What are you playing now (Summer edition)?

I’m playing Horizon Zero Dawn right now. I like the open world wander around if you feel like it games.

Started playing Rimworld. Which if you aren’t familiar, is a strategy game similar to Dwarf Fortress, Dungeon Keeper and Evil Genius that plays sort of like the of The Sims set in something similar to the Firefly universe.

My first few colonies ended…very badly.

Still playing Zelda. I could go finish the main story quest, but there is still a pile of side stuff to do.

Hearts of Iron IV, Guild Wars 2

For some reason I got back into Fallout: New Vegas, and I’m starting to remember why I got out of it.

I’m playing a bit of Subnautica and Total Warhammer, but mainly I’ve been playing a lot of the new Dawn of War III in skirmish mode against friends and co-workers. I might dust of Osiris New Dawn since they have been doing a bunch of updates lately.

Booted up X3: Terran Conflict over the weekend. I found my list of abandoned spacecraft and have been running around to collect those for a boost to starting cash. My galactic empire is just beginning to flourish.

Why’s that? I mean, I’ve sworn off Fallout 4 until someone mods the ending, but I enjoyed New Vegas pretty much from start to finish. (Obviously, if you have finished it, I can see why you’d lose interest. Messing around with random mods and wandering aimlessly is only entertaining for so long.)

I’m about to lead the Minutemen’s attack on the Institute; the Railroad and Brotherhood of Steel are still active and friendly.

I enjoyed the Minuteman vs. Institute fight.

I love the idea of this game, but the UI is so unintuative… I get that indirect interaction is what they are going for, but it’s hard to first spend like 5 minutes tryign to do a simple thing, only to later realize you CAN’T, at least not in the way you though.

Early access, so it’s forgivable, but it makes it difficult to get in to. I’m going to try and watch some let’s plays, because, again, the premise of the game is just soo damn cool!

Of course I never played dwarf fortress, so it’s possible that to those guys this stuff is intuative.

Nothing is intuitive about Dwarf Fortress…except for the pachydermophobia.

Pretty much, yeah.

Just Finished: Horizon Zero Dawn. The best Assassins Creed-style game I’ve ever played, solid fun the whole way through and I’m bummed that it’s over.

Just Started: Tales of Berseria. Pretty good so far, better than the previous couple of Tales games.

Still Playing: Overwatch. 'nuff said, addictive game.

If one plays DF long enough, one will be familiar with the basic UI structure of RW.

Yeah it takes some getting used to. I still dont now when or how i need to tell people to do stuff. But its all worth it when your colonists eat each other.

I’ve been playing a lot of Subnautica (A LOTTA subNAUTICA! my four-year-old likes to shout), but it’s in early access, and the end game hasn’t yet been written, and the 2/3 game (where I am) has some real slog sections, so I’m nearing the end of my interest in it for now. But good lord, it’s a beautiful game, and if it goes on sale on Steam, I strongly recommend it to folks who like exploration games.

Got an ampeel tank going yet?

My tank is full of bonesharks for the bioreactors. When they put in reaper eggs, those will replace them.

That’s what my ampeels are for. 900 energy each means I don’t have to refuel the reactors very often. I’m reasonably conservative with power–I use luminous plants for exterior lighting, and I’m not currently using my water filtration machine–but I think they’ll keep up even at full usage. I have a nuclear reactor as backup, though, in case energy requirements change.
