Westworld S2 (show spoilers as it airs)

So basically it’s Five Nights at Freddy’s with a bigger budget?

I’ve heard good things about Longmire, and he’s in all 6 seasons of that (not main cast, but a series regular.) Not my genre (police show) but YMMV.

The scene where Akecheta found the man-in-the-maze disc with Dolores as the deathbringer v1: was it a try-out for Ford’s “violent end” on Bernard or was it Arnold’s “accident”. It’s clearly Bernard that has been shot or have we been getting incorrect images of Arnold in the flashbacks?

Pretty sure that was Arnold. What makes you think it was Bernard?

You’re making me wonder now, I was convinced I saw Bernard on the floor in front of the chair. I’ll check when I get home…

I’m also quite certain it was Arnold. This was a scene from the first massacre 30 years ago. It’s why Ford told him “when the Deathbringer comes again…” because Ford knew it would happen again.

Something I wish this episode explained but didn’t: How come bullets didn’t affect them? If you remember in the first season, Stubbs and Elsie were attacked by the Ghost Nation and tried to do the “Cease all motor functions” thing and it didn’t work (presumably because they were woke), but they also shot The Nation with bullets and that didn’t work either. I wonder why…

I mean, they look the same, how can you really tell them apart?

It wasn’t Arnold or Bernard - it was Clyde! Or possibly David, Ernest, Frank, Gary…

Heart Shaped Box, FUCK YES!!!

That Lydian “Devil’s Tritone” never gets old.

I can’t wait for the full Season 2 soundtrack to get released.

That’s another bizarre thing about Westworld. How is it that no one noticed/commented on how Bernard is an exact physical copy of the guy that cofounded the park?

I had just made a screengrab and everything, but looking around the net showed me I missed a part. :frowning:

I was expecting the guy in the middle as Arnold, isn’t he shown in some of the flashbacks of Dolores?

That’s always bothered me, too. How could Elsie possibly have been surprised that Bernard is a host, when he’s the exact image of the park co-founder? Sure, in-story it might be the case that Arnold was reclusive and so there’s not a lot of extant video or photos of him—but NO photos at all? Not plausible.

Bear in mind that Ford has had 30 years or so to scrub the records clean.

They outright stated on the show that Ford went to extreme lengths to erase his former business partner from the record, to the extent that nobody’s even seen a photo of Arnold.

Points to them for trying to deal with the plot hole, but it IS a plot hole. Is this supposed to be a world with no Internet (or future equivalent)? How could one guy ‘erase the record’ of all traces of the co-founder of a company large enough to have, as customers, the world’s wealthy and influential?

I don’t remember the timeline exactly, but by the time Delos got involved, wasn’t Arnold already dead? Arnold created the tech, but Ford created “Westworld.”

Yes, Arnold was shot before the park opened.

Although Disney doesn’t have a Rapid Deployment Force armed with dunebuggies and FN P90 submachineguns in case the Pirates of the Caribbean try to attack the tourists.

All I can say is that was a fantastic episode. Zahn McClarnon is an incredible actor.
