My Black Friday shopping consisted of getting a gallon of milk at the grocery store. My daughter hung out with us most of the day, helping her dad to aquarium stuff. I played with a little plaster of paris in my studio, and mostly vegged. It was a good day.
I went to the mall on midnight after Thanksgiving. I wasn’t going to, but it’s right by work and me and a friend got out at 11:30, so we went to Herbergers and I got a comforter and a christmas gift for my dad. To counterbalance I bought 2 gifts on Etsy on Friday, and worked again. I get christmas off, so I don’t mind working Thanksgiving weekend.
I also ate a ton of leftover pie.
Yeah, I found that the highways I was on in the mountains were pretty much deserted, which is what I was hoping for. I didn’t hit traffic until I got caught up in people returning from skiing on I-70, and even that moved right along.
mrAru and I drove home from my Mom’s before the plague I seem to have caught from him got bad enough to put me in bed. I am now stuck in bed hacking and wheezing, and it is rolling into a case of pneumonia. I have an appointment at my PCP’s office Monday morning.
We brought the carcass home with us to turn into stock, it is perking away in a stockpot right now.
I didn’t realize that “Black Friday” was an all-day thing. I honestly thought everyone did their shit all morning and then everything died down. So my mom roused me out of bed asking if I wanted to take her to the local outlet mall to pick up a part she’d been looking for, and I said ok.
It wasn’t that bad. Crowded and I was both sick and hot but we only went to 3 stores in the outlet mall and then a a Dollar Tree a few miles away.
I don’t shop all that much so it was like a typical Saturday of shopping with my mom. No biggie.
We then went to see the Muppet movie, which rocked.
Anyway I checked the “shopping” option even though it started off as “enjoying the day off…”
I’m visiting my parents with my wife and son. Unfortunately my son got sick with a slight fever. So our plans for a low-key day turned out to be even more low-key.
Other, although it wasn’t plans. My father started hurting Thanksgiving evening so we took him to the ER. He had his appendix taken out around two am. So I spent most of Friday in his hospital room.
We went to Disneyland.
The Firebug and I did a lot of outdoorsy stuff, and had lunch at MickeyD’s, which he loves. Good day.
Drove home from the family gathering, Mom was disappointed we only spent two nights up there.
Decided on a whim to drive a different route and stop for a late lunch in Grand Rapids. Did a little sight-seeing and had a lovely meal.
