This is my second semester as a Master’s student in Library and Information Science. I’m still taking a lot of core courses, but this semester I managed to get an elective that’ll help me widen my career options once I’ve got my MLIS.
Research Methods in Library and Information Science
Introduction to Library Administration
Business and Legal Information Sources
Still slogging through grad school, workin’ on the MA in English. Next semester I have “theory of criticism.” I tried to joke with the prof that my mother-in-law could teach that one – she just looked at me. I got no idear what it’s about, but it doesn’t sound like a lot of fun. It’s required for the MA program.
Oh thanks! I’ll keep it in mind. So far the professor I have has only assigned his own book so far. I’m a little wary but trying to keep my optimism. I’d gladly take info on your prof’s book, though.
Ooooh massive envy! I took Ancient Magic this year and it barely scratched the surface of all the nifty stuff.
Scary! But CONGRATULATIONS!
Cool, which prof? I read a lot of books and articles on that topic - maybe I’ve read his/her stuff.
And thanks, although perhaps you should wait for me to pass my comps first
I hate theory classes–I’m a very bad grad student. The film theory class I have to take shouldn’t be too bad, but the theory class I took last year still makes me shudder…um, but I’m sure you’ll have a great time and learn lots of wonderful things!
For first semester next year (autumn for me) I’m thinking of enrolling in some language courses. Possibly Mandarin.
Botany
Microbiology
Applied Piano (basically private lessons, but my scholarship pays for them)
I was all set to graduate this semester, but it turns out the pharmacy school I want to go to added some prereqs to their requirements.
I’m in classes for Health Information Technology (medical records)
I have a winter term (no month off for me) and I’m taking:
Finishing Anatomy and Physiology (which goes for a few more weeks after my regular semester ends)
Then starting:
Ancillary Information Analysis
Ancillary Information Analysis Lab
Legal and Ethical Aspects of Health Care
In Spring I’m taking:
Medical Science
Medications
Data Management & Analysis 1 Lab
Health Information Directed Practice 1
I’m just glad I’ve got a degree already so all the classes like Composition 101 and Intro to Speech Communication are waived for me. Good thing, as I’m not sure I could handle those classes again.
Monella, P.O. No idea if this is even published or not, a search doesn’t turn anything up. It may just be a course reader. I am not even sure who the prof. is - they aren’t coming up on the faculty roster. Probably visiting.
Somehow I am certain that you will.
Well, since Spring 2008 will be the first semester I’ve taken a class in about five years, I can happily say that I’m finally back on track to earning a BS in Computer Science (concentration of Computer System Science). My first class is Computer Organization, a junior-level course on computer architecture and design.
Wish me luck. I feel old and out of practice.
I dont know if this counts cos I’m working but I’m doing an I.T. course.
Hopefully Spring is my last semester. I have just a few classes and two electives left. It’s a large course load, but I’m going to try it…I have two classes that overlap by 10 minutes or so, but the professors and I are trying to work everything out so I can be in both.
Professional Writing
Shakespeare 2 (Comedies, I believe)
Contemp. British and American Authors
Fundamentals of Criticism
Seminar in Linguistics
Gender Socialization
and hopefully Spanish 2 (if it is allowed to be signed in with the overlap…).
Could be much worse, though.
