Is it just internet anonymity that makes some people insanely and hypocritically judgmental regarding anyone with any vague claim to celebrity status, or is this a prevailing social attitude in general? Would the OP and respondents to the linked thread say the same things in a real world social setting among non-acquaintances? Or to the faces of their targets?
Is this a side effect of the “reality” programming phenomenon that makes celebrities of worthies such as the Kardashians, the Real Housewives and Honey BooBoo? These freaks willingly put themselves on public display so therefore “we” are free to humiliate anyone who gets a camera pointed at them?
What the fuck is it driving this?
It’s a fairly common theme here; see the numerous “list celebrities you think are unattractive or goofy-looking” threads. We’re usually still in the single digits before people start listing celebs who are stunningly beautiful.
Ah, well. Illuminatus then. I’m not sure if that lets the Rosicrucians off the hook or indicts them more firmly…
Actually, I’m thinking it’s just human nature and the anonymity of crowds. Nothing unique to this culture I guess. The linked thread just pissed me off this morning (more than that sort of thing usually does, I mean).
Let’s be fair here…kstarnes is possibly the most useless sack of shit poster we got, and I would like nothing more than to see him banned, all evidence of his online existence purged from every server everywhere in the world, his computer disintegrated, and the places he sits IRL to post his garbage razed and salted.
Don’t forget good, old Hector_St_Clare! We’ve got several rivaling for attention these days. And Washasshole had never pinged my disgust-oh-meter before. So many fuckheads, so little time.
Well, to be fair, in the case of the Willis daughter-girl, she willing sought the spotlight by going topless. Doesn’t that scream self-important self-indulgent attention-whore? I fail to see how I could’ve offended you.
I think I understand why some find the topic objectionable, it’s the perceived supposed misogyny-ism. I didn’t mean to target only the daughter-children of celebrities. I was hoping that contributors would provide examples of both the daughters and sons. I hope that’s clarification enough.
