Werewolf (Mafia)--The Split [Signups--In progress]

As I said when I claimed–town was in the midst of a fairly serious discussion of whether or not the wolves had rancher/farmer status and how that might impact the testerizer. I decided (and apparently a few people agree) that my role was low-power enough in terms of the hunt for wolves that it was worth revealing it to also reveal the information that wolves DO have farmer/rancher status.

As I also said when I claimed, go ahead and test me, if you feel a need. It’ll add a valuable data point.

Hey, I’ve never played in a game with unstated powers before. To me, “Role Cop” and “Investigator” sound like very different things (even if Cop and Investigator are equivalent I thought “Role” implied something a tad more useful than farmer/rancher). thinking again, you’re right. Ich was the one who started the idiotic “wolves as farmers and ranchers” discussion and it would make more sense if it was relevant to his role.

I’m still a bit concerned by Zeriel’s change of tone. He’s been really really quiet of late. Still…

untest zeriel
test Daphne

Recovering, mostly. I’ll start jumping on people again when work settles down and I’m caught up from vacation (I just subbed out of the facebook game, actually, so it’s not just here).

Sorry for the delay but I finally finished my reread of Jimmy Chitwood. I don’t see what Daphne is suspecting except for JC did defend her during Day 1 when she was drawing heat for hiding in plain sight. But on to the analysis.

JC has posted 21 times since he confirmed his role, two of those posts were fluff. He hasn’t posted at all on Day 3. The main things that Jimmy has talked about were; Tel volunteering to be testerized and how taking volunteers was a bad idea plus general testerizer theory, three of his posts involve defending Daphne to some extent mostly that he’s not seeing what others are, no concrete defense, all of his votes posts have reasons behind them and it seems that he has grown suspicious of Tel during the course of the first two Days. He asked some pointed questions in one post trying to draw out a variety of posters for different reasons and he has consistently stuck to lynching and testing the scummiest player but either way needing to lynch whoever gets tested.

I’ll do another read through on Mah today but it’s going to take a while since he’s not really a low volume poster like Daphne implied.

I’ve been thinking about this today, trying to decide if I think anyone on his list is scum. One the one hand, it does seem like a great scum ploy to kill him if he was way off base in his observations. That way we’d be looking in all the wrong places. It’s a more risky move if he had in fact listed a couple of wolves in his posts. But, like Adrian said, maybe that’s just what they want us to think - that they would never make a move so risky.
Plus, with his power role, maybe he did know something that he couldn’t outright state, but could only allude to. I don’t know how that power works.
I’m still willing to bet that either Telcontar or Seeker is scum, if not both.

The other issue I’ve been thinking on a lot is Zeriel revealing his power role. He did say that it was in response to the wolves being farmers/ranchers debate, which makes sense. But he could have easily picked that time to claim he was a townie with a power role to keep himself safe for a while. I notice he hasn’t really said anything else about his power since revealing he had it.

Oh, I also had a random thought last night while laying in bed. Maybe the testerizer always gives two random colors for a townie, but two of the same color for a wolf. I think if we test someone who comes up with that result, we should definitely lynch. Any other result, and we should just go from there.

I’m still trying to decide which of the above three I want to see tested.

I didn’t think a claim of “generic power role” was worthwhile for a few reasons:

  1. Magic bags and incomplete claims get one killed more often than not.
  2. My power role is sufficiently bland that it’s not going to hurt the town to reveal it (since it’s tied up in the farmer vs. rancher thing rather than the wolf vs. town thing), and at the same time since I’ve kept my F/R status on the down-low, I haven’t revealed the crux of my role. Plus, this way the wolves don’t kill me because I’m powerless to harm them except with my gigantic, throbbing brain.
  3. Primarily, I claimed my power because claiming my power gives me a sensible reason for knowing the wolves have cover identities as farmers/ranchers–not giving a role, just that info, would have been a HELL of a magic bag for you guys to accept and I wanted to forestall the idea of debating that endlessly.

I’m not sure how much time I have for posting tomorrow, so I want to throw my vote out there:
test Telcontar

For reasons outlined above.

Does anybody have any input on pedescribe’s announcement colors?

