forgotten the super-mini-fest, AKA Cheap Date?? :stuck_out_tongue: I am crushed. I may start tearing up from the pain.

Home, waiting for the Harley to be done. Supper will be chickie with carmelized onions, cabbage, and maybe carrots.

It’s lookin’ like all the positive vibes **FCD **got from his job interview were bogus. It’s been a week anna half and he’s heard nothing. Oh well, what ya gonna do?? I know he’s bummed because while the new job would have paid less, it would have been lots less stressful and it sounded like a lot more fun. At least he’s still got a job (no word on furloughs, yet.)

I’s hongree but it’s way too early to start supper. Maybe I’ll nosh on a coupla crackers, just to take the edge off.

I’ve been single for 314 days and hoping to increase that number.

Tomorrow me and Night Audit Lady are going to blow part of that $50 Olive Garden gift card. I’m taking her because I know she loves Olive Garden and she’s off Thursday.

I’m tired. Time to eat and crochet. Not at the same time, of course.

If I get to look like that, I don’t care what the MMP calls me. I’d appreciate y’all avoiding fart references, though. (Ill - Air) According to the name books, Yllaria is a variation of Hillary, which is related to laughter. Think hilarious. Not that I think I’m hilarious, personally. Maybe worth a wry smile once in awhile.

Yeah. That was so unfair. They sent us home from school and there was nothing to watch but a view of the line of people slowly shuffling by the coffin, and then later those few scenes shown over and over.
Congratulations on the weight loss, Baker.

Two references to blogs and one to a conlang. Cool. I’ll have to snoop around here more often.

My Mom’s deviled eggs were always mayo and pickle relish, sometimes with an extra dash of pickle water. I’ve never settled on a My Recipe for deviled eggs. They’re different every time. It amuses me to mix in, or top with, that cheap caviar. Eggs in/on eggs. But it’s never worked out well enough to be My Recipe.

Writer’s group tonight. We probably won’t write. And odds are only one or two of us will have written since last week. But we’ll chat. Sometimes about writing or at least about something we’ve read. I can report that I’ve updated my blog, at least.

Oh, yeah - we get travel pay. We have the capability to do ‘webinars’ or whatever they’re called these days (these are actually interactive, not just one-way), but TPTB’s often seem to have this irrational need to hear themselves speak to the lowly masses. What was that quote about “struts and frets about the stage”?

Here’s the real kicker, though. The meeting?

It’s about labor scheduling. :smack:

Sometimes I feel like I’m living in a Dilbert® comic strip…

And I’ve been dealing with the first real nasty cold I’ve had all season to boot, so I’m agonna be sure to shake hands with the good folks who set up this here little shindig, yep. After a good coughing fit.

On the plus side, I’m making a nice hot beefy-vegetable soup from scratch for dindin, and it’s almost done! Some fresh bread 'n butter, and a steaming bowl should calm me down nicely. Also, I’m putting in for a whole day tomorrow, since the travel time, meeting and lunch will just about put me at a full shift anyway, so I’m coming straight home and crawling under the blankets on the couch where I shall while away the rest of the day reading and dozing.

So there.

I was once in a writers’ group. It got so bad (as in none of us bringing in new stuff) at one point that the group leader handed out assignments.

Yllaria you need a name so…

I propose Yeller

That’s all I got, gotta get the ball rolling

Jim

Playing around with the letters, I get Really, Iller, or Yells.

And I could talk about my conlang for hours, but I know most people find it boring/indecipherable.

I like **Yeller **- subtle yet it works. I think it’s a keeper!

Supper was good - it was a recipe from a diabetic diet cookbook. The chicken and onions were simmered in a sauce of peach preserves, wine vinegar, soy sauce, and ginger - kinda like teriyaki with a little fruit. We decided when we have it again, I’m going to sauté some more veggies - green beans, julienned carrots, shredded cabbage, mushrooms, zucchini… The recipe also said you can use orange marmalade, apricot jam, or raspberry jam, and you could use pork instead of chicken. I think the recipe is a keeper.

FCD’s bike won’t be ready till maybe tomorrow. They forgot to call him about the drive belt, which, it turns out, needs to be replaced. So he might get it tomorrow, or maybe the next day. No biggie - it’s way too cold out to ride anyway!

And on that note, I’m going to assume the knit position. I’m making a shawl - it started from the point at the bottom, and it’s growing like crazy - you add 4 stitches every other row. It’s an easy but pretty pattern - I may make it again.

So TTFN!

I named me a Mumper woot woot

I actually think I am going to start a thread with the story of how I ended up married, tis a long and sorrid tale, perfect for both Mumpers and Dopers.

Tomorrow, tonight Game of Thrones and whiskey

Jim

I never get to name anybody… :frowning:

Finished cleaning up the completed lexicon entries for Nyjichun. 292 words, 234 entries (roots, affixes, and some derivations don’t count). I have a handful of words to remake, then about another 150 words to fill out all the columns for.
