I am not a car person, I have never been a car person, I can’t imagine ever becoming a car person, which is why my choice is so boring.
Since I have a Hyundai Sonata, I’d like to try out the latest and greatest version of it. Theoretically, I could do that at any time, but my 2012 is still doing fine and I see no reason to trade up, especially since I’m retired and probably don’t put 300 miles a month on my car. In fact, if it self-destructed tomorrow, I wouldn’t even replace it. We’ve got 3 vehicles, so I’d just use the truck if I needed wheels.
If the OP’s question was only for a month I’d pick a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost or some sort of supercar, but either would get old quickly.
For an entire year, I’d pick an Audi R8. I don’t know anything about them (or even Audis for that matter), but they look great. I see one at the train parking garage and live vicariously through that. If I ever see the owner, I’ll ask if they want to swap for a 2006 Accord.
There was one in a museum I visited while in England. How much more 1980s can you get? And I love the 1980s! Man, what a beautiful car! Others may disagree.
Did a little searching for information and prices when I got back to the states, I think I will be sticking with my 1984 Chrysler “woody” convertible for the time being unless my numbers come up in the lottery.
Can we include the cost of electricity instead, if we’re getting an EV?
I’ve got one now and don’t plan ever to go back to a gas vehicle. But if I could upgrade to some stupid-expensive EV for a year, I’d absolutely do it. If I can stretch the OP a little further, I’d want to try the one that was the most automated, so I could enjoy not driving it. Might be the Tesla Model 3, if I could stand the Musk musk.
I’m in the middle of a stretch of 5 of 6 weekends I’ll do at least that. Memorial Day weekend was over double that, but it was a long weekend (4 days for me) with 98% of it on Fri/Mon.

A Maybach. I have two bad discs in my lower back, so potholes and speed bumps can be very painful for me. It’s my understanding that the Maybach suspension makes such things utterly irrelevant. I’d like to try that out.
I don’t know what a Chinese “economy EV” is, but $8K sounds ridiculously low for just about any car! The Chinese BYD EVs that will soon start selling in Canada are supposed to be “price-competitive” with other EVs but from selling price estimates I’m seeing they won’t be much less than typical domestic EVs. In Canada, the Chevy Equinox EV starts at an MSRP of just under CAD $50K (USD $35K in the US). I wouldn’t even consider a BYD unless it was much, much cheaper than that, and possibly not even then – they’re nice looking cars but apparently the engineering still needs some refinement.
Once again, if it isn’t already street legal where you happen to be, it doesn’t count. Not really a “magic” thread, in that fuel and insurance are doable.
You don’t need a fancy Maybach for that. I once drove a Lexus for a couple of days and the suspension was amazing – it drove over a railroad crossing like it was perfectly smooth highway!
The McLaren got me thinking about renting it out for a year.
Now I want to change my answer to the BelAZ 75710; the world’s largest, highest payload capacity haul truck. With free gas and insurance, I could pull in $3-5M in a year.
