Lots of guests had the hots for the hosts.
Maybe, little-by-little. Add a co-processor to your brain. It gradually takes over a dying part. Then another co-processor. Etc. Or, maybe that five-year-old-you is already dead.
Dolores has a new designation: Deathbringer. It’s becoming increasingly clear that Ford planned for these violent delights to have violent ends. His final F-U to William & Co. from beyond the grave?
Ghost Nation guy must be the first host to have become aware. He isn’t a bad guy, just misunderstood. Maeve just confused him in her memories with MiB. Also it looks like Maeve’s WiFi reprogramming trick doesn’t work with woke hosts. But she can still use the network to communicate.
Agreed. This seems likely. Also, it’s the only reason I can think of why there is a need for a Bernard without glasses, so we can tell them apart (and we’re back to the sloppy writing).
That was one of the most beautiful episodes of TV that I have ever seen. And it turns out there are a lot more ‘woke’ than we had any idea about (such as the entire Ghost Nation, who was awoken by one host).

After a quick Google (and being distracted by Youtube), the Ghost Nation guy’s name is Akecheta. He’s played by Zahn McClarnon, who gave possibly the strongest performance of the season.
Pretty damn close!
The past participle of ‘wake’ is ‘woken’ or ‘waked’ innit? I checked the Oxford Dictionary of English.
Of course there’s a double meaning here; the hosts are in some sense waking up. But they’re also woke.
This article sums up the episode very well
A beautiful hour of television that just shows how much potential this show has, and how much of it is wasted on stupid “gotcha!” moments and non-linear storytelling.
Hands-down up there with The Riddle of the Sphynx as one of the best episodes this season. I’m still not crazy about the show’s pacing, but we should hopefully be getting some good episodes in the next 2 weeks.
The shows fundamental problem is that, logically, a violent rebellion like this would be easily and brutally suppressed. Helicopters, machine guns, APCs, etc. would make short work of hosts using 19th century technology. Most of the ridiculous nonsense we are seeing is trying to work around this fundamental problem.
I think the Chinese take a dim view of anyone operating high-powered weapons systems in what is nominally their territory. Especially after their offer of help has been rejected. Delos has made its bed and now can lie in it.
One can also argue that the Delos forces are likely more concerned with making sure the hosts are in relatively good shape, so they can extract the “brains” (their IP) and therefore are using less firepower than you usually would in that situation if you were someone else.
They seem to have no problem using lethal force against the hosts. They just insist on doing it in the dumbest way possible.
If they can’t have Apaches and Bradley Fighting Vehicles even civilian technology provides a decisive advantage. Mobility from vehicles, intel from drones, communications from cell phones, etc.
You mean that literally walking across an open field towards enemies, armed only with short range weaponry, isn’t a good idea?
Hubris. Remember, the humans are certain that they’re dealing with a handful of malfunctioning amusement park animatronics, not an army of killer robots - who are, incidentally, stronger, faster, more accurate and more durable than any human - under the command of a full artificial intelligence. Park Security were out of their depth to begin with, while the QA have such a low opinion of Security that they naturally underestimated the threat.
Hubris is a recurring theme in the show.
Great episode, one of the best.
Definitely shows how weak the show has been this year.
It’s reminiscent of Hammond not allowing Jurassic Park’s gamekeepers to have adequate weaponry because the dinosaurs were so valuable. Granted it’s much easier to replace Hosts than dinosaurs, and you wouldn’t need nearly as powerful weapons to take them down.
I am still so in love with this show. You gotta stop overthinking it and enjoy the story as it comes.
I had no idea who Zahn McClarnon was but after this episode I had to find out more about him. You all probably know more about him, I don’t watch much TV, but I just thought he was wonderful. This was by far my favorite episode. I loved everything about it but I don’t worry about what’s unrealistic. It’s all pretty damned unrealistic to me. I love learning about every character and how it all ties in together in this web. I get in to all the channels that go over the episodes and look forward to my email communications from Delos.
You should give Fargo a try. It might not be your cup of tea( it is both quirky and violent, heavy on the black humor ), but it highly lauded and McClarnon does a good job in its second season.
