I picked up an Assassin’s Creed Xbox One bundle during the holidays, so I’m tackling both AC: Black Flag and AC: Unity currently, and I just picked up Sunset Overdrive today. So…pretty full plate.
Some D3 again since the new patch went live and just bought the newest Humble Bundle so playing those card games for a while - Scrolls, MtG 2015, Star Realms etc.
Right now I’m playing Far Cry 4, and enjoying it quite a bit. Before that I was re-playing Dishonored. And before that, I played through Styx: Master of Shadows which was pretty fun.
It’s a new year, but I’m playing an old game, specifically Baldur’s Gate. Not the Enhanced Edition, either. Granted, I installed not from the original discs but from the digital version from GOG.com. I’m also using the Baldur’s Gate Trilogy mod which incorporates the original game into Baldur’s Gate II - Throne of Bhaal, for one long, epic, continuous game. I started before Christmas with a lowly paladin in Candlekeep. More than a month later, I’m finally breaking into Spellhold.
Fallout: New Vegas (just finished Old World Blues, now I’m cleaning up stuff in the Big Empty), Skullgirls, and Final Fantasy VIII (when it’s not randomly crashing on me…wish I could figure out what causes that).
7 Days to Die, the survival/crafting/open world zombie game. I use it primarily as a glorified MineCraft: I go into creative mode, build a modest fortress, then zombie-test it.
*Far Cry 4 *for the PS3, which can be really maddening sometimes, but I love that open world. I’m 50% through everything - I cleared the whole one side of the map of all missions, outposts, radio towers, treasures, journals, propaganda posters, letters, mani wheels and masks.
And I got some Steam dollars for Christmas, so I managed to get three games - Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, with all the add-ons (I had* RC3* previously (can’t find the discs now), but not the add-ons), Universe Sandbox, which is fun to fuck with (I like putting an extra sun in the solar system and watching the chaos - good thing I’m not the supreme being I think I am) and Banished, which looks like it should be easy but is impossible, but still fun.
I just turned in a bunch of games and bout Uncharted 2 and 3. Last night I also restarted Mass Effect so I’m just now finished with the first mission of that with my new Shepard (it’s a Male runthrough…I alternate every time)
My hard drive went into failure a few months back and I’ve just now got around to ordering a new one. I’m planning on getting into Endless Legend and once again bearing the burden of DOTA2. On the PS4 front, I’ve got a few more missions left in Shadow of Mordor, and I need to finish off Infamous since the freebie game on PS+ this month is a standalone expansion to that game.
Just finished Wolfenstein: The New Order which was a pretty solid shooter. Slow beginning – don’t judge it by the first hour – and it’s not perfect but if you like single player FPS’s, I’d give it a solid recommendation.
Before that I played 26 bundle games from my backlog in alphabetical order so I could write up a short review for each. My favorite out of the bunch was Eldridtch, a Minecraft-looking FPS with randomly generated levels and perma-death, inspired by Lovecraftian stories. I don’t know that I’d recommend paying MSRP for it but if you see it in a bundle, it’s worth getting. I also played a lot of terrible, terrible games
I forgot that I had bought Shadow of Mordor over the holiday (thanks Johnny Bravo for the reminder!) so that’ll probably be my next serious game. I need to finish my second run through Dragon Age: Inquisition as well but I’m in no rush there.
Finishing up Dragon Age Inquisition, about 75 hours into it. My only complaint is that interesting loot isn’t paced well in the game, when I just sell 99.9% of every item, even rare unique stuff, then what’s the point? That said, Virulent Walking Bomb brings a ray of joy into my life that I never knew was missing.
Playing Destiny, but it’s becoming yet another loot-grind game, so my playing is tapering off.
Started The Evil Within, but it appears to be of the formula “trial and error insta-death” == “scary”, so it’s back on the shelf for now until I get in the mood for that sort of thing.
As soon as they invent a teleporter so I can play with my friends 10 time zones away, I’ll gladly switch to cardboard. Sadly I don’t think I should be holding my breath on that one.
Lately I’ve been hooked on Craft the World, which is basically Terraria meets Dwarf Fortress meets Dungeon Keeper. It’s alright for an Early Access game, but I think it also could be a lot better in some ways.
The largest problem I find myself having with it is that there’s virtually no dynamic gameplay. There are several worlds to play through with minor gameplay changes, but the tech tree is unlocked in exactly the same order every time and monster waves are timed and only add more of the same monsters on the higher difficulties. I guess I would have enjoyed a bit more variation than that.
I’m playing Middle Earth: Shadow of Modor and I really enjoy it. I have also just started South Park and it is taking a bit to get used to the controls.
Finally figured this out, by the way. Compatibility problem. Setting it to Win95 fixed it. (Though now I need to do the 3-finger salute to close it out completely…)
