We're late, we're late! A Monday Afternoon MMP

:frowning: Sad for you, Soapy. OTOH cats have been known to reappear long after they left, so it’s always possible kitty might still be back. Hugs.

Purchased new phone; got a free replacement SIM card from the AT&T store and then bought a go phone. They’re supposed to credit the free minutes that come with the phone to my account. Don’t know if they’ll net it out of my bill or just out of minutes beyond my plan. It’s charging right now; we’ll see how it works.

Off to bed. (Sinuses still making me crazy.)

Hugs.

I’m so sorry, **Soapy. ** I was really hoping kitty would finally meander home.

Nava, I’d way too full of grrrrrrrr to be coherent.

Yay Puggy! I’m so happy for you!

Work was a pain, but what else is new?

My son is at work, and soon I’ll have to figure out what I’m cooking for dinner.

Swampy, was your mouth agape at the Agape Dinner?

Yeah. That’s why I’m a Netflix client…

I found out today that my former therapist’s son died last week. He died of a horrible disease: primary sclerosing cholangitis which turned into liver cancer.

He was 23. :frowning:

SclerosingCholangitis
I don’t know if he was their older or younger son (they had 2).

I’m sorry about your kitty, Soapy. :frowning:

And I have to work in hell tomorrow. I really need to quit that job, but now with the library kinda whacked, I’m not sure what to do. Plus, the $ is a real boost.

I hate being an adult and dealing with this shit.

:: hugs for Soapy and rigs ::

Orbitz has North Korea on their list of countries but no South Korea. :dubious:

$9.00 pitcher night, Canes win, great time at the Tobacco Road, then it was :eek:karaoke:eek: at the bar up the road(the :eek:s are for my friend’s ex’s singing) . Tomorrow, another game, different bar, hopefully the same result.

Yay Puggy!!! First rounds on you!

{{{{{Soapy}}}}} Thrak has been missing a year.

Forgot to say, congrats Pug!! Beer! Pie! Let’s go nuts!

Interesting conversation with the Orbitz folks, Haze.

I’ve reached the conclusion that I’ll file that project under B for “Bullets, Dodged”. I’ve lost some money for the train reservations, but

  • they were requiring that the contractors bring laptops with XP. Since both my netbook and the old overheating laptop which needs to be on the AC are XP, I had not (unlike other people) gone and purchased a second-hand laptop specifically to bring there.
  • the money loss is a lot smaller than if, say, I’d been there for a week or two (which could have happened).
  • the problem was between the last contractor and the final client; the last contractor is doing somersaults saying “we still want all this people, promise!” Of course, whether they find me or not will be another problem.
  • the reaction of my sister in law when she’d heard Seville (as reported by two separate reputable sources) had been “oh, now that is a place where I will come visit!”… the cancellation sort of saves me a “bless your heart, dear”. She thought I was going to be renting a house big enough for five visitors (the couple, the two kidlets and The Real Grandmother, that is, not-my-mother), and having all the additional furniture they Require (because, how are you going to change the Kidlette’s diapers on top of a table?), in one of the most expensive cities in the country? Bless her heart indeedy.

I don’t know where will my next project be, but if She Who Must Be Put In Her Place wants to come visit, I’ll help her find a nice hotel.

**Ivory **-- maybe false hope, but we had a cat who disappeared for a few months before showing up again in front of our building. And then proceeded to live as a semi-stray, outdoors, for nearly 10 more years… So – don’t get your hopes up :(, but don’t completely give up hope, either.

**Haze **-- all kinds of country lists tend to have Israel on them in a haphazard way, too. Doesn’t make us (or you) non-existent, just makes the provider look like a jack-ass. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN Irk looms, alas.

BBBobbio HAR!

The Agape Supper was really good. Lots of stuff like baba ganoush (may or may not be spelled right, get over it), couscous, hummus (three different kinds even), chicken, beef, lamb, fish, olives, cheeses, fruits, pita bread, wine, sparkling grape juice and other stuff I can’t remember the name of but was good anyways. We ate then we had Holy Communion. Good food and a surprisingly (to me) good attendance.

rigs how sad about your former therapist’s son!

gt peepshi is just so wrong on so many levels it boggles the mind! Oh and the minutes will, or should be, added to your account and show on your bill as bonus minutes. Or they’ll screw it all up and you’ll have to call about your bonus minutes. Hey, it’s ATT, what can I say.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Blurf.

I went to the pub last night, had a couple of halves of Enville Ale which was very nice. Got to bed just before midnight and didn’t sleep too badly so I am not feeling all that blurfy today. It’s my last day at work before the easter break, I will be off until 12th April. Woot.

Congrats on the new job, pugs!

Just a quick post - had trouble getting here last night, but SDMB thinks I was here. Hah!

HUGS for Soapy and Rigs and prayers for the family.

Semi-caffeinated, so am not fully awake just yet. Zooming to work in a very few… happy Thursday all!

Thanks everybody! Your support and good wishes are truly appreciated!

gt, that peeps link is hilarious!

{{{soapy}}} but what noonie said.

nava, yes, it certainly sounds like a bullet dodged.

Must go purtify for paper-signing at new irk.

Tupug

I know this country which often gets listed under S, because as anybody can tell, S is the initial of España. Microchof is one of the few international webs that file it under E for España, but there I tend to get lost because the text is in English and therefore I look for Spain under S… there’s no pleasing some people, I guess!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. More hockey tonight.

… And I’m sure **Boo **has some stories to tell us about the United Kingdom, Britain, Great Britain, and England… (and probably Scotland and Wales thrown in for good measure! :smack:  :D)

Thanks for the sympathy and for the hope. I do remain hopeful.

I got her three years ago as a kitten. What makes me really sad is that she was part of a litter of four that were shoved in a duffle and dumped on the side of the road. I took two kittens and my sister took two. She was by far far the tiniest of the kittens and sparked every instinct I had to cuddle and protect. She did have attachment issues- she woudn’t cuddle close (like her brother who was a lap cat) but was beginning to come closer and closer when she slept and was even beginning to purr when we petted her. She was really beginning to trust people. I feel so sad that her life may have ended alone and scared, confirming what she must have believed from day 1- the world sucks.

I know I’m really anthropomorphizing things, but I don’t care.