Telcontar (4): DaphneBlack, Mahaloth, Allwalker, [Undecided] Adrian
Daphne Black (1): Telcontar
Mhaye (1): Zeriel
SoT&B (1): Oredigger77

The colors used in the death reveal are blue for Farmers, green for Ranchers, and red for wolves

This color scheme is for ease of reading only and is FULLY AND COMPLETELY unrelated to the testerizer. Because that would be too obvious.

I’d say he does one color for lynches and one for night kills. But yeah, if we do lynch a farmer or they kill a rancher and he does the announcement in the opposite color, then I’d say we definitely have a testerizer clue there.

Okay, nevermind then.

Yeah, I’m not too low volume and I think that most of my posts are not fluff or just random agreements.

Actually, this is one of the more “fluffier” posts I’ve had and I still wouldn’t count it as fluff since it is regarding something implied about me.

Fluff would be my Night-time posts, which are just for fun and a few times where I must have agreed with what someone said or changed my vote. Of course, since I’m new, I have a few question posts also, but I have a good amount of contributions as well. If people start to actively suggest otherwise, I can go back and find what I believe are my more worthwhile threads. For now, feel free to re-examine me.

Well, I’d say that Daphne has been actively suggesting otherwise and I am mainly doing the person by person rereads at her behest. Don’t you love direct questions? But see as how you’re the third highest living poster and I’m busy today I’m probably going to hold off on doing a post by post until toMarrow.

Besides it looks like Tel is going down and I’m ok with that considering he’s number two on my list right now and all I can do is stir up trouble that will take away from him.

Jeez, if you’re going to cast aspersions, you could at least spell my username correctly.  Sorry my posts aren’t more to your liking, but I am a new player and can’t pretend to be strategizing on nearly the same level as some of the players here. Humility is now cause for suspicion? Some game. I have my suspicions and my hunches, too, but have been surprised at several points along the way in this game already, and don’t feel confident enough as yet to declare this or that person must be (or probably is) scum. That’s just not how I play games - this or any other.

A quick clarification.

Oredigger, thank you for taking the time to look at those I’ve listed. Just wanted to clarify that those on the list are there because I had ‘no read’ on them, not because of the exact number of their posts. The fact that Mahaloth has been posting more than I actually thought, gives me hope that it is a temporary thing, or is a problem of perception on my end, and not a deliberate strategy of remaining out of the fray.

Is there anyone you’d like me to look through, other than the usual suspects?

Part of playing Mafia is to talk about who you find suspicious and why. If you’re not willing to do that, it is very suspicious. Zeriel a few posts back talks about ‘magic bags’. This is a similar thing. If you keep hinting that you have these ideas but don’t want to share them (yet), if you are not a wolf, that opens you up to being killed before you’ve said anything helpful to the town.

Of course, if you are a wolf, you probably don’t care about being helpful to the town.

Zeriel: do you have any results you think might be helpful for us to have before he testeriser? I don’t really see any downside – as you say, you are under suspicion for your claim so if you are indeed town there’s no worry it will get you killed.

I think the town would greatly benefit if everyone showed up to be counted before the testeriser tomorrow!

Well, thanks for that gaming tutorial, Daphne. I’ll bear it in mind. And someone as chatty and suspicious as you couldn’t possibly be a wolf, could you? Nahhhh… :dubious:

Do you think this game would be going better if we all sat around not talking about, you know, the point of the game?

Well, Telcontar is probably going to be tested, but let’s not assume he’s “going down” yet. I think Thursday’s discussion and analysis will indicate that.

Yeah, Daphne, I really think the idea of meing posting little or using fluff posts is a perception thing. I haven’t drawn a lot of attention until page 16 or 17, but there is no real reason for that. I have listed and explained suspicions on Day Two and Three(for the testing on Three). I have asked questions and so forth.

No worries, Mahaloth. I’ll go back and look over your posts again. I wasn’t implying that you were only making fluff posts, sorry, just that I didn’t get a strong impression from them. Different thing! And rather more subjective of course.

Given that only 4 people have voted for me I don’t think that’s clear at all.

Oh, I totally agree. I just meant that your “lynching” is not even on the table at this point(anymore than anyone else I mean). Oredigger seemed to imply in his post that you are “going down”, which seems awfully presumptive.
