THE FLAMES ARE IN!!! For the first time in nine years, and for the first time ever while I’ve been living here. I’m so excited! This city is going to go absolutely nuts now. For those of you who don’t know, for Canadians the Stanley Cup is the all-time, biggest, greatest, holy grail of sports. AND WE’RE PLAYING FOR IT!!!
Congratulation, it’s time to bring the Grail part-way home (home being, of course, Montréal :D)
WOOT! WOOT! I couldn’t even watch the game I was so worked up! :):D:):D:)
As an aside - Featherlou - 9 stinkin’ years?!?! Yer a NEWBY!!
We’ve been cheering you on like crazy! Absolutely fabulous!
I’d just like to say that that Iginla fellow is one hell of a hockey player.
I’m ready to jump on the bandwgon.
Go Flames!!
Given Daizy’s location, this post alone should get this thread on the “Thread-Spotting” list.
Congrats to Calgary, even if they did knock my Canucks out in the first round. Oh well, apparently the last time Calgary beat Vancouver in the first round, Calgary won the Cup, so let’s hope history can repeat itself. Here’s to bringing the Cup back home to Canada!
2004 NHL WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPION CALGARY FLAMES!!!
Here we come, and you’re going down!!!
Congratulations Calgary from a Red Wings fan. I’ll console myself with the fact that we were knocked out by the eventual Stanley Cup Champions.
As an Edmontonian and a die-hard Oilers fan, I’m proud to sayGO FLAMES GO!!!
GO LIGHTNING!!
Hey Bear_Nenno - PTHBBBTBTTBTTB! (That’s a big wet raspberry )
I had forgotten in all the excitement in Calgary that we’re basically playing for all of Canada at this point. You know, I don’t know if we can get more excited by winning the Cup - we’re just so incredibly thrilled to make it this far with a team that wasn’t supposed to even make the finals.
Well, since the Sharks knocked out my Avs, and Calgary in turn eliminated San Jose (not to mention Detroit!)…
Go Flames!
Didja see Lloyd Robertson on the CTV news last night? Not only was the Flames win the lead story, Lloyd was wearing a red tie and pocket scarf and he was positively GLEEFUL as he was reporting.
In fact, the second story was the shooting in Iraq and it looked like he was having trouble containing his Flames happy grin while reporting it.
Did I mention WOOT!
As a Calgary resident for 90% of my life - woot - as a resident of the 17th Ave area - shame on the fans (or should I say bandwagon jumpers for whom this is just an excuse to get drunk & act stupid)!
Every win has been a bane for me - I can barely make it to work in the morning thanks to people who don’t realize that the minute you leave 17th that there are people who may want to sleep in the condos & apartments only a few blocks away…
If you are one of those people partying on 17th - once you leave the block - please don’t honk, yell, cheer, or what ever you were doing between 2 AM and 5 AM right behind my apartment.
The doorwell of my building is not a toilet, and the alley behind my place is not a parking lot, and my side street & alley are not a parade route, and pleas edon’t expel vomit or any other bodily fluids on the cars parked in the lot behind my building!
Old Lloyd (and I do mean OLD) was gleeful?! I wish I’d seen that!
As giddy as a schoolgirl, he was.
Giddy.
Congratulations to the Flames. Played a good game 6, and fairly cleanly, too.
Darn Sharks…they have their best season ever, then don’t show up to play in games 2 and 5 of the conference finals. Damn them for disappointing me.
If it’s not going to be the Sharks taking the cup, it ought to be a Canadian team. So, Go Flames!
I was doing laps of the island in my kitchen I was so stressed. Thank goodness the game didn’t go into overtime or I would have worn a hole in the lino
My sisters got to go to the game, curse them!
Go Flames Go!
